So actually nothing that people without some programming- and in-depth SVG-knowledge could currently easily use in order to reuse/exchange SVG code with Affinity products.
……Hey Affinity, you need to hire this guy apparently.

Didn’t fully load for me, but what did was exceptional.

I don’t think this is a bug, but it’s annoying as hell. How do you keep pen tool selected? Also, why is double tap limited to only certain options with certain tools? And just in case no-one has brought it up this week, can you work on incorporating free transform, for a premium if need be. Please and Thank you.

I can understand why, there's no answer that will satisfy everyone so it's best to keep quiet rather than "fan the flames" so to speak.
Well if the whole GD software thing doesn’t work out for management…. They can always give politics a go 😁

Without a even a basic perspective tool its nothing more than a toy ....
Well that’s clearly not the case when people make money with it. Myself included. Those who find the lack of inclusion limiting in a professional sense have options with Adobe, but again, my frustrations come primarily from the lack of transparency as to WHY it’s not included, since as you say it is such a basic but greatly demanded feature.

The bottom line is ADs commercial success will never really depend on the addition of any one missing feature, no matter how essential any number of users considers it to be.
Overall I agree. I did say “being a more legitimate competitor” with no predictions as to how much the inclusion of the features that are topic of this thread would impact Designer’s standing. Only that it would be positive, and I stand by that. I wouldn’t however say no to those you mentioned either.

Fair to say then that it's not essential for the commercial viability of Designer, but essential for some people to be able to ditch Adobe/Corel/InkScape?
Yes, that’s fair. However, considering the amount of attention in this non existent feature gets from users on this forum, I would say that it’s arguable Affinity could shift their position from seeing no major adverse effects due to the lack of free transform etc. (thanks to the UI/other excellent features from a criminally inexpensive app) to raising itself up to being a more legitimate competitor Adobe, especially when factoring in price.

the complaint that it's "essential" doesn't hold water. If it is truly essential then people would pay the price it demands from one of the "big" players and wouldn't be here.
I get what you’re saying man, but something can still be essential even if the frequency in which it is needed is relatively low for some people. I don’t need to pay Adobe their extortionate prices so don’t (primarily out of principal), but it would defiantly save time and money if a feature that has been deemed important enough to be present in other vector programs since I was in college twenty odd years ago, was included in Designer for when I do need it. In those rare moments for me it is definitely essential, and it’s fair to say that if it was there I would use it more often. Overall though, it’s the absence of an explanation from up high that irritates me…. Even more than the inefficient and often inferior workarounds.

If it hasn't even been considered for over 6 years... I'll guess that something about that engine will brick the rest of the program - and that this just isn't going to ever happen.
If you can afford Adobe (meaning you make absolutely ANY money from your graphics) / then this isn't a problem.
I would be interested in hearing more about the first point. And I could pay Adobe, but considering it isn’t a tool I need that often (but frustratingly essential when I do) I’m happy to stick with affinity because f*** Adobe for their extortion. For anyone interested who isn’t aware of it, there is a workaround using an Adobe Capture ironically, (which is free) where you export your rasterized and warped bitmap as a svg.
But returning to the first point, the lack of transparency or comment by affinity ref this much demanded feature only ads likelihood to theories like that (admittedly I know shit about code however), especially with their profit margin.

OK I see, You can effectively retain editability inside the Afffinity app using the Live Filters, but when you export it will rasterize ...
So, if your final export format needs to be a scalable vector its a problem. If your highest quality requirement for export format is as a high res bitmap then it's still very useful to retain editability inside the Affinity App if you need to return and edit further...
Yeah, I stand by my statement.

But it rasterizes the objects. So the results are not useable in any workflow, which requires vectors.
I wish people would verify before posting😡. Right..... I guess if they had that function, they would have included it in designer.

The live perspective tool in Affinity Photo is non-destructive. Text, vectors and shapes and their properties are still editable after applying it - access it from the liver filters icon at the bottom of the layers panel in Affinity Photo.
No way! I’ll be trying that then. Thanks man 👊🏻

There is a Live Perspective filter in Affinity Photo that can do this... If you haven't already it might be worth purchasing Affinity Photo and Publisher, then you can switch between Photo and Designer with StudioLink and get the best features from both apps combined... You just launch and work from within Publisher and seamlessly switch switch between Designer and Photo ..
I think most people here are looking for vector transform. It is a useful feature for raster though 👌🏻

Almost three since the beginning of the thread. I wonder if affinity had some form of voting system for features most desired by users. Pretty sure rulers and free transform would be at the top of the list.

Looks great! I wouldn’t be afraid to thicken some lines though. If it were me, I’d thicken the white line round “umsec” a touch. Replace the gradient with a similar width yellow. Add a line round the outside of the grey part of the shield. I’d also maybe explore some different, more subtle /legible fonts for the subtext, that or tone down the gradient. Umsec looks badass, allow it to be more impactful by being unique, and also allow more legibility for the smaller font, will probably have to be condensed also. Great work!

+1 on what everyone in this thread has been asking for. We need vector perspective distort badly (and other warp tools would be nice too) to use this software professionally without frustrating workarounds. I love Affinity. I was a Fireworks user years ago and was so annoyed when Adobe bought it and just let it die not realizing the value it brought in ease of use and layout for screen. For a while I lost about 30% efficiency. Affinity has that intuitive ease of use but is missing this most important feature. I'm tired of trying to evangelize this software but having to say for years now, "It's great, but.... there's no vector perspective distort / warp tools or auto-trace." I want to be able to tell people hands down that Affinity can suit all the needs of most professional graphic designers. We're not there yet, but soooo close. Maybe Serif should get a round of funding and purchase VectorStyler to incorporate their features with some improvements for usability? Or maybe you're on the cusp of great things including this feature for version 2.0? Sure would be nice to have some idea when or even if this is going to be released.

Have you considered an 'artist glove'? Many users will use these with touch sensitive devices to ensure their fingers don't activate the touch feature. This is more of a suggestion than a recommended 'fix'
Yup, second that.
