This thread is the only reason I log into this site now…. because I’m a sadist apparently…. and wouldn’t you know? They spent time and presumably money updating the forum since my last login, but apparently NONE on the subject of the longest running thread (of any import) on said forum. Oh, the bitter irony. Someone once said that Serif were just controlled opposition for Adobe… I dismissed the “conspiracy theory” at the time, but time itself makes a convincing argument. Canva will eat both of them, and I won’t shed one tear.

Didn’t fully load for me, but what did was exceptional.

I don’t think this is a bug, but it’s annoying as hell. How do you keep pen tool selected? Also, why is double tap limited to only certain options with certain tools? And just in case no-one has brought it up this week, can you work on incorporating free transform, for a premium if need be. Please and Thank you.

Well if the whole GD software thing doesn’t work out for management…. They can always give politics a go 😁

Well that’s clearly not the case when people make money with it. Myself included. Those who find the lack of inclusion limiting in a professional sense have options with Adobe, but again, my frustrations come primarily from the lack of transparency as to WHY it’s not included, since as you say it is such a basic but greatly demanded feature.

Overall I agree. I did say “being a more legitimate competitor” with no predictions as to how much the inclusion of the features that are topic of this thread would impact Designer’s standing. Only that it would be positive, and I stand by that. I wouldn’t however say no to those you mentioned either.

Yes, that’s fair. However, considering the amount of attention in this non existent feature gets from users on this forum, I would say that it’s arguable Affinity could shift their position from seeing no major adverse effects due to the lack of free transform etc. (thanks to the UI/other excellent features from a criminally inexpensive app) to raising itself up to being a more legitimate competitor Adobe, especially when factoring in price.

I get what you’re saying man, but something can still be essential even if the frequency in which it is needed is relatively low for some people. I don’t need to pay Adobe their extortionate prices so don’t (primarily out of principal), but it would defiantly save time and money if a feature that has been deemed important enough to be present in other vector programs since I was in college twenty odd years ago, was included in Designer for when I do need it. In those rare moments for me it is definitely essential, and it’s fair to say that if it was there I would use it more often. Overall though, it’s the absence of an explanation from up high that irritates me…. Even more than the inefficient and often inferior workarounds.

I would be interested in hearing more about the first point. And I could pay Adobe, but considering it isn’t a tool I need that often (but frustratingly essential when I do) I’m happy to stick with affinity because f*** Adobe for their extortion. For anyone interested who isn’t aware of it, there is a workaround using an Adobe Capture ironically, (which is free) where you export your rasterized and warped bitmap as a svg. But returning to the first point, the lack of transparency or comment by affinity ref this much demanded feature only ads likelihood to theories like that (admittedly I know shit about code however), especially with their profit margin.

I wish people would verify before posting😡. Right..... I guess if they had that function, they would have included it in designer.

I think most people here are looking for vector transform. It is a useful feature for raster though 👌🏻

Affinity Designer for iPad - Rulers
Mark Freeman replied to paulstar08's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on iPad
Almost three since the beginning of the thread. I wonder if affinity had some form of voting system for features most desired by users. Pretty sure rulers and free transform would be at the top of the list. -

Looks great! I wouldn’t be afraid to thicken some lines though. If it were me, I’d thicken the white line round “umsec” a touch. Replace the gradient with a similar width yellow. Add a line round the outside of the grey part of the shield. I’d also maybe explore some different, more subtle /legible fonts for the subtext, that or tone down the gradient. Umsec looks badass, allow it to be more impactful by being unique, and also allow more legibility for the smaller font, will probably have to be condensed also. Great work!
