  1. Hi Designer 1.8.2 on Windows opens up the attached EPS but fails to render it correctly. Also attached are JPG screen shots showing how Affinity Designer render it incorrectly and how it renders as expected in Adobe Illustrator. Kind Regards Musaffar arrows_growth_shutterstock_1322351855.eps
  2. Hi I'm wondering if there is a simple way to merge multiple layers in Affinity photo? I have tried the following so far: Layers > Rasterize Layers - but this produces individual rasterized layers and doe snot merge them together Merge down - this does not behave as expected. In photoshop, the command merges directly with the layer below but in Affinity photo it doesn't seem to do this Merge Visible - this will merge all layers (not just selected layers) together. To use this effectively I would need to hide the layers I did not want merged. Any pointers would be most welcomed. Kind Regards Musaffar
  3. Thanks Lagarto, will certainly gives this a try for the headings. Appreciate the time you've taken to explore this problem further and sharing your solution. Kind Regards Musaffar
  4. HI Dan Thanks - using Arial certainly circumvents the issue with ligatures. You may have missed the observation I made in my original post regarding the "small caps" character style. This also results in the same issue when copying and pasting, only this occurs regardless of the font (I tested with Arial and the same problem occurred when copying and pasting). I'm attaching my source publisher file and resulting PDF file. Kind Regards Musaffar readme_en.afpub readme_en.pdf
  5. Hi May be over complicating things regarding the text editor. Pasting into any text editor, rich text editor, word processor, web page etc from a PDF produced by Publisher produces the squares in the characters mentioned earlier. For now I've managed to manage the bug by turning of ligatures - but it does seem evident that this should be acknowledged as a bug. Kind Regards Musaffar
  6. Hi Another Update. I managed to disable ligatures in my PDF under the character which solves my issue in the short term. However, the problem with Small Caps still remains, Character style with small caps are being display OK in the PDF (when viewed under Acrobat DC) however, when copied and pasted into a text editor (UTF-8) they are pasted as squares. I've looked online and there are several threads dating back to last year regarding this issue therefore I hope it will be accepted as a bug for a future fix. Kind Regards Musaffar
  7. Hi Further to my previous message, attached is the screen shot of the more dialog box during export. Kind Regards Musaffar
  8. Hi Attached are the source publisher file and the exported PDF Files. I am viewing the PDF in Adobe Acrobat DC and copying from there into Notepad, Notepad++, Word and also into web page forms. I have tried switching the encoding in the text editors toi various character sets, including UTF-8 and ANSI. The font used in the PDF is Calibri. Running on Windows. I initially had these publications in InDesign and never experienced an issue copying and pasting text, it just worked as one would expect it too. Based on my experience with InDesign and PDFs in the past i would say this is not an end user problem but an issue with the way Publisher is copying data to the clip board. If I can do anything within Publisher to circumvent the this please let me know as this is a pressing issue and would force me to revert back to InDesign which I desperately wish to avoid, Kind Regards Musaffar readme_en.afpub readme_en.pdf
  9. Hi There appears to be a problem when I copy text produced by Publisher. When the text is pasted into a plain text editor many of the characters are producing squares and in some text editors some characters are replaced with "??" It doesn't happen to all characters and I am not using any special characters such as accented characters or extended characters. I've noticed it happens with the characters "ti" and "ft" when they appear in a paragraph together. Also I have headings which use "small caps" style and all characters also come out as squares. This is quite a serious issue for me as it's quite possible people viewing my PDF may copy and paste the text - this is potentially a deal breaker for me in terms of InDesign vs Publisher. Has anybody experienced the same problem and are you aware of any work around? Kind Regards Musaffar
  10. Hi Pasting of inline images into a text frame in Publisher never behaves as expected. A large gap always appears either before or after the image and the gap of the size will vary each time. The only to reduce the gap is to the use the Pinning toolbox and adjust the offset. The pasting of inline images should be behaving as it does in other Apps such as Indesign, Word etc where the image is simply positioned at the position of the cursor on screen - should it not? Kind Regards Musaffar
  11. Hi Bruce Please ignore my previous post, with the information provided in your posts I was able to accomplish the style I wanted. Many thanks for your help, your insight was hugely useful. Kind Regards Musaffar
  12. Hi Bruce Under Paragraph Style > Spacing, I only able to adjust the inset for left and right insets. This is great, but I cannot do the same for top and bottom. The settings in the text frame panel are disabled, nevertheless I would prefer to create a paragraph style if possible as I will be reusing the style quite often across this and other documents. Kind Regards Musaffar
  13. Hi Thanks, that was quite helpful. I was able to set the background across the width of the page for the paragraph. How can I set internal padding around all edges? Kind Regards Musaffar
  14. Hi I'm creating a new paragraph style and would like it to have the following characteristics: A Background colour Must be full width of the page (therefore the backgroound colour will appear across the width of the page for the paragraph) Must have some internal padding, equally around all 4 edges. Can this be achieved? I'm not having much luck so far. Kind Regards Musaffar
  15. Thanks for the feedback on this. In the end, I managed to paste the image into the desired place (just below my line of text by adjusting the offset value in the pinning toolbox. This seems like a good enough work around for now, but the placement of the pasted image does seem buggy - as show in my original screen shot - in which the image appeared inline but in the wrong place. Thanks for now Musaffar
