I still have the same problem. Today, when trying to open a RAW file (Olympus ORF, which I use for many years) from Apple Photo with Affinity Develop I got this error: "Cannot load representation of type PUEditingInitialPayloadTypeIdentifier".
Please HELP!!! -

Just viewed the functionality of Pixelmator Pro. The selection tool is less user-friendly as the one in Affinity Photo. But, it works well as Apple Photo plug-in. It also works with layers. So I will go for the trial version. And see what it'll bring to my workflow.

AF is a great product, but is was better - for me - when I used it as a Apple Photo Plug-in.

Ok, I will investigate the alternative workflow you mentioned. Nevertheless I would like to see the 'real thing' working again. When it worked I loved it very much!

Thanks, rhmb! So true. I have the same feeling. That it will never be solved. No priority at all. I consider to ask for a refund.'Being aware' - since a long time - has a deadline. When?

Dear Gabe,
- I am using the latest release version - 1.8.3
- I can reproduce it. It happens with all edited pictures.
- With new documents it is no problem, since I don't open them from Apple Photo plug-in.
- See enclosed files in my earlier post.
- My operating system and version: OSX Catalina 10.15.4 ( I use Olympus ORF RAW files)
- What happened for you (and what you expected to happen): that the photo I worked on in Affinity Photo would look the same when I saved the edited photo back to Apple Photo
- Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did): I used normal procedure: in Apple photo I opened the Affinity Photo plug-in, edited in Affinity Photo and closed the edited photo in Affinity Photo, back to Apple Photo to save changes.
- Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video.
- Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers: no
- Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware): Affinity Photo worked in the past, but since a few months it is very unpredictable with the Apple Photo plug-in. Most of the time (90%) the edited photo's in Affinity Photo can not be saved in Apple Photo again.

Yes, it's lasting too long.

Since today, using Affinity Photo 1.8.3, Affinity Developer doesn't work with its Apple Photos plug-in. The picture file (ORF RAW) can open in Affinity Developer, changes can be made, but when restoring back in Apple Photos following message appear: "Editing with 'Affinity Develop' not possible. An unexpected error has occurred." Please provide a solution. Thanks in Advance.

Looks great. Although, the only fix I would like to see for now is the Apple Photo's functionality! How come that there is no information about the status of this bug!?
