Callum reacted to R C-R in Suddenly can't select objects in any layer other than active/selected?
Not sure what you mean by  'escher' cube/elements but if you mean the rectangular curve layer on page 3 with x on each of the move handles signifying it is locked, that's because it is an element of your Typowa 01 master page, so you would need to select it to edit it there, or if you want to do that on the document page, select the Typowa 01 parent layers, right-click on them & choose Edit Detached.

Callum reacted to Old Bruce in Why are my vector layers (that don't use FX, masking, cropping etc) being rasterised when exported as an SVG file?
You are opening the SVG with Photo which will always show vectors as they would be viewed as if they were rasterized. Try opening the SVG file in an application which shows vectors as vectors.

    Hi Garry,
I can't see any reason for this to be happening so have decided to log this as a bug and will move the thread accordingly. Its still possible this isn't a bug but I will update this thread with any info I receive.
    Thanks

Yes, I agree with Callum. The waves in the banner are very subtle and since the text is already somewhat curved, it is hard to see any effect from the displacement map. Below is my attempt (I'm also using Callum's Blend Range setting on the Black Rectangle area).

By the way, if you can create the text as a transparent PNG and then put the black background separately, it will be easier to keep the colors vibrant as you try to make the black look more transparent and faded.

Callum reacted to thomaso in Want to use Hair from a Subject with a Mask Applied ?
You could copy the extracted, refined hair and paste it as separate layer and flip it horizontally for use at the other ear. Depending on perspective (viewing angle) & light (direction, intensity) it may require some more editing to achieve a convincing, satisfying result.

The problem has something to do with the Live High Pass filter layer.
Delete (not hide) that layer and the problem goes away.
Not sure why it is doing this
Note: The unwanted space on the exported image gets larger as you increase the Radius slider in the Live High Pass filter

Dragging the High pass into the actual image layer (rather than deleting it) worked as well!   ...fabulous & thanks again sir

You have to use Page Number Options in the Books panel menu - the Section Manager won't work for a chapter document. It's rather confusing because the field isn't greyed out. I included a lot of detail on this stuff in the free Publisher manual I've shared in this forum - the link is in my signature.

    Hi @Callum,
I've just uploaded the file for you...
To test simply apply the Initial Words Text Style to successive paragraphs, I set the keyboard shortcut Ctrl Q for ease of application. As you go through applying the style to each paragraph individually you should hopefully see the same issues described and shown in the screen recording but let me know if you see something different...

I don't know what would cause that but you might double check your macOS scrollbar settings. It's helpful to set "Show scroll bars" to Always.

Callum got a reaction from wxman2 in Making an image by combining one to the surface of the other
    Hi Wxman2,
    Welcome to the forums
I have created a very rough mockup example for this that I will include a screenshot of below along with the steps I took to get to that point.
I first selected the area of the canvas banner and masked your sons logo to this selection which resulted in figure 1 (see attached) I then selected the logo image layer and set the blend mode to multiply via the layers panel. I then hit the blend options button (see figure 2) and lowered the Underlying Composition Ranges curve to allow the details of the canvas banner to show through such as the creases etc this is visible in figure 3. With this technique and more time than I had to make adjustments etc you should be able to get a very clean looking banner mockup.
    Thanks

Callum reacted to Hangman in Strange behaviour of character style/size when linking one text frame to another
Hi @altsan and welcome to the forums,
The issue you're seeing is a known bug in Affinity Publisher, logged under AF-1288 and AF-1342 and can happen if the document dpi has been changed at some point in its history in between new text frames being added to the document or if a page or pages are added to the document using Add Pages from File when the two Publisher documents have different dpi settings or you're adding pages directly from an IDML file to your Publisher document assuming your Publisher document has a dpi greater than 72 dpi...
This happens when opening IDML documents which are interpreted by Publisher at 72 dpi but can also happen with documents created directly in Publisher...
Your document is 192 dpi and if you look at the change in font size when linking the text frames on Pages 4 and 5 you'll see that it is being scaled by 37.50%, so you effectively have two text frames using different resolutions, 192 dpi and 72 dpi.
Text Style - the font size changes from 9 pt to 3.375 pt
    (72 / 192) x 100 = 37.50%
    9 pt x 37.50% = 3.375 pt (3.4 pt)
After selecting Apply "Text Style" to Paragraphs and Clear Character Formatting - the font size changes from 9 pt to 24 pt
    (192 / 72) x 100 = 266.67%
    9 pt x 266.67% = 23.99 pt (24 pt)

    Steps to Rectify the Issue
Change the Document dpi from 192 dpi to 72 dpi Delete the text frame on Page 5 Create a new text frame on Page 5 Link the text frame on Page 4 to the text frame on Page 5 Change the document back to 192 dpi Save the document and all should be back to normal

    Hi @TerriS,
Without seeing your Affinity file it's going to be a little tricky to ascertain the exact cause, it looks as though some of the texture is there but I suspect what you are seeing is the result of colour conversion when exporting...
    A few initial questions...
Could you confirm the 'Colour Format' and 'Colour Profile' you are using, shown in the Document Setup dialog window Could you confirm the file format for the texture layer and the 'Colour Space' used, which is hopefully shown in Resource Manager Are you selecting a specific CMYK 'Colour Profile' in the Export dialog when exporting your file to PDF, and if so which one

Hi All, Apologies for the delayed response I have confirmed with the dev team that this is currently working as intended but I will raise a feature request for a toggle etc that does what Bbrother is looking for and will raise a separate issue for the documentation to be made clearer. (Please note this doesn't mean it will be added to the app)
    Thanks

Callum reacted to MikeTO in Adjust spacing (just) between words (not individual characters) in Publisher?
Yes. In the Paragraph panel, expand the Justification section. The first row of controls is word spacing and the second row is letter spacing.
The minimum and maximum options will have no effect on non-justified text but for what you want just adjust the middle (Desired) value. You can enter values from 0 to 250% but minimum must be less than desired which must be less than maximum. There is more information in the free manual I've shared for Publisher in this forum - the link is in my signature.

Recording a Resize Document (or Canvas) iin a macro records the absolute value that you used, and that will be applied whenever you run the macro.
You need to use Filter > Equations to perform the resize operation, so a calculation is performed when the macro runs.
