  1. You're not slow. Some people just like to be contradictory and try to make you feel like you are wrong for asking questions. Your questions where completely on point and I would like the same option as well
  2. So I tried it a 2nd time with Google Drive and it froze again. Then I tried with iCloud and it did not freeze. Is this a bug? If iCloud works, shouldn't Google Drive work? It would be a huge issue if I couldn't use Google which has all of my design files, etc.
  3. I'm working in Affinity Photo for iPad right now. I have my files stored in Google Drive. I opened a mockup and proceeded to place 12 files, one at a time. I got to the 10th one and then it froze. Google Drive just disappeared. I could see it but when I clicked on it, it was empty. My other cloud drives (e.g. iCloud) are there and I can see the files inside. I'm not sure if this is a Google Drive issue or Affinity issue. I shut the iPad down and restarted and now all is back to normal but I'm nervous about investing more time in learning Affinity. I've told myself to give it a month of working with Affinity to see if it will be the suite for me, but I'm just running into issues that have me 2nd guessing. I pull myself out of one issue or find a work around for some missing feature but then turn around and there's something else. Now if Affinity just doesn't work well with Google Drive, can someone let me know? Would it be better to use iCloud? I really want to access the files I have in the cloud instead of transferring them to the iPad files folder and them using them. So what is the best workflow for using the Affinity apps with the iPad? Thanks
  4. I created some templates in Affinity Designer destkop version and saved them in Google Drive. When I try to open them up in Affinity Designer on the iPad they are grayed out. If i go straight to the folder in Google Drive, they are not grayed out, but when I click on it, choose 'Share' and choose to open with Designer, it won't open but it will open in Photo, if I choose that. I'm not sure what the issue it. The template file is .aftemplate. So what I want to be able to do is open up Designer for the iPad, tap the + button, choose 'New From Template' and open up the template. How can I do this? thanks
  5. Nevermind, I figured it out, just click on the placed object and up above choose 'Artboard' then choose the one you want. Great feature, btw.
  6. I have two artboards (one is a front cover and one a back cover) in an Affinity Designer file. I'm trying to place both of them separately in Affinity Publisher. Can this be done or do they need to be two separate AD files? Thanks
  7. I click on the brush, changed the settings then closed the brush. I chose the brush again and went into the brush 'edit' and clicked reset but it didn't change back to the original setting.
  8. Does Affinity Designer have the Illustrator equivalent for: 1. Asset Export 2. Smooth tool 3. Trace 4. Shape Builder 5. Lasso Tool 6. Create Outlines Does it have the same glitch Illustrator has when sometimes you export an artboard and the dimensions are off by one pixel? Also, does it also have an issue similar to Illustrator where you will create a pattern and a thin white line will show in the pattern that doesn't actually exist? Thanks
  9. I saved it as a png. AD gives the option to save as .png. I'm designing some prints and my printer needs them as a .png or psd. I prefer to work in a vector program so my plan is to design in AD with rgb and export as png. Is this not a good plan? Thanks
  10. Hi, I created an Affinity Designer document 18" x 18" at 300 dpi. I place just text, converted the text to outlines and exported as a png. When I open the .png in Affinity Designer, the text is jagged, looks horrible. to zoom in at 100% and now it looks normal. Can someone tell me why it does that? I would think that since it's vector, it should look the same at any zoom level. Thanks
  11. I got the impression the guys at Affinity were dog people, but maybe that's what the cats want us to think, hmm?! Merry Christmas
  12. I kind of feel like Christmas came a day early! All of these cool new tips and tricks are awesome. I'm really getting more and more impressed with Affinity Designer. Thanks.
  13. Thank you Alfred. It's nice to keep discovering all the things Affinity Designer is capable of :)
  14. Thanks so much. I followed these instructions and I created exactly what you did in the image. I would like to apply the stripes to the fill, not the stroke. How do I do this? Thanks
  15. I made a circle, then I copy it and move the copy next to the first one. I can see the green line letting me know it's lined up. But if I move the copy while holding down the alt key (so I can use command-j to power duplicate, then I don't see the green lines and can't snap it to align perfectly with the first circle. What am I doing wrong? I would like to make patterns using the power duplicate method but I need to see that everything is lining up correctly. Thanks
  16. I'm watching a Chris Spooner tutorial (Retro Style Geometric Lines Illustrator & Photoshop Tutorial). At about the 1:20 mark he selects the vertical stripe pattern he created and chooses the new brush icon, the art brush and creates a new brush. Then he makes a circle, clicks the newly created stripe brush and the circle is now filled with stripes that fill the circle and the strips are now circular. So, how do I do this in Affinity Designer? Thanks
  17. Let's say I want to create two sides of a circle. I use the pen tool to start creating the first half but when it's time to create the straight line, there is no guide showing me that the line is straight. I've seen tutorials in Illustrator where the guide is there so is there a setting I can set for this in AD? Thanks
  18. +1 on the Live Trace request I didn't know Inkscape had this feature. I think I will take a look at this, thanks.
