BUG
— can't edit Y coordinate in transform dialogbox (for an artboard). Also: Tab should move form X to Y to W to H (and NOT from X to W to Y to H — this is not logical).
EDIT:
after creating some artboards: editing the dimensions in the transform-box don't work (X/Y/W/H). Inputed numbers keep jumping back to initial number.

Hi JamToak,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
The iPad version will not be a scaled down version of Designer.

...in fact, at certain tasks it may even turn out to be faster than your desktop computer! We're very excited about this project! :D

Brian D reacted to MattP in Creating an artboard and disabling it afterwards
Just to confirm what Miguel is saying, bleed is currently not working for artboards... I have a version which does work but it is more than a small change and would be too risky to enable at this stage - but I'll put it in after we launch the update. It interacts with a few things and needs a different shader to make it draw to the screen, so it would invalidate a lot of testing and we wouldn't know the safety of the change until it was too late. It's coming soon though :)
Thanks,
Matt

and just to point it straight into this thread
- linked bleed values so that you don´t have to type 4 times (in probably most cases)
- same for margins please
And very important (I posted it in the AP thread but it really belongs to AD)
- bleed for artboards and bleed preview

Brian D got a reaction from MattP in Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.3.5.10)
I'm getting a really strange crash in the latest beta...
I saved the file, closed it, then tried to open it again.
First it said it had to open a recovery version. Then said it couldn't open it at all because it was already open in another app (?!).
I quit AD and reopened, and the file opened fine, but now every time I close that particular file it says AD has quit unexpectedly.
Finally, every time I opened AD that file was permanently open. I eventually got it to stop by opening a different file, closing the first one, then quitting AD.
It's like it was stuck in some kind of crash loop.
For what it's worth, the newest beta has solved all of my PDF export crashing problems.

Brian D reacted to ianrobertdouglas in Ability to use arrow keys on input values
Hi,
It would be great to have the possibility of increasing or decreasing input values using arrow keys. Presently, you have to either type in a new value or use the slider or side arrows. In Photoshop you can increase font size, for example, by simply pressing and keeping pressed the up or down arrow keys on your keyboard.
I find this possibility saves time.

Brian D got a reaction from ronnyb in Feature Request: Typography > Title Caps
I'm using Popclip for this at the moment. I activated the typography extensions (capitalise, uppercase, lowercase) then just highlight the text I want and tap one of the options. I bought the app for other reasons, but the typography thing was a huge bonus.
Unfortunately doesn't adhere to language conventions, and doesn't work with Adobe's apps.

Looks quite user friendly to me ;)
Curious how affinity will approach something like work spaces :)

Brian D reacted to jackamus in Boolean operations
It would be useful to have non-destructive Boolean operations as the default and with an extra key (alt) for selecting destructive operations. If a mistake is made and destructive is used then there is no going back to the original shapes. Alternatively an 'Undo' option for the destructive option would solve that problem.

Brian D reacted to ronnyb in Feature request: Alternate glyph selection
It would be cool when working with Opentype fonts with alternate glyphs, to be able to select a character with alternate glyphs and have AD present you the alternate glyphs, in the same manner as autocorrect presents alternate spelling suggestions beneath a misspelled word.
Thanks for your consideration.

Brian D reacted to mrcavallo in Colour Picker - problems and feasible solution
hello - to add to the colour picker improvements i would like to propose an option to choose whether you can click and select a colour or to keep the select and drag.
in it's current form, having to keep pressure on the track pad to drag it across the screen is very irritating. why not click the tool then click again when you are ready to select? sometimes when choosing a colour down to the pixel it is very hard to fine tune this whilst having to keep pressure on the track pad.
thanks.

Brian D reacted to tommyXTM in Request: Bleed and Preview mode for Designer
For professional work I also need bleed, overprint preview and Pantone. And similar panel as Illustrator to export to pdf.
In this panel - color conversion, destination and profile policy, printer marks.
I check my work - Photoshop and Illustrator file - both open in Affinity, export as psd and pdf and again open i Adobe.
You're very close to change platform. Me and many graphics designers still work in Adobe cs6 - without subscription.
Cheers / Tommy

Brian D got a reaction from MattP in How do I purchase this software as a gift?
EDIT You can buy them through iTunes from this link:
https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/buyLandingPage
Do you have an iPhone or iPad? I don't know why this isn't an option on the Mac App store (or the Apple Store), but you can send instant gift cards using an iOS device. The only caveat is the recipient must be using the same country App Store as you (no cross border gifting apparently).
I guess you're still stuck sending them a link to the app, but it's better than the alternatives.
Go to the App Store and scroll half way down to one of the featured tiles, it looks like this:

Brian D reacted to Dave Harris in Affinity Photo
Affinity Photo will be a public open beta, run from this forum. There will be a lot of synergy between the two apps, so we hope it will engage with users of Affinity Designer.
