  1. Updated to 1.8.4 today. Opened a document I was working on. The Swatches palette has a weird bug where the list of colours overlaps the palette selector dropdown. My carefully created set of colours for this document are now inaccessible. After trying the click the dropdown, it simply disappeared, and there doesn't seem to be any way to get it back. If I select "Add Document Palette" or "Add System Palette" the colours vanish, the dropdown is there but doesn't do anything, as it appears I can't switch between palettes any more. Related: There ought to be a way to auto-generate an "All colours used in this document" palette... Screenshot attached.
  2. Thanks. FWIW, It doesn't work the way the help document says it should, and it's missing a lot of crucial features. Drag and drop into the Assets palette doesn't work (on Mac Catalina); you can only Add From Selection, and only then, after you've already created a Category. There ought to be a default basic Category in place so that it's ready for you to add things right away. There's no contextual Add to Assets option when right-clicking an object, which is really essential if you're going to be doing this dozens of times a day. (It should add to the currently active asset set selected in the top dropdown). The panel only shows you a thumbnail - there's no List view nor a way to title the Assets, search or sort them, which is important when you may have hundreds of them - not even a way to set the thumbnail size (if you work on HiDPI monitors they'll be really small!) - when you might have dozens of smaller variations on an object. You can export and import assets to/from a file, but there's no cloud sync. This is important for backup as well as being able to share asset sets from a central library (and push updates to a team, for instance, so they have the latest set). I suppose there's some way to do this manually via Google Drive + aliases but it ought to be easier.
  3. Hi! OK. It wasn't clear how it worked, because unlike, say, the Styles palette which lets you 'add style from selection' the menu doesn't give you any clue other than 'Import assets'. How do I take a set of selected objects (grouped or not) and add them to Assets? Thanks And, do assets sync between instances of Publisher, and/or are they available to any document (or shareable between users?)
  4. I often have to create mockups for buttons, menus, and other web user interface elements. I use Publisher as text boxes and styles map easier to web content. Some things that are simple to spec in CSS require multiple steps in Publisher, or require hacking single-cell tables, etc. What would be nice is CSS-like mode for the Text Frames panel that lets a user spec this all in one place: padding margins per-corner border radius (not all or nothing) per-side borders (including standard CSS border types built-in) gradient borders fill (solid, gradient, transparency etc.) backgrounds (as in CSS, ability to layer multiple backgrounds, transparency, etc) alignment and sizing of background (cover, repeat, etc) box-shadows (both inner & outer) Now, that can all be saved as a Style - although there should be some improvements to the Style palette to make the behaviour and sortability easier - but what would be *extra* nice would be the ability to take an object and have it toggle-able between multiple styles, equivalent to, say, hover, active, visited states, etc. This would greatly speed the ability of designers to create mocks / flows that include object states.
  5. I've recently switched from Adobe CC to the Affinity suite. One thing that I really rely on in InDesign is the Libraries function, so that I can save groups of layout items that I reuse frequently and then just drag and drop them onto whatever document I'm working on. I use it mostly for interface mockups, so there's a lot of toolbars, buttons, icons, menu objects etc that I need to frequently reuse. Neither the Symbols nor Assets functions seem to be exactly what I'm looking for. It isn't about managing imported graphics nor is it about updateable placeholders, it's about reusable sets of geometry, tables and text boxes with effects settings saved with them. Is there anything like this in Publisher? If not, is it on a roadmap for a future release? (And yes, it'd be really cool if it could sync between machines via iCloud or Affinity's own sync service).
  6. Hi all! New to Affinity, switcher from Adobe CC. Purchased both Designer and Photo from the Affinity online store. Have launched Affinity Photo and used it without incident, all worked as expected. However, tried to launch Designer for the first time today: I get the splash panel, the app window loads, but is unresponsive; the cursor turns into an hourglass if I hover it; I have to force quit it from the Task Manager. Have tried multiple times, same result. No error message dialog appears. System: Dell Optiplex 980 PC Intel Core i7 860 (4 cores, 8 threads), about 2.8GHz Windows 7 Professional SP1 16GB RAM upgraded with an AMD FirePro W2100 graphics card for dual 4K monitor support. Dual Dell P2415Q UHD monitors. Wacom CTH-480 pen tablet as a mouse replacement, touch disabled. Things I tried: Uninstalling and reinstalling Designer Unplugging one monitor just in case it was a weird dual-monitor quirk Verified that I have none of the third-party software listed in the sticky post. Slightly non-standard software I have installed: WebP Codec for Windows 0.19 from Google, to enable previewing WebP images in Windows Explorer SVG Explorer Extension 0.1.1 from Dotz Softwares, for previewing SVGs
