Hmmm, well, that explains my problems. I'm surprised that size can vary, though. You'd think if they're synced across all artboards, everything about them would be synced. But, I see what you mean about the adjustments, because I can put them on top of the symbols, that's helpful. So, anything else I want to tweak, I'll have to open a new file and just copy the grouped elements over to it. I have templates set up with my various mandala configurations. Always learning. I'm starting to get good with symbols, but I still have trouble understanding syncing and detaching. What I want to do seems simple enough but I can't figure it out (maybe I shouldn't be working this late, lol!) All I want to do is duplicate an artboard that has a mandala on it, made with symbols. But, then have the second artboard/mandala synced to itself but not to the first artboard so I can make it different colors. Seems like it should be doable, but I've tried unsync and detach and they both disconnect everything. Hope that made sense and thanks for any help. I have fallen down the mandala rabbit hole and it keeps getting deeper and deeper and deeper. Not that I'm complaining, I love it!

Well, yes. It could have said Snow 1 and Snow 2 or something. I'm left with the impression that there is something fundamentally different about the one called overlay. Am I mistaken?

I just got Designer for iPad here in 2020 and I was hoping it would include Orozco’s God Lion sample. I would so love to study it! For some reason I’m under the impression it was included with earlier version(s). If that’s true, is there somewhere I can download it? I’m registered with Affinity and everything. And, in fact, go all the way back to early PagePlus et al days. So delighted with Affinity suite - I was heartbroken when I defected to Mac and couldn’t use all my beloved Serif products anymore. Having a ball now, lol, totally addicted. TIA

Ack, I got it and I knew it would be simple! Make the background transparent in Document Setup Don't select any layers and export normally as a ping. Well, maybe one day this will help some other poor confused soul. And, now back to work for me.

The problem is, these are not "normal" figures. They're reflected and rotated so I haven't been able to figure out *how* to select the proper layers. You can see in the image the original curve is selected. I did manage, somehow, to select both that and its reflection, but not the rest. Thanks for responding!

Yes, and when I do that I get a white background. I need the figure interior to be white but the bg transparent. Thanks!

I'm sure I'm missing something very simple, because it looks like I did this a few weeks ago but I just can't figure it out now. I've got mandalas and snowflakes made by setting up circular frameworks with radial lines and symbols. In the case of the snowflake, I draw one curve and it reflects and rotates to make the finished shape. But, all I'm able to export is either the original curve or its reflection, or the two of them together, which makes one point of a snowflake. Can not get the whole thing out. I've searched everywhere to avoid this embarrassment, lol, but I give up. How the heck do I do this? TIA! Ohhhh, I should have pointed out, too, that I'm trying to get a png with a transparent background. I was able to export the whole thing, but even though I have rectangles and background turned off, png still came out with a solid white bg.

LOL, I think fast enough has left the building. But, seriously, I have discovered that if I do see it in time, at least I can hover over it and it will stay long enough for me to read. And, I believe I've gotten other's besides just resource manager but have never managed to catch them quick enough to read. Now that I know the hover trick I hope to snag one of those. Thanks!

Hmmm, thanks for posting that, I hadn't seen it before. But these aren't the messages I'm getting. They're more like missing or modified resources or something. Next time I'll have to take a screenshot. One of them says an asset has been modified outside of the program. But, it doesn't tell me which one, so what good is it?

Wow, it's seems like a really important thing to overlook, doesn't it? I mean, if the issue is critical enough to pop up a message, we have to be able to find the message! Really surprised about this. Thanks for your info

I have searched and searched and can't figure out where those assistant error message popups reside. They usually appear when I'm deep in the zone and can't get to them quick enough to read them through. Any help greatly appreciated!

Ack, you are the best! I feel dumb for not having found this, but I'm up to my ears in backlog and don't have a lot of brainspace for thinking beyond it. Thank you so much, worked beautifully. Definitely happy to be back with Serif in new incarnation and such a helpful forum. :-) Sharon
