  1. Yes me too, I was always minding printing only, not cutting vectors in laser machine...
  2. Hi there, I have a question on joining multiple objects made in pen tool, I tried joining curves but in more complex objects it just don't work correctly or maybe I do it wrong anyway I want to go straight to the point and show you my object and why I need this to be one shape. I attached my drawing to this post and I want it to be a wall stencil, so after I finish my shape It will be used in laser machine to cut stencil on an plastic material, but you know the more complicated the shape be the more expensive and time consuming laser job will be, this one is pretty simple anyway but when I have objects like tree than there's a lot of laser job to do, because when I draw my shapes I do it by tablet and I don't draw the whole shape but I draw it progressively like on real paper so the end result is multiple objects and when I print it doesn't matter because nobody see it but in laser cutting its a whole different story. Ok there's my 2 drawings, one simple 2 objects and the second having multiple objects. cat.afdesign tree.afdesign
  3. I'm using after effects and need AI format also for proper working.
  4. So the patch I have to go trough to get it working right now is exporting my character to SVG format, then I have to go to the Illustrator, change the groups of body parts into separate layers, then in Illustrator save the file in AI format. So yes it seems that the AI format is the only way right now for me if I want to animate my cartoons. Damn If there was somebody to make export to .AI file option, or make a plugin for After Effects to read .afdesign files as compositions...
  5. Yeah you were right my bad, it was the EPS format that worked, I've also spent some time checking how it works in Illustrator and AE and had format name mistaken. Anyway I't seems that only when i export my drawing in Illustrator to AI format it will have layers preserved for AE animation. Forgive me but I'm more artist than technician in those things so all these formats are like black magic to me.
  6. Im in 1.2.1 version and yes I've selected Export for Editability.
  7. This is very important if you are making animations from your Designer ilustrations in After Effects, Affinity Designer saves SVG file with layers changed into groups and merged into one single layer which makes After Effects read your drawing as one object so if I'm drawing character for cartoon in Designer I can't manipulate the body parts, face impressions, etc. in After Effects because it requires them all to be saved as different layers, not groups inside one layer.
  8. I want to know about it also, I work on animated characters in AE and I want to ask how to import my charakters from Designer to AE? Because when I use SVG format After Effects couldn't read layers and so I can't manipulate they legs, hands, heads, face impressions. Only AI files are working correctly. Edit: I've found out that its because when I save file from Designer to SVG format all layers in my character are changed to groups merged into one single layer and thats why After Effects couldn't reed them correctly, Is there some way to save SVG file with multiple layers not changed to groups with one layer?
