  1. sounds great, maybe I'll figure out how to use it sometime ... so far seems very confusing to me, and I don't want to slice up anything ...
  2. Photof*** has a 'Generate' feature, that is used to auto-export layers or groups. Meaning, whenever stuff is changed there, e.g. inside a group or smart object, it notices the change and updates the exported files. No clicking around, no repetitive manual steps that you have to do again and again (we all know how creative work goes, you make changes all the time and try out stuff). Define what should be exported how and it happens automatically from there. This feature is extremely usefull and I use it all the time. But if you look at it more closely, it's actually implemented sh**** like almost anything in Photof***. E.g. its very inconvenient to adjust parameters for these exports. There should be a gui for that. Using the name of the layer is obviously a brain-dead idea. Also, it's not possible to specify where these exported files are supposed to go. They are put in an asset folder automatically and then have to be moved manually to where you want them everytime. Still, it saves a lot of time. Hope this will be added to Affinity, maybe even thought through to the end ...
  3. These auto-adjustments are still implemented better in Photof***. Surprised that hasn't been adressed yet. Thats right. It should be implemented exactly like that. Non-destructive auto adjustments is a required feature for me ... so once again I will go back to Photof*** 😟 although Affinity looks and feels so much better and seems to be faster too.
  4. Thanks for the advice @Ron P. ! I tried that and find its not quicker or more intuitive than dragging and dropping from explorer (Yes, thats what I do all the time, its most intuitive for me) and then using the alignment buttons. Both methods are not ideal, but ok. Cheers
  5. Hi! I'm trying Affinity again and notice is has made big progress since a couple of years ago, great ! This nerve-racking behaviour however didn't change When I drop in images, about 99% of the time I want them to appear centered. It not, I will arrange them in a later step. Photof*** does that by default (at least with me, maybe I changed some setting). So please just do this very small thing: Create an option in settings like this: "Automatically center dropped Images" Done! Everyone's happy. Best regards. And big thanks to dev team for their great work!
  6. That is really useful and solves that problem Thanks. Linking and instantiating I don't use at the beginning of a composition (when adding render layers) but later. I always try to avoid any destructive step. For that reason, I frequently link a processed image (or smart object) into a new file, often instantiated there multiple times (featuring different filters and blending modes). In Photof*** this works reasonably well using smart objects. The downside is that its extremely slow Still better than working destructively, I just can't deal with that. I guess that Affinity is not an option for me until they have added those features to Photo. Thanks for clearing things up for me!
  7. Hi There, i'm trying out Affinity photo right now because I finally want to get rid of Photof*** mainly because of its unacceptable performance in 16 and 32 bit. Mostly i'm using it for 3D render compositing. So far i've got 2 questions: Is it somehow possible to place images centered to the canvas by default? (Most of the time I start by adding a stack of images that are all exactly the size of the canvas, and it should be pretty obvious where to place them .... ) Is there a way to work with linked image layers instead of embedding them? It would seriously cripple my workflow if this was not possible. Its possible even in Photof*** (although implemented not ideally, as everything). A non-destructive workflow requires the ability to link and instantiate stuff. Thanks in advance !
