Hi, I know, how would the software know what the background of an image is? I have tried AD, AP, Gimp, and on-line services but it is a laborious process. I guess I need to get much better with the pen tool as I cannot mark every pixel that I want transparent. Such as the attached PNG. There is white outside of the blue lines that I missed when I insert it onto a web page.. The original is also attached. -paulw

Hi! It is a picture, that I did not take, from the 90s from another guide that I know. I just want to get rid of the "brightness" and make it a little more subdued. Surely it is all "yellow". I would like to give it to him for a present. But, I want to also know the steps how to "correct" this picture if possible. And, I only want to use Affinity Photo to do this! Hi, I am using Designer to create an image with a transparent background. I set the background to transparent when creating a new document. But I want to use some white brushes. I can't see what I am drawing! 🙂 How can I see white? Thanks, -paulw

Hi, Can I draw a shape (circle, rectangle, ...) with an outline set to a brush (acrylic, crayon,...)? The shape fill would not be filled. I cannot seem to produce this by messing with the stroke size or brush size. -paulw

Hi, If I create a shape (say, a rectangle but I want to do a heart), can I use a brush to fill it in? I'd like to create two blue hearts with a watercolor brush that I have with the inside of them filled in but not going beyond the outline of the hearts. Thanks, -paulw

I found this excellent video. Didn't mean to post the video picture here, just a link. Oh well. Any way, I set the software to just use my main monitor (I have two) which makes it a whole lot easier to use. And I messed around with the touch sensitivity of the pen, making it a little firmer like he did. Now I am having a blast! The only thing is that using the mouse with the pen tool in AD is a lot darker than using the tablet an pen. I will see if I can fix that a bit. All right! Thanks everyone! -paulw

Okay - Thank you. Yesterday it was "live" so I couldn't do it, but there was a pause button but I was afraid to use it then. On another note, I just bought an Artifex Forge brush package. His instructions on how to use his products are pretty darn good! My grandfather was Scottish. I am not sure what the Williamson tartan name is. I have a magnet on the fridge. Hi, I have a Wacom Intuos Draw tablet. It is a little guy. If I could make the pen cursor not go all over my 27-inch monitor and stick to the Affinity Designer window (or maybe just the tablet itself) that would be great. Wait - what if I maximize AD? I will have to try that. No manual came with it. I just looked at their website. I have never seen anything like this before? I don't think I am going to click on a hundred buttons to find the right one! https://www.wacom.com/en-us/ support/product-support/manuals There are four extra tips in the case. They look exactly the same to me. I didn't realize that carbide anything wore out over use. I thought the pad would wear out first. No instructions on how to change them. The how-to videos on their website haven't helped me. But I think I will start watching the drawing ones to see if I can pick up some helpful tips! I also have ArtRage 6 that I would love to get good at using too! Thank you. I will try and set different pressure sensitivities and use different angles. -paulw

Thanks again Dan, Might have to check my other brushes in order to do a complete aurora borealis (I have missed two outside my house here in Montana because I was sleeping and my neighbors didn't bother to call me! I had to hear about it the next day! Maybe this winter). Nice example with the galactic brushes. Thanks for the video. I get it now. I will have to mess with the lens flares. Thanks for the tip. Hi Dan! I know how to install assets into all the Affinity products. I just don't know how to use them to reproduce the "selling points" of these products (how they are described and the creative examples that are displayed). They all don't come with much more than installation instructions and promotional stuff. Hi Dan, I uninstalled and reinstalled something I found at the Wacom website. I think it's the same drivers and programs. But I seem to be in better control now. I know my Draw tablet is a few years old. Not sure what most Affinity Designer users are using for a tablet these days (if one at all) and if upgrading to a new one would make a difference. Maybe not if I get used to using the mouse for drawing and writing instead. Is that what most people do? Use the mouse and pen/vector pen tool for drawing? Doh - it dawned on me that the writing in the ChalkDust example could have been done with a chalk font, not the brushes! 🙂 Thanks you! -paulw

Whether I am using a pen and tablet (which I think my writing turns out worse!) or a pen tool, my printing or writing doesn't turn out anything like my real writing on a sheet of paper with a pen or pencil. It may not be happening to just myself, but can I make it better? Any suggestions or links? Thanks! -paulw

Hi. I have a Wacom Intuos Draw tablet. How do I limit the area that I can move the pen into the size of the Designer document? The cursor is all over the place (my whole monitor and the Affinity window). I would like to be able to line up with the document window, so if I put the cursor on the left-upper corner of the tablet, I would like it to be the left-upper corner of the document. Or at least just the Designer window rather than all over my monitor screen(s) - I have two monitors. Is this possible? The software I installed for tablet does not have a calibration tab, like I have seen on youtube videos for others. Another question that I have: When using brushes, the pressure is stronger using the mouse, much lighter when using the tablet and pen. Sort of the difference between a fine point pen and magic marker. -paulw

Whoa!!!! I will try and figure out how to change the images to some that are flat instead of skewed with Affinity Designer (I suppose Photo may work too). I did just find some using phone+laptop+tablet+desktop But the ones saying "responsive website design" are much better! Thanks!
