  1. Thanks!

I do not have a paint brush tool in Affinity Photo, only a vector brush tool. I looked under custom tools and it is no where to be found.  There is no little arrow on the bottom left corner of the vector brush tool to change it  I am using 1.8.5.703

So I used Affinity Designer and followed your instructions and it worked out great!  But I went out of bounds and now have a little of the blue sky showing.  I am not sure how to get rid of that.

  2. Hi,

I am a bit confused about the steps.

I am trying to make the front of the train burnt orange, like it is in color. All the way to the number 7504.  But just the front grill would be fine.

Maybe this is an extreme example instead of leaves on a tree!

I added a new pixel layer but couldn't pick the color I have as my primary color on the color swatch.  The color burnt orange is the outermost color circle.  The square next to the pixel layer is black.

Adding a mask layer added a white square with a black center next to the original pixel layer.

I don't exactly know what you mean use a brush to paint over the leaves to expose the color.  I do not see anything but the original color picture.

I have attached a color and black and white versions of the picture.

    Thanks!

  3. I know about this.  Thanks.  It just put the pages in a screwy order.  Probably because I started off wrong.

The help file says it is possible to drag and drop pages next to each other to reorder them but that doesn't work.

No biggie.  I was able to get the order to 1-4.  They are 8 1/2" x 11" anyway.

Now, if anyone knows I can default a new document to inches instead of millimetres I'd appreciate that too, but again, no biggie to have to change it every time I create a new document.

    Thank you very much.

  4. Hi,

I have a document with four individual pages.  Unfortunately I did not set it up in the order they should be printed.  Instead, they are page1, page2, page3, page4.  No facing pages.

I would like to have page1 print next to page2, 3 next to 4 so page1 can be folded over page 2, page 3 over 4. They are 8x11 1/2 size.

I guess page2 should first with page1 the facing page, page4 faces page3?

Can I reorder the pages to do this so when someone prints out the PDF the pages could be folded properly?

    Thanks!

Placing PDFs to InDesign layout works very reliably and is used all the time by those who place ads to publications. No problem.

You just cannot EDIT a placed PDF in InDesign, or you cannot OPEN a PDF so that InDesign could edit it.

Didn't Adobe create the PDF format? 🙂  I guess they want you to buy Acrobat (which the free trial also automatically turns into a recurring monthly fee).

I wonder if someone could take a PDF file I exported with AP and edit and change it to their liking (wording, images) with a PDF editor.

Do people only charge for an Affinity Publisher or InDesign PDF (or photo or graphic files) or do people give them the source file (.afpub or whatever the InDesign file is) so that they can change it to their liking and/or use it to create their own future documents/graphics?  I think I should search for graphic designer services and see what they say in their Request For Proposal document or contracts to see how this works.

    Thanks!

A 7 day free trial of Adobe InDesign immediately turns into a $21 a month service.   https://commerce.adobe.com/checkout/email/?cli=mini_plans&co=US&items[0][cs]=0&items[0][id]=7AC98ED7C0B9E7138F774892B4C40FE2&lang=en

Payment information must be filled out before the "free" trial begins.  Perhaps the subscription can be cancelled after the first month but not sure if the cost of the first month would be reimbursed.

Companies must have a lot of money to burn, even in these times!

I am going to have to limit my services to potential clients that do not care about Adobe products!

Well, this makes an option to offer exporting from Affinity Publisher to InDesign useless if it can't be edited in InDesign.  I have edited many PDF files in Affinity Publisher without a problem.  Works great!

I would have to talk people into buying AP but I have a feeling that Adobe users may be snobs and wouldn't succumb to this!

    Thank you,
