  1. Thank you very much for taking the time to create these extremely useful and instructive Tutorials and for making available on the Forum
  2. Hi Gabe, Thank you very much for your quick response and thanks also to Jon P who sent me the PM. The file you sent back now opens quickly. Working on the file run with much less latency and I have been able to: Save As; Save; update and replace Resources; and work on both existing and new pages with no problem. Your fix will save me a lot of rework and I'm extremely thankful for your assistance! This was very weird. Please let me know if you think that some action on my part may have corrupted the file in the first place so that I can avoid repeating it in the future.
  3. Hi Gabe, Thank you for the quick response. I have sent the V.6 document. The fonts are on default macOS. However, before I send all the resources please note that the Afphoto files are in a folder structure (for ease of file management) and that Dropbox will not accept folders. In addition, the total size of all files is over 100 GB. I can obviously go through all the folders in sequence and send the files. Two questions: 1) Will this be satisfactory?; 2) If "yes" then does Dropbox have a limit on either the number of files or the total size of all the files that can be sent at one time?
  4. My apologies if this is very longwinded but I have tried to adhere to your Bug Report instructions. Anyway, I really need some help, please. In addition, any guidance as to whether this could be file corruption or alternately hardware related would be very much appreciated. Background: I have been working very satisfactorily for several months on a large photo journal (file V.6 = 875.4 MB) in Publisher but a few days ago Publisher crashed when I was adding text to a flowing text box. I reopened the file from the Crash Report dialog box and it seemed to take an excessively long time to load. As soon as I tried to work on the content Publisher crashed again and this process was repeated several times. I also downloaded and reinstalled Afpub but it still crashed when I tried to work on V.6. I was busy at the time but did confirm that an earlier version of the same file (V.5 = 731.9 MB) loaded satisfactorily and I could work on it but Afpub seemed to run very slowly. For the record: As the file content grows I periodically do a "Save AS" and update the file version number (example: V.5 to V.6). Current Status: Today I had time to revisit the problem and when I opened the file a dialog box indicated that several files were unlinked. No problem, I hit "No" and proceeded to leave these few files unlinked to address later on when the file was open. The file opened and I could scroll through the pages and page thumbnails. However, in case the V.6 crash problem persisted I decided to first capture the pages that were added subsequent to the V.5 save using the macOS screenshot function 'Command/Shift/4' which went without a problem. However, as soon as I tried to repair the missing link to one of the photos Afpub crashed. If I recall correctly the only other open apps at the time were Pages and Mail. Opened V.6 again (using the lost links "No" option) and tried to add text to a linked Text Frame and Afpub crashed. Restarted the computer. With no other apps or Finder windows open, first opened Afpub (using the lost links "No" option) and then opened V.6. Tried to move a Picture Frame and Afpub crashed. With no other apps or Finder windows open, first opened Afpub (using the lost links "Repair" option) and AfPub crashed while opening. Tried the "Reopen" in the Crash Report dialog box and Afpub crashed while reopening. I copied four of the Crash Reports and they are attached below. The Afpub file is too large to attach. One detail: I always update my software manually and I very recently updated macOS to version 10.15.5. It might be my imagination but ever since then Afpub seems to run very slowly. There have been no other changes to hardware or Affinity software this year and I can duplicate the V.6 file crash after a system restart with Afpub the only app running. Coincidently, I am well aware that my 2012 MacBook Pro is getting a bit long in the tooth and had budgeted to replace it with a high end (i9) iMac this quarter. However, I note that delivery on these computers is now out at mid-September. So, at the moment I'm sitting on the fence regarding hardware replacement. Per WWDC maybe I'll get lucky and Apple will release an updated Intel iMac in the coming weeks!!! Also I have had no problem exporting V.5 to pdf format at 144 dpi and the pdf opens and views perfectly using Preview on my MacBook Pro, and iMac, and iPad and a Wintel laptop running Windows 7. The latter using the Adobe reader for Windows. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to try exporting V.6 to a pdf due to this crash problem. V.6 File Data: Afpub file; size = 875.4 MB; 262 pages (about 10 not populated); approximately 363 linked files, all Afphoto, totaling approximately 106 GB on disk. Afpub and all linked files are stored on and run from the MacBook Pro internal SSD Software: AfPub, AfDesigner, and AfPhoto: all version 1.8.3 macOS Catalina: version 10.15.5 Hardware: 2012 MacBook Pro Retina display, lid closed, driving a 27" Apple Thunderbolt display; 2.6 Quad-core Intel i7; 16 GB memory; Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 1GB; Internal SSD 115.4 GB available of 499.9 GB (500 GB nominal drive); running on mains power. Apple USB keyboard w/number pad; Apple bluetooth mouse Model No. A1296; Apple Thunderbolt/ethernet adapter with ethernet cable attached; no other peripheral devices attached.
