I really am enjoying AP a lot!
I make a basic scan of my artwork, open the TIFF in AP, color corrections, resizing and then export the image as a PNG file. Did a comparison w/photoslop and It felt much quicker and just more to-the-point in AP. And I used to teach a class on P'shop!
Attached is what I ended up with, original done on Bristol board, Multiliners and Copics. Will be selling prints of it, as I was able to use the Mac OS Printing to PDF to create a PDF that my local digital printer can use well. So first project w/o anything from the brick shack!

A_B_C got a reaction from ronnyb in Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.3.4.26925)
Hi Jakerlund and evtonic3,
are you talking about the same thing? As far as I understood the original question, Jakerlund was talking about vector brushes in the Draw Persona, not about pixel brushes in the Pixel Persona, as shown in the video …

A_B_C reacted to anon1 in Perspective Warp
I hope this helps:
1. select the Perspective Tool
2. in the info panel/ floating panel change the mode to dual plane
3. then you want to set the "mode" to Source which will allow you to place the grid
4. then change the mode to destination and this will distort the image while you drag the grid
4.1 note that shift constrains the handle drag as stated in the bottom line

A_B_C got a reaction from anon1 in Perspective Warp
Hi again,
I am not quite sure which file you are talking about … the tiff image? Indeed, the perspective tool works either on the whole document or on a pixel selection within the document. But I tried to quickly recreate the first part of the Photoshop tutorial you uploaded, and I came pretty close by using the Dual Plane mode of the Perspective Tool (see my video). Have you tried this?
Please observe that in the Photoshop example it is not only the object (the museum building) that is warped perspectively, but indeed the whole image on the canvas (see from 2:45 onwards) …
Does my example help?
Cheers,
Alex :)
EDIT Deleted attachment due to upload limits.

My old request remains, CTRL+drag up/down for opacity of vector brush.
Someone said it was done and should be in the next update a few versions back but it doesn't seem to turn up.

A_B_C reacted to Roller in Merge selected?
Thank you! I just assumed like in other image editors as long as the images were of a simple format like .png, .jpg etc. when added to a layer that they were were already rasterized. After rasterize in each image I can now merge selections. Basic images added to the other image editors I used just by dragging and dropping the image into the new document allow me to merge selections without having to rasterize first. Again, thank you very much for the reply and help. :)

A_B_C got a reaction from Gear maker in [Affinity Designer] Page size with decimals
Hi Teddi,
welcome here … :)
Decimals are supported, but unfortunately not displayed in the document setup dialogue. What is said about margins here
https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/11363-affinity-designer-132-issues/?p=48622
does apply to page sizes as well … it’s confusing, and I wished that this would be changed some time in the future …
Cheers,
Alex

A_B_C reacted to geibi in Brush stabilizer
Hi there,
i'd really like to see a brush stabilizer in Affinity Photo for an even better painting experience.
Something like it's integrated in Manga/Clip Studio or as it's available as a Photoshop plugin:

best regards

jackamus, how about using the grid to make the drawing task easier. In the attached I used the isometric grid and then turned off all snapping except snap to grid. It then only takes a second per node to draw with the pen and the grid makes it accurate. The isometric results in 60 degree teeth. A standard grid will give 90 degree. Other grids can give other angles. Then rotate the object when you are done to whatever angle is necessary and resize it as needed. Fill is no problem.

A_B_C got a reaction from ronnyb in Affinity Designer 1.3.2 Issues
Hi Semper Creatrix,
good points … here are some more answers … :)
When setting a new artwork, “Include Margins” does not allow “0.125” (1/8”). It changes to “0.13” which is unacceptable for pre-press production.
The margin values are rounded in the numeric readout fields, but are processed as entered internally. Create a new document, set your margins to 0.125 margins and observe the rulers. I know it is confusing to have the rounded values in the readouts and I would also suggest to change that.
Changing to different tool with “Hot Key” or “Keyboard Shortcut” after using Text Tool is not available.
Hit ESC to get the blinking cursor out of your text frame, then use the hot key.
Character Format: This floating window takes a lot of space, when it can be a lot smaller.
Objects do not show if they are outside Document Dimensions.
Fortunately these ones are going to be addressed in future versions:

A_B_C reacted to Wim Daniels in Colour Picker - problems and feasible solution
I admit that I had to check here to figure out how the colour picker works. That's bad!
My suggestion is this:
- Put the colour picker in the toolbar where it belongs (it is a tool) and add its own short-key (i ?)
- Use the shift key to activate the magnifier
- Clicking on a colour should apply that colour to selected objects immediately
- 'Store' the selected colour in the tool icon on the toolbar for later use (double clicking the tool icon applies the colour to selected objects)
- Add the functionality to copy all style properties (fill, stroke, gradient, filters) of an object (when pressing alt)
- Add the functionality to copy typographic styles as well
And also, create a smaller version of the line/fill selector so it fits in a single column toolbar.

A_B_C reacted to Ben in Gear teeth
Ok. I've had a play with adding curved edges, and I've got a parameterised solution.
What I can do is offer curvature based on bounds of the angular segment formed between edge tooth on the cog. The segment forms a trapezoid, based on the angular difference between the tooth and notch. I can then use this to project the control points of a bezier curve and interpolate them with a simple percentage. It can curve inwards or outwards. The amount of available curvature, as I say, depends on the angular space between the tooth and the notch. If the tooth and notch are at the same angle, the curvature is cancelled. It seems like a solution that gives you the ability to do regular cogs, and also some other cool variations. It is strictly limited by the geometry, however.
Here's some examples:
