I’m using iOS 13.3.1 on second generation iPad pro

I have just bought the Sony a7r iv and hoped to do some editing of the RAW images on an ipad pro using affinity photo. Not had any luck getting the raw files to show up. I understand that, using an SD card reader, that it is necessary to import into  apple Photos first. This only results in a grey image with no info showing up in Photos. If I attempt to import this into Affinity Photo a message comes up saying file not supported. Yet all the info in FAQ suggests that the a7r iv raw files are supported. What is going on?
