Hi MelG, what about using the Live Lighting filter in a creative way? Would be glad to hear about other solutions … :)

Common Feature Requests index
Below is a list of common requested features for which there is already a thread created. Please avoid to create new ones if your request/feedback fits in one of those threads. We consider all requests no matter if they are common (and listed here) or not. The intend of this list is to avoid unnecessary thread duplicates. If you need to create a new one, please add just ONE request per thread. There is NOT a vote system in place. Adding +1 to those topics will NOT affect their priority nor imply their implementation. That’s mostly dependent on time and development goals and constraints. Thanks.

A_B_C reacted to velarde in [Multi] Sticky Settings
Hello.
I don't think I saw this in the Affinity Photo future Roadmap. But this should REALLY be incorporated in the "usability" improvements.
I'm starting to work and practice with the App store's final release to make myself familiar but it's a hassle to click and rechoose every tools's settings again and again in every new photo I open. My usual workflow:
- Open a photo and crop it. Please Keep it in the last setting I used . It always defaults to Unconstrained...
- Go to Develop Persona and check the Clipped highligts. I have to turn this setting ON every time..
- Use the clone or healing brush... if I switch between them I have to choose my soft edged brush again. It always defaults to hard edged.
- If i chose a section tool It always defaults to no antialias. I wanta 1 pixel feather and Antialias ALL of the time
the list goes on an on... you get it ;). That's a LOT of extra clicks that adds up...
I have all the tools I need in Affinity it's great but this is really a productivity killer. Please add this as soon as you can.
Thank for listening to us.

Hi manolosf,
We've had this reported a couple of times already and we've now managed to find the solution - basically we messed something up, sorry :( It will be fixed in all future updates, so please accept my apologies until we can release the fix - hopefully it's not going to stop you enjoying the products too much, but I do appreciate it's an annoyance :(
Thanks again,
Matt

A_B_C reacted to Shmoo in Affinity Designer, Tools divider
Hmm strange, now it's there...
The day before yesterday it wasn't there I know for sure, it probably was out doing some grocery.
I think I need glasses.
-
A_B_C reacted to R C-R in Affinity Designer, Tools divider
Don't feel alone. I wear glasses, but unless I slide the UI Gamma to max, that dotted spacer icon is just about invisible, & even then just barely so.
(Yet another reason we really, really, reaaaaalllly, need higher contrast options for UI elements, not just for the Tools panel but for the Toolbar as well. At least the panel tools have nice, high contrast black backgrounds when selected, but up in the Toolbar, it can be difficult to tell the dark grey 'selected' items from the light grey 'unselected' ones, particularly if the gamma is cranked up.)

Yeah, why not post your solution here? Did you apply some kind of black magic or reverse-engineer the app? ;)

A_B_C got a reaction from zxcvpoiu in Target market for Affinity Publisher
Well, nevertheless, I hope that we will see all the things I mentioned at some point in Affinity Publisher ... but it’s of course a *bit* premature to discuss things like these ... ;)
-
A_B_C got a reaction from zxcvpoiu in Target market for Affinity Publisher
Of course, Ronny, you are right ...
But as you will know, even in the area of so-called ‘bread and butter’ features there’s ample room for improvement. Just to provide a single example: When you use the cross-references system of the ‘industry standard’ publishing app and create x-refs that span from one document to another, the editing process becomes inbearably slow, as long as you decide not to open all of the documents implied in the referencing process ... Of course, I don’t know if that has become better in recent versions of the app ... I am still stuck with the ‘prepaid’ one ...
But nevertheless, in my opinion a smart and fast cross references engine would be a huge selling point for Affinity Publisher, even if this is a feature that falls into the ‘bread and butter’ category ...

A_B_C reacted to ericcarroll in Affinity Designer UI
It would be great if we could make the UI lighter/brighter instead of defaulting to a darker gray (even when at the lightest setting) and have the option to choose from small or larger icon sizes for tools. When using it on a laptop, the icons are rather small unless you are very close to the screen.
Thanks for the hard work on this app. I have already started replacing Adobe Illustrator with Affinity Designer and couldn't be happier!

Not that I'm biased.

Hi Alex,
this is really amazing. I didn't think about the layer clipping possibilities. It's so easy and looks great.
So thanks again for your kind and really quick answer and help.

A_B_C reacted to My Strawberry Monkey in Mac Chime on export
Hi,
I've opened a file in the Beta, and every time I go to export I get the mac chime randomly every couple of seconds. I tried to upload a video to show you but it wouldn't allow me. The beta also just crashed twice on me with the same file, which BTW is fine in the MAS version.

P.S. I am not sure if you have to create your puzzle using the Pen Tool … why not adapt a method like the one outlined in the following video I made for you? This method uses Boolean operations and Matt’s wonderful Corner Tool … :)

A_B_C reacted to hape13 in Building and filling free forms in Affinity Designer
Thanks again, Alex. Very good ideas. My problem was that I began the wrong way by mistake and spent lots of time painting single curves to match an existing pattern. This was also a good way practicing with bezier curves. So I don't wanted to start from zero. ;) In this case your idea joining curves was my best choice and helped really a lot.
Here is a small preview, just for demo purposes.
Next time I'll start with pretty much better knowledge. Thanks for your time and the videos.
Have a nice evening,
best ...
