  1. I wouldn't mind that feature in Designer (at least until we get isolation mode ;) )
  2. My guess would be that the way Photo handles opacity differs from the way Photoshop does so when you paste into Photoshop it doesn't know exactly what to do with it. Did you try using the Export Persona to export the logo in the TIFF format and then opening that TIFF in Photoshop?
  3. That's because Photo is designed to be an alternative to Photoshop. Lightroom or the latest version of Capture One would be replacements for Aperture.
  4. That is in Designer when using the pen tool so hopefully they will include it in Photo in the future. For now, all we have is shift click in Photo :(
  5. No criticism intended. Posted that for the purpose of others reading the subject ;)
  6. In all fairness (comparing apples to apples), CS3 was version 10 of Photoshop and we have had CS4, CS5, CS6, CC, CC2014 and now CC2015 since.
  7. Just checked and you are not missing anything. Another thing I noticed while investigating is that while PS allows 16bit CMYK, Photo doesn't. I know there is an ongoing debate about 8 vs 16 bit but for master files, I figure it's best to have the most data to work with as you can.
  8. Content aware tools just analyze the image and fill the area by cloning. It may be automatic but it isn't magic. Use the clone tool and do it manually. Remember to duplicate the layer or set the clone tool to current layer and below so if you don't like how it came out, you can still have an original to go back to.
  9. It has been posted here that a trial version will be available in about a month
  10. Consider this: You open a file, start working on it, save it so you don't loose your work and then do that multiple times. Now when you want to revert, you have to read through the history to find the exact place to go back to. Also, what if you saved your history to the file and then want to revert? Yes, you can scroll back but in some cases it could be a bit difficult :)
  11. Did you try click once where you want the line to start and then shift click where you want the straight line to end?
  12. I would like to see a divide objects below command so we can draw a path line, select the line, use the command and the object(s) below are divided according to the selected path.
  13. I would like to see the popup have the default profile that you use, the same looks that are built into the cameras by the respective manufacturer and any profiles we make using a ColorChecker Passport. That is the way ACR/LR is set up.
  14. The reason LR can read a layered PSD is because the user has checked maximum compatibility checkbox. This creates a layer in the file which is a flattened version of the file. If maximum capability is not checked for PSD and PSB, the file will show preview not available in LR.
  15. Does Photos allow you to enter keywords (flat or hierarchical), IPTC data (contact info, content info, image info and status info), GPS data etc.? There is more to DAM software than just sorting and grouping. As far as market goes, Phase One added DAM capability to Capture One (think it was last year) and you have how many using Lightroom and MediaPro? I don't know what Apple was thinking when they killed Aperture which had how many users? DAM is not a niche market...
  16. +1. What it also does is help you smooth out a path drawn with the pen tool which might have a kink in it :)
  17. What I was thinking of is as you allow some specs to be entered in the context bar like corners on a round rectangle, you could also provide fields for size and placement etc so everything is done in one place. Tab across the fields and make the settings. Another thing it helps to do to speed creation is to use those settings to create additional objects where the user double clicks.
  18. Technically, when jpg compresses data it is not lossless as data is tossed. Therefore, when you save a modified jpg to itself you are throwing away even more data (compressing compressed data). Ever notice how jpg can have artifacts? That's from the compression. The least damage is done when you choose to save the file at the size closest to the original image (I believe that is 12) If you create a file and try to save the file using the same name as an existing file, you will get the do you want to replace alert. If you open an existing file, modify it and then select save, the file will be overwritten. If you want to prevent overwriting, open, modify and use save as making sure not to use the same name.
  19. Mick, I know about how the metadata is stored in XMP files (or placed inside the DNG if you convert the file). My question was how Serif will handle saving their data to existing files which have previously been processed. Can they append data or will they have to save a separate XMP. If they save a separate XMP, how will another app know which XMP they should use. I presume if data exists in the DNG and the other software handles DNG, it would give preference to the DNG metadata over the XMP? Sorry I didn't pose the question more clearly.
