Hi @Dan C If you are not responsible for this problem, please forward it to the relevant Serif staff: As you can see from the PNG exported from Publisher 2.1.0, the typographic quality is very poor in terms of clean and smooth letter outlines. I am very surprised that Serif has not solved the problem of poor anti-aliasing until today. The exported fonts have unclean, pixelated outlines. No comparison to Illustrator. Simply not good enough for professional demands. I exported the Affinity file with the Billinear setting.

Thank you very much for your video. Of course I can work in the CMYK colour space. However, I export many PNG files for the presentation. For printing I need the CYMK files. As the Affinity help says, you can create a document in RGB and work with CYMK colours. The same is true for Pantone. The Pantone colours should be displayed equally well in the RGB and CYMK document. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
-
These are my settings. Here is a quote from Affinity Help, I have translated from German into English: "Most professional print service providers accept sRGB because they can then determine the profiles themselves during the actual print output in order to achieve the best possible result for your designs. If you want to work with the CMYK colour model, you should coordinate the appropriate CMYK profile with your print service provider."

@LeeThorpe Pixel alignment cannot work with typography. For example, if letter spacing is increased typographically in a word, how is pixel alignment supposed to work? Pixel alignment does not work in this case. From my point of view, the biggest disadvantage compared to Illustrator CC is that Affinity 2.1.0 is not able to export perfect PNG and JPG with smooth outlines.

@LeeThorpe Here is another example from Affinity Publisher 2.1.0. As you can see, the contours of S and o, for example, are exported uncleanly. This must be corrected. The export quality or antialiasing in the layers panel can be significantly improved so that the contours are smoother when exported.

As you can see in this example, it is an Affinity example, the contours of the black letters are a bit pixelated. I now suspect that it is not due to the export, but to the antialiasing in Level panel. The antialiasing of the typography could be better. Especially for round shapes: d, e, o, 0, etc. This example was exported from Publisher 2.1.0 bilinear. To check this, view this file at 100% and notice the contours of the black letters.

Affinity Photo 2.1.0 - Bug in RAW development! If you want to change the format to 1 and 1 and press the return key, the format does not change. The result is a raised image! A very bad BUG!

Poor export quality of PNG and JPG.
Designer1 replied to Designer1's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Why is the export quality of PNG and JPG not improved in Affinity Designer 2.1.0? This was raised by several Affinity Designer users here in the forum a long time ago. It is not an obvious bug, but better export quality is very important. My guess is that it is not the export quality per se, but the antialising setting in Affinity Designer. Images are exported very well by Affinity. The problem is with vector graphics and especially typography. Particularly affected are round shapes, which are exported somewhat uncleanly, somewhat pixelated. Otherwise, Affinity 2.1.0 is a very good app. -
Poor export quality of PNG and JPG.

I find the standard antialiasing setting in Affinity Designer 2.04 not optimal. Maybe this is why the round shapes, especially typography, are not exported optimally. This could be the reason. However, I don't know which antialiasing setting would be a better one. I expect Serif to optimise the default antialiasing so that the vector graphics and typography do not appear pixelated when exported to JPG and PNG. -
The 3D functions are used by many designers. Not necessarily as shown in the video, but more discreetly for visualising logos on signs, walls, buildings. But I can understand that the implementation of 3D functions in Affinity Designer is not so easy and probably for marketing reasons could only be released with version 3.

@AshThe biggest problem in Affinity Designer is the poor export quality of PNG and JPG. I have written about this in the forum several times and asked for improvement. So far nothing has been improved. This problem also annoys other designers. Please improve it in version 2.10. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/178391-poor-export-quality-of-png-and-jpg/#comment-1027951 https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/176997-designer-export-to-png-pixelated/#comment-1018658

@Ash Affinity Designer 2.10 - Create 3D objects I know it might not be appropriate here, but I would really like to have the function Create 3D objects. The features introduced so far in Affinity Designer 2.04 are really good, but comparable ones were introduced in Illustrator and CorelDraw about 10 years ago.

Auto select option in move tool
Designer1 replied to Ash's topic in [ARCHIVE] 2.4, 2.3, 2.2 & 2.1 Features and Improvements
@Ash Affinity designer offers an unlimited number of art boards. What needs to be improved, however, is the complete hiding of artboards. Especially if you have many artboards, this would be a great advantage so that you can focus on only one artboard. -
Vector Flood Fill
Designer1 replied to Ash's topic in [ARCHIVE] 2.4, 2.3, 2.2 & 2.1 Features and Improvements
@Ash It would be very desirable to be able to open and edit such 3D logos in Affinity Designer 2.1. Unfortunately, this is not the case at the moment. By supporting such functions, you will definitely gain many customers from the design sector. https://www.logodee.com/product/3d-glass-window-logo-mockup/ -
I have tried the selection function in Affinity Photo 2.04. As long as the background is different from the photo subject, selection of the photo subject is no problem. However, if the background has similar brightness and colours as the photo subject, it is not easy to select. Is it possible to draw a path with the Pen Tool and convert it into a selection? This was possible in Photoshop 20 years ago. You can draw precise curves with it.

Text on paths cannot be scaled proportionally.
Designer1 replied to Designer1's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
This does not work! The text on the path cannot be scaled by entering exact values, e.g. 10 cm.
