@Johannes I really hope affinity will take advantage of the opportunity - better late than never. In my opinion, time is really running out.
I don't know how it will turn out for a software company of this type that won't rely on AI. If it persists, I think it will become a niche product without AI.
If there are no features coming in this regard in the next few months, I expect to leave Affinity Suite as it simply takes me more time to get something done.
I will get hate again for this view on AI here, but that's just my view.

What Adobe does now with Generative Fill in Photoshop beta is impressive and even more useful compared to what Midjourney or Dall-e do.
It is not perfect yet but way better than what I have available right now.
Dear Affinity team do you work on more AI integration into the suite? I hope so.

You got something COMPLETELY wrong here - AI support doens't mean clicking one big button or no need to learn any skills.
Machine Learning + AI lets you achieve better, faster and even more complex results while supporting the skill you have - not replace the needed skill.

Y'all need to refresh your knowledge on the topic. AI/machine learning is needed for collaboration in affinity.

I don't know your mindset, but AI isn't taking over the world some day and is not replacing all humans. The AI dystopia mindset is far from reality.

Wow, your hate against AI/machine learning is real here in this topic.
Look at Photoshop and its very useful (!) machine learning features – it can save so much time and also let you achieve better results than you could ever do with 20 times the expenditure of time.
It has nothing to do with 'toyish' things – its a must have for professional workflows in some areas.

Some users have also reported crashes/issues when placing images, updating resources, adding pages, amending table columns and converting colour profiles. If you're suddenly experiencing crashes when performing actions which worked previously it is also recommended that these updates be uninstalled.
If you're unsure on how to uninstall these updates, please follow the below:
Press the Windows Key + R and enter 'Control Panel' Go to 'Uninstall a program' Select 'View Installed updates' Find the associated KB number, right click and select 'Uninstall' Restart your PC On Windows 11 you may need to press the Windows Key and search for 'Uninstall Updates'. You will then be able to uninstall the relevant update.
This update can then be hidden to prevent it being installed with future updates by following the guide in the link below.

    Hi,
I'm running Affinity Photo on windows 11 with the latest version (1.10.5.1342)
If I try to change the font and I search for it in the dropdown list, everything works well, but if I try to find a font using the search field, at the first letter I put in the field, Affinity Photo crashes.
It appears to be the same in Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher, with any file I tried.
    Hope it can be fixed...
    Thanks

AI is cool. It can be a great tool for many new features. It gives the power to make and manipulate imagery to both the novice and professional alike. However, it should be a tool which enhances workflow and provides extra abilities to all users. It should not replace standard, tried and trusted work methods, but simply provide enhancements which may be utilized or not.
It should not curtail human creativity but complement it. Symbiotically allowing new ways of working, speeding up laborious tasks and providing support to the user without overwhelming or overriding the creative process.

Updates Very Few & Far Between
I brought this app 2 years ago as I was looking for a reliable app to use on my iPad day to day for my job as a designer. I found Affinity Designer of the iPad and was impressed with the tools and functions as I had transitioned over from Adobe Illustrator on the desktop. My joy of finding a decent workhorse for my vector designs was to be short lived. As I used the app I started to experience more bugs. I did report the bugs, taking screen shots and recordings, sending them on through. The were some issues that I could work though however there were some issues that were obviously common place as I found out from the forum. I send the hardcore issues though to be told, “thank you, we’ve sent them through to the dev team”. 2 years later and I find I’m here writing to you, saddened that what is an app with a lot of potential is going to the dogs. I posted my concerns on the forum and have found that there are many, many users fed up with the comment, “thank you, we’ve sent you concerns on through to the dev team”, only to find….nothing gets fixed, or in a hurry anyway. I paid for this app and I feel like I’ve been ripped off. 2 updates in 2 years is a joke. If you are considering buying this app, you will love the tools and options within but you will become increasingly frustrated as your concerns will fall on deaf ears. THERE SHOULD BE SOME ACCOUNTABILITY FOR UFATES TO APPS ON THE APP STORE. Serif Affinity you should be ashamed!

    Hello,
time goes on and the topics artificial intelligence and machine learning are bigger than ever.
As I've seen what competitors of Affinity software can achieve with these techniques I think these are a must-have in the future, otherwise people using software without these have to waste a significant amount of time on unnecessary tasks or simply can not achieve similar results.
Especially Affinity Photo could need functions for manipulating photo data.
Machine-Learning supported tools like auto-crop subjects of a picture, changing the auto-recognized sky, next-level face manipulation like for facial hair or human age, ...
What impressed me the most is a tool that can change the season or time of day of a picture of the nature "in 10 seconds" by using so-called "Neural filters".
IMHO, I do not only see these tools as a nice-to-have for myself but I think it is essentially necessary to remain marketworthy in the future. And I can only imagine what effort in development needs to be done for such a thing. But I think it's worth releasing such features as software version 2.0 - so I can pay for the work of Affinity again. "2.0 - The big neural update"?

    Whats your opinion on that?
    Greetings

AI needs to be added to affinity products. Not doing so will put affinity photo users at a disadvantage. the fact affinity isn't responding to this thread is disheartening.

Thanks for providing this for me!
As above, I'd recommend unticking Hardware Acceleration at the bottom of this dialog, as well as changing the Renderer to your GTX 1600 Ti.
Restart the app as prompted and then try editing once again for me - does this resolve the issues with black squares in developed images and the app 'freezing'?

I appreciate you suggesting this to try and keep the forums 'clean' and straightforward, however the multiple issues reported above are likely all caused by the same setting & therefore I'm happy keeping this thread together currently - but should it deviate or splinter into multiple questions I may end up splitting the thread

Miratek reacted to multis in 1.10.5 Causing crashes (again)
We used 1.10.4 since it was published with very few crashes. Since we have diverse team with many users, moving to a new version has been usually only when we've confirmed that the new version is solid.

Unfortunately, again, we are seeing the old bug that has bothered us since the beta time. When the new version appears, Publisher immediately notifies the user... and soon after that crash. No matter what I am doing, which files are open etc. It gives no error messages and no warnings. It simply dies. Attempts to re-open with 1.10.4 were doomed - this has been seen many times.

Earlier on, I even changed Registry value as per support instructions so that this should not happen. Apparently something is changed and this time the new version was 'notified' and that meant crash. Now, since installing 1.10.5 (on Windows 10 Pro with 64G of RAM) it has started to crash - not every time, not on every file and but far, far, far more often than 1.10.4 ever did. And not only on my computer, but all of our team members have reported the same.

I don't know what 1.10.5 was supposed to fix, but forcing these updates is bad behavior and I really hope this is the very last time Serif does this. I sincerely hope that you'll either remove the component that "notifies" of the updated version or redo it from scratch. This same problem (as you can see from older bug reports) has existed a long while. As this will, clearly, mean that I have again unstable Publisher and hours and hours of time is likely going to crashes, I do feel annoyed and betrayed. I would have not changed from 1.10.4 without the absolute must that Serif imposed. What should I do now? 1.10.5 works only occasionally and i have urgent deadlines to meet.

I know I am late to this post but I totally agree. Having all of your assets, brushes, palettes, etc sync between all the applications (Desktop and iOS) would be a priceless update. I am always creating/acquiring new assets and brushes. So always exporting and importing. This would be a time saver. Hopefully this is something that can be implemented.

I absolutely agree with you. There are not only full computer softwares can to all of these things you described, but also countless free phone apps can achieve similar results. And also I don't think all of us would mind if you charge additional upgrade fees to so called Affinity 2.0 because I still want to support the one time payment business mode.
