I am using the latest version of Affinity Publisher and I was happy to learn that there is now the opportunity to make beautiful catalogs with data merge. I have been using Microsoft Publisher untill now but I have been familiar with the data merge operations for many many years now. So I was happy to be able to do this with Affinity Publisher.
So, after listening and seeing your tutorial for data merge in Publisher, I have designed the layouts in my document in Affinity (it is a products catalog), have my xlsx data source document ready. Two days ago, I made a catalog following your instructions without problems. The thing is, that when I had to make some changes (adding more products and removing some others) the problems began.
I of course went to make the amendments to my source file (xlsx). I changed the order of the products, I deleted some rows and added some others, put new fields etc.
I updated the source file in data merge manager and I came to see that I could not have my catalog anymore. I then deleted the source file from data merge manager and I saved the publication once more. Then I put again the same source file (the revised one) and put again all the fiels in my document and clicked on generate but the new document had many issues.
My problem since then is.
All seems good (the preview shows all records when I ask for them etc) but when I push the generate button for the data merge to take place, the new document has the following issues:
First, it does not show all the records that I ask (for example, it skips some products eventhough they are on the xlsx data source file) and eventhough I can see the same products when I ask for a preview.
Secondly, for some products it does not show the photos. Again, on the preview the photos are shown.
Also, I found out that once it totally messed up with the fields (some products had other products price).
Could it be a bug?
How is it the 1st day I made the catalog and the second day it messed up?
Could anyone please help?
I also tried to make over a new document (which I am sending you with data source file and the merged that came out) and I still cannot perform the data merge correctly (some fields are not merged like the producers text and most important the 1st product of each producer).
