pbaroque20 got a reaction from Snapseed in Affinity products for Linux
Thank you for suggesting PhotoLine! Why didn't I try this sooner? Maybe because I sort-of lost hope? Read through the other positive comments on it and gave it a go.
Transformation operations surprisingly performs REALLY well on high-resolutions. I work with 9k images. Big plus, it even opens .EXR files. Not multi-layered .EXRs (unless I'm overlooking something) but single would do fine. I tried with ProEXR plugin but it crashes on my end.
I couldn't find a simple gamma operation until I found White-Point under Filters > Digital Camera, and works as expected (if you need to set to .33).
The tools feel so good! I can finally work like how I'm supposed to.
Since it's written in Assembly I don't think it's resource intensive. Anyway, this will be my go-to workhorse.

Personally, l think it's unfortunate when open source advocates claim that Gimp is the equal of Photoshop, etc, when it quite clearly isn't because it still lacks important and necessary features.
In your case, it might be worth trying out the native Linux Pixeluvo software and/or the Windows version of PhotoLine with CrossOver/Wine and see how you get on with those two softwares.

Would really appreciate a Linux port. The image below was my first piece composited with Affinity and was quite proud of the results. The raster/vector interoperability was such a huge workflow improvement. But I got tired of Windows and switched up to Linux (Elementary OS) and haven't turned back. After that my works were then composited with GIMP but with severe limitations. Adjustment layers are still not implemented in GIMP, so editing is destructive for the most part. Using GIMP/Inkscape isn't always perfect but I'm doing what I can.

I recently switched over to Linux elementary OS. It's such a game-changer, it's hard for me to turn back. I even sacrificed my Windows programs to run alternate software as a single-boot system. Virtualization is a pain and an Affinity port would be VERY welcome. At least have the software run as an AppImage (it runs universally on all distros - more info here). Rizom UV, a 3d texture mapper, has now Linux support when it has always been primarily Windows software and it uses AppImage. For Affinity, this would be a good option to reduce overhead.
Linux FTW - it's the future!
