Thanks Gary
'I have been there done that' as the Aussie expression goes.
Restarting affinity photo was the first thing I tried after turning off and on the preferences.
I think I must have downloaded 1 9.1 in a corrupt way.
Couple of mac's OS versions ago, I had to reformat my HD, because of a corrupt OS.

G'DAY Ray
I using the Mac version, with the latest OS. I'm thinking of deleting affinity photo from my system, and do a complete reinstall.
Maybe there's a slight corruption in the 1.9.1 when I downloaded it.

I just installed 1.9.1 and now I can't rotate the canvas by using the command key plus mouse scroll wheel.
I tried to go to preference and the box is ticked.
Any ideas?

Thanks Ray, I will try It out, maybe on Mac it could be command key and mouse zoom.

I would love to see in the next upgrades of the AFFINITY programmes multiple colours guides.
This way you can apply one colour guide for each sets of sequences.
E.g. if you want to have 2 or more objects that can move up/down or left/right, you can select one colour for each object. This would make it easier to locate each section.

I have one request for a possible 'improvement' in the work flow on Photo. If you are working on a particular area and if you zoom into it, say 300%, you have to move around to get to the area where you are working.I suggest, to keep your active area in the center of the zoom all the time.

Here's how it behaves in Windows. Don't know how it behaves on the Mac.
Mostly I zoom with Ctrl-MouseWheel with my selected tool hovering over the point I'm interested in. The image zooms to that point while maintaining the relative position of the point and the tool within the window. It does not move that point to the center of the window.
You can pan quickly by pressing Spacebar to activate the View (Hand) tool, but be careful as there is a bug in the Windows version that fails to return to the correct icon for the currently active tool when you release the Spacebar.
So, if you are hovering over the bottom corner and use Ctrl-MouseWheel to zoom to that point then your active area will still be in the bottom corner of the window.
I've seen posts from a couple of years ago that claims Alt-MouseWheel works also, but that is not my experience.
If you go to Edit/Preferences/Tools the Preferences dialog includes a checkbox that says "Use mouse wheel to zoom". Checking that causes the mousewheel to zoom and Ctrl-MouseWheel to scroll. I leave it unchecked .
Thanks for this tip mate

G'day all.
To save time, I was wondering does anyone knows How to keep the active area in the center of the zoom all the time in affinity photo?
For instance, if I was working in the bottom corner at 25% and I want to zoom in at 500%, I have to find the area where I was working. The zoom seam to zoom fro the center of the document all the time.
Thanks

G'day everyone
Firstly I'm just been using Affinity Photo for about 2 months and I'm very pleased that I have done the jump and 'DUMPED' Photoshop.
I have been looking at the pros and cons between Affinity Photo and Photoshop. But there's one BIG difference between the two that I can't find anywhere. I'm referring to the time it takes to save a very large multi layered document and the differences are outstanding.
In Photoshop the document would be saved by saving every layer and it can take a long time.
BUT
In Affinity Photo the same document is saved in a completely different way. Only the area and layers that you are working on is changed and combined into the document.
I have been working on a extremely large file for a long time. It was originally created in Photoshop and the resolution is 300, and the demetions are 1900cm wide by 560cm deep. There are about 50 layers. It was talking me about 30 to 40 minutes every time I saved this document in Photoshop, even if I only saved after changing one small area on one layer.
In Affinity Photo, if I do the same thing in AFFINITY Photo it only takes a few seconds. And if I change a few different layers and different areas along with the previous layer it would take a bit longer.
My assumption is that in affinity photo only change the areas that you have been working on.
To me, this is a fantastic feature that have to be put to the PROS.
The document that I'm referring to a model of a 1:30 scale 1730 sailing ship. It's an amazing kit, but I changing a few areas to make this model unique.
To make sure everything thing is correct I have scanned all the parts and redraw them using the PEN TOOL. I have the compete model showing the plan, side and end elevations.
Consequently this file is about 353.8gb in size. YES! THAT IS CORRECT 353.8 GIGABITS. I have to work in the same size as the kit so I can do the changes.
I don't know any other way to do these alterations and HENSE, I'm iusing Affinity Photo now.
Thanks

G'day Gianni
Congratulations on a fantastic photo.
I don't know how you know what stars goes where, but the result speaks for itself. Truly inspirational.
Have you have any more to share, as I'm new to this forum and to AP.
I'm so glad to leave Adobe for photo/publishing/design and their pricing policies.
