  1. Hi @Hangman, after unpinning the "Hat House" group I could apply the master page without crash. Still have some problems with the other image "Stocking frame" as it gets lost (?) - seems to move to the footer. But I had not much time and will dig into this later. Thanks!
  2. Hi, @Hangman, thanks for asking and looking into this crash. Attached are the missing pictures. I had a look at the crash dump - so the crash happens on Mac too. Kind Regards Andreas
  3. Salut @Pyanepsion, thanks for all the effort you have taken to diagnose the problem. The whole document has been created with earlier versions of Publisher. The resources used (Pictures) have not been created or modified by any program of the Affinity Suite. And the fonts are from Adobe, except KnitSymbolsAS which is a symbol font with modifications from me and is in this sample on present as preset in a text box of one master page. By the way, the sample you have created from my file crashes too when applying the master page in A4 format. Anyway let's hope, the staff can find the root cause and fix it.
  4. Hi, we have written a book and want to change the format from 250x297 to 210x297. To achieve this I have created new master pages in the new format and taken care to name all the objects the same as in the original master pages. When I try to apply the corresponding new master page to a document page the applications crashes immediately. I've attached an excerpt of the book to demonstrate. Apply master page "neues Kapitel A4" to pages 6/7 afpub asks to change the format and then crashes. I'm running the newest version on Windows 10. Crash Sample.afpub
  5. Thanks a lot - that's the solution. I experimented a bit with Master pages, but with no success.
  6. Hi, I have a PDF with scans from an old book. Unfortunately all 240 pages yellow/brownish. Imported in Publisher every page has one object: the picture of the page. Now I would like to apply a color correction to all pages. Is there an easy way to do this? What I stumbled upon is: in the dialog box for tone mapping there is an "Add Preset" button but I didn't find a button to "Apply preset". Anyway - would still be a tough task for 240 pages ...
  7. Hi Dan, after the comments from Old Bruce and Walt I checked on the Adobe Website and learned that Type 1 is officially discontinued since 2023. So I believe, the correct handling in the Glyph Browser would be a "nice to have" with a low priority. I'm sending you the Type 1 files anyway. ZD_____.PFB ZD_____.PFM
  8. yes, for professional use I agree - I wouldn't want to send a document with Type1-Fonts to a Print studio. Anyway, for home use, why shouldn't I use those fonts from an old Font CD, which work perfectly with Windows and any printer at home? And indeed, also the Publisher works fine, it is only the Glyph Browser which has some trouble with those fonts.
  9. As shown in the screenshot the glyph browser shows no glyphs for my ZapfDingbats font (compared to the Windows character map). I have also tried with the AGaramond-Font and it seems to happen with Type1-Fonts.
  10. Hi Callum, thanks for looking into this. I've simplified the file and removed the other artboards, so you'll get now 1 page with two similar strokes. The top one produces the result from my first posting, the other one produces another strange result when applying "Expand contour" (Looks like some Control Handles of the knots get "out of control"). Expand Contour Sample.afdesign
  11. I created a stroke and tried to "Expand Contour". What happened is this: The beginning of the stroke gets distorted. When switching to the Node Tool, It looks like the handles of the created nodes are not positioned correct. Any idea, what is wrong?
  12. Thanks to all for your efforts. This explains what Designer is doing.
  13. Yes, it agrees and tells me "triangle". The triangle is on artboard2 in the lower right corner Eine Seerose2.afdesign
  14. Hmm, I created a triangle and distorted it by dragging the top corner straight over the lower right corner. Why should it be a parallelogram? The handles of a triangle without transformation form a rectangle. Anyway the object is a triangle.
  15. The object in the 1st screenshot is a triangle (in light grey) - only the surrounding handles form a parallelogram.
  16. Hi, I have created a triangle with right angle. As of my mathematical understanding, length and width of the triangle should be the same. Designer wants to make me believe, that it is 18.7 mm wide and 20.9 mm high. I also created a square with the same size on screen and here the dimensions seem to be correct.
  17. Eventually you can give RawTherapee a try for your Raw development. It is open source and offers a lot of settings. It also allows to copy all adjustments made for one photo to your other photos. So far I found nothing in Adobe Camera Raw which is missing in RawTherapee. I dig not dig much into Affinity Photo's raw development as I have a working solution
  18. Maybe he found the translation for "vehicles" in Monty Python's dictionary - remember "My hovercraft is full of eels"
  19. This could help indeed. I have a similar problem where I also suspect, that it is caused by some open DLLs: When my Desktop PC has been running for a while (days), Publisher crashes when I try to open a file. After reboot everything works fine. Maybe a command to dump the paths of open DLLs into a file (and also creating this list when crashing) could help to diagnose the problem. BTW, in my case the problem is not specific to one version of Publisher. I see this since at least 1.8.2
  20. Hi @Old Bruce, that's by purpose. The A3 format is printed as an A5 booklet with 4 pages. That was in fact a problem in the past (fixed by Serif), that objects which were outside the A4 page vanished completely after applying the new master page.
  21. I'm still working on making different layouts for (nearly) the same content. I have two master pages with objects (text and pictures) named the same in both master pages. But the 1st master page has one text object without a corresponding text object in the 2nd master page. I expected that this object will be ignored when assigning the 2nd master page. Instead one of the other text objects is chosen by AFPUB to contain the text from this object. The attached file presents a sample. It has two pages: 1st page with the 1st master page, 2nd page how it should look with the 2nd master page applied. Steps to reproduce what I previously described: Go to 1st page, duplicate and then apply the master page "Katalogseite" to the copy. The text from the 1st page's object "Infotext" will be placed into the logo. I am using Affinity Publisher 1.9.2.1035 on Windows. Begleittext.afpub
  22. As we didn't get a new Beta version now for nearly a month, I am hoping that version 2.0 is coming up next and that it integrates the most wanted features like footnotes and cross references. Both features are needed for all serious publishing that goes beyond posters and small booklets. I am waiting for these features now since Publisher came up and fear that without those features in 2.0 many users will return to the software they used before.
  23. Since I started this Thread the download made some progress: @Wosven: no, I bought from my provider 50MBit/s and get this with almost all downloads (if the server delivers). @walt.farrell: The hops in between show often timeouts and have no name resolution. From my understanding this is normal if firewalls block the traceroute packages. The final node has a response time of approx. 100ms
  24. The traceroute doesn't show the slowdown. with the 14th hop the Amazon-Network is reached and to reach the download server needs 30 more hops. Looks to me like the Amazon network configuration is "strange". But this can only be solved if Serif as the customer opens a ticket at Amazon, complaining about slow download speed from some sites. I can support them anytime with my traceroute results, but we don't have more things in hand to help. From the last time I complained (in December) I know, that I am not the only one with this problem.
