Davideo got a reaction from Patrick Connor in Font collection changes by itself when a font is selected
@Patrick Connor, looks like it's working correctly for me, now. Huge thanks to the team!

I think it's already in the beta (Windows)

@Davideo You find the latest beta here in the beta forums of your OS. Always the first post.

    Hi Davideo,
There is no way to disable this behaviour I'm afraid. But it has been requested in the past so it may be considered for a future update.
    Thanks

    Hi ashf,
Thanks for the letting us know - I'll get this passed on to development.

Font collection on the character pallet changes to the one below by itself when I select a font if collection is set to other than All.
    This happens on all Affinity.

Cheers, @R C-R, I'll definitely submit a feature request. And it helps to know more about proper terminology as well.

I understand how this can be useful in those cases you mentioned, but even if this behavior is kept, it would be great to have a way to permanently reset the bounding box without having to do work-arounds with add/subtract shape or converting to curves. I would prefer to not have the extra step of resetting the bounding box evey time I need to change the object; I find it very disruptive to a visual composition workflow.

While I whole heartily appreciate a current accessibility of the bounding box to easily be able to go back and edit the shape (fantastic feature), a permanent reset or an actual toggle mode is a huge request. Please and Thank you.

Super annoying that every time I press the reset selection box button, type a value into the transform panel and hit enter the box resets back to what it was. Then I have to hit the reset selection box again and type the next value I want into the transform panel and so on and so on. Super slow and counter productive.

Put me down as one more that wants at least the option to make the reset permanent.

FWIW – I tried this, with a similar shape, and got the same result, except with the "extra bit" at the bottom, instead of the top!
I must be honest, I haven't a clue what "to accommodate the range of different potential shape sizes when creating variants of that shape" actually means!

    For shapes.
The base box is the maximum size a shape can occupy when you manipulate its adjustment nodes
The two shapes shown below are exactly the same except that the second one has moved its (red) adjustment nodes to their maximum values, hence it now occupies the full area of the (same) bounding box.

These are the same size only the number of points on the star have changed. I have guides added to show the bounding boxes.

Maybe this very simple example will help. The 2 regular polygons are identical except for how many sides they have. They have identically sized Base Boxes because that represents the smallest possible rectangular box that would touch every edge of the polygon regardless of how many sides it has. The Regular Box for the pentagon is smaller because it represents the smallest possible rectangular box that would touch every edge of that specific shape. The Base & Regular boxes for the octagon are identical because for that specific shape both represent the smallest possible rectangular box that would touch each of its edges.

Obviously, for other shape variants the boxes would be different, but for all of them the bounding boxes will obey this 'smallest possible' rule.
As for the usefulness of this difference, consider for example dragging a bounding box handle to resize, rotate, or shear the shape.

@R C-R, I've gotten that from under 'Drawing curves and shapes' in the subsection 'About curves and shapes' on the Affinity Designer Help info.
Is there a way to make a rotation permanent so that the selection box isn't continually at a wonky angle? For example, I'm done making the individual adjustments to each piece of my pattern, and I'm now ready to just have them be normal shapes, similar to Adobe Illustrator's 'Reset bounding box' option. I assume the AD 'Convert to curves' would do this, but still can't figure out why I'm not able in my project. Gonna keep working on it.

There is no practical way to do that in a single panel because (with the exception of the "Invert" adjustment) there is no limit on how many adjustment variations you could use. That's why there is just a list of adjustment categories accessible from the bottom of the Layers panel, & a similar list accessible via the Layer > New Adjustment Layer menu item.
The Adjustment studio panel is meant for accessing the built-in presets & the custom ones you can create for each of these adjustment categories, but if you rarely use or create custom presets, there is no reason to use it, or even to devote any workspace to showing it.

If you access the Adjustments via the icon at the bottom of the Layers panel instead, this will just show a list of the Adjustment and add the adjustment layer and not show any presets.

Davideo reacted to MEB in Alignment Panel options apply to Alignment buttons?
    Hi Davideo,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
That setting only works/is only available from within the Alignment panel. The Align group buttons only care about the whole selection box no matter the order of chosen objects.
