I've just realized that some of my fonts are not pasting correctly when I copy content from LibreOffice and paste it in Apub. The list currently is: Small caps, regardless of wether its applied directly or as character style it always carries over as normal. Same goes to petite caps. I have a font with several sizes. LO text is 12 pt and it's carried over to the 08 pt size. Liberation Serif is mapped as Arial.😦

Sure. The only difference between the right and left paragraph styles is language. Right page is Spanish with ortographic correction set to Spanish. Left is Catalan with ortographic correction set to none. If you set ortographic correction to any language, the capital is shown as it should. Even downloading the catalan ortographic dictionary, I need to set it to no correction because it's a dialect and many words are using the original (xixth century) ortography. By the wya, I'm using 1.8.2 version. D capital.afpub

I was working on a bilingual book and when I copied the paragraph style with the capital letter to the secondary language, for which I haven't dowloaded the language and thus have selected no ortographic correction, the style for the capital letter wasn't applied. For it to appear I had to select one of the languages for which I have a dic file. Expected behavior is to have the character style applied regardless of the language selected or the dictionary.

Have you tried taking a look at the help? It has loads of information about what can be done with it. Just in case you overlooked that option.

Not sure if I understand you, because if you select file -> print you have the option to get a document printed with crop marks, which by the way, is the only way I've managed to get the double page images to spread on the bleed in the pdfs so regardless of whether the cut is a bit off there won't be problems with it. @Patrick Connor shouldn't the images on the pdf ready print file also behave that way?

Reporting a bug on the LibreOffice tracker about not being able to import tiffs, they found some problems when running tiffinfo program for all the tiff filters. Here's the output they sent for the 8 bit tiff export. Just in case you want to improve the filters so no warning appears, because other than that, the files were ok and I was able to import them to other programs. tiffinfo -D 8bit.tiff TIFFReadDirectory: Warning, Unknown field with tag 51168 (0xc7e0) encountered. I suppose you've already noticed that there was a filter applied in the picture frames with the bluish tone that doesn't appear in the digital pdf export I attached but does in the archival pdf. I noticed the filter once I was able to open the afpub file again because it must have been applied inadvertently through a shortcut. That pertains to two of the differences mentioned in the first post.

The images I'm uploading were the ones I had to rename to be able to open the afpub file and are the ones with the weird export. You would probably need to rename them removing the 1 in the afphoto files to have them the same way as when I exported the document. I can't remember if I modified the default presets before. I've also tested the export as pdf to printer and is halfway these two.

Eso lo tienes que poner en el menú de texto, corrector ortográfico (casi abajo del todo) y seleccionar revisar la ortografía mientras se escribe. En el panel preflight de la versión 1.8 aparecen también los errores de ortografía señalados.

Renaming the pictures made it and I was able to load it, thank you very much. I tried copying the afpub file to another folder and it did nothing. But renaming the pictures worked! Do you still want me to upload the file, pictures and its exports to pdf before I modify the pictures and export and reimport as tiff? This is the file I mentioned in this other thread and the resulting pdfs should have been both the same except for image quality.

I had to reimport the pdf since I can't open the Afpub anymore and noticed that the output is different in both pdfs and also different to what I did on the original afpub document. With some lines moving around and missaligning content on left and right pages.

I'm having an issue on a document I tried to change from facing pages to single pages and got stuck in the conversion with 1.8. Everytime I try to open it, Apub closes. Previous to this I was able to work and edit it for at least two days. Btw, modification date is the one previous to the crash, so the file should not have been corrupted or anything. Previous to Apub crashing with that single file, CPU peaks from 15 to 35-45 % and RAM never goes past 50-60 Mb. Opening Apub directly uses almost 400 Mb RAM and around 20 % CPU and importing a large pdf file with 600 pages and 10 high res images peaks CPU at 100 % and RAM at > 3 GB with no problem.

I mean, one ereader shows font:smcp small caps but not font-style:small-caps, other readers do exactly the same and some show not one of them. Capitular letters are even worse, but at least you can carry over if you create a character style and then edit the css to at least have a bigger initial letter. Regarding the embedded fonts, some readers used the embedded font, some used a defaultfont taken from somewhere, but certainly not the embedded font and a few used the embedded fonts. We tested Apple ebook reader, Kobo, Kindle, Aldiko, Calibre, Sigil and some others. My idea of a perfect world would be that a correctly formatted and epubcheck validated epub should render the same in all readers, the same that happens with pdf. And then, if you find some font more confortable to read, you switch it. But most people weren't even aware of having set a default font on their reader to override the book's font.

Unluckily to me, this fix doesn't work with a 120 page with illustrations after I tried to change document from facing pages to single pages.

I'm seeing weird behaviour in pictures within APub and the export. Below you can see the export to pdf digital low quality and the export to pdf X/1. I'm also getting the same colors I'm seeing in Aphoto on the digital export, but some pictures have a bluish tone in the pdf X/1 output and on screen in Apub. The text below is a probably a carry over from changing font and an incorrect unlink on my side of the previously existing text frame.

My thoughts on the epub export option as of today: It would be ok for regular books with uncomplicated layout and formatting, without endnotes & footnotes (Apub doesn't support those yet). It's not ok if you start having more complex formatting or layout, like bilingual editions with one page in one language and one page in another. To keep that parallel reading, a table might work best for an epub, but tables have limitations when there are readers ranging from smaller than 5" screens mobiles to 13" tablets or above with PCs and I'm trying to avoid them after the results with my latest epub with tables (I wasn't able to make one column fixed width and the other variable). Another issue is the lack of capabilities in ebook readers and mobile apps to read epubs to render formating correctly. I own a board and run a test a while ago showing people a pdf with the thing as it should have been shown on their readers and the epub with the needed embedded fonts. Things like capital letters and small caps were all over the place with 0 consistency between apps. Open type support was lacking in most readers. Even with embedded fonts, those weren't being used by the vast majority of readers, which where switching to their default fonts for serif and sans serif instead. And the readers that did read correctly are used mostly as epub editors and/or a kind of library organizer and conversion tool to send to another reader (Calibre and Sigil). Somebody a while ago told me this was not his problem, but the readers, and that he wasn't changing the way he worked. Well, I don't agree with him and I'm trying to simplify book formating to have readers to have a consistent experience with the books regardless of the reader or app they're using. By the way, if the epub output is to be so crappy as inDesign, I'd rather not have it. Cleaning the mess afterwards was a nightmare. And I'm already bugging LibreOffice support so they convert properly instead of following the InDesign way. To no avail, I must say, but fortunately for me the Latex developers updated their writer2html extension to be 6.x compatible. Unfortunately, they have already said they're not going to update that in the future. So I'd rather have first and foremost the native endnotes & footnotes capabilities than a partial html export capability.

Since footnotes are not supported, I'm generating the pdfs directly from LibreOffice and importing them to Apub to correctly position the images. Some of these images are double page. Is there a way to import the pdf as spreads and not as single pages? If there isn't, is there a work around other than pasting the image twice (or halved) showing half on one page and half on the other, maybe a little more to account for book thickness? Thanks

@Petar Petrenko, I was looking for bold small caps and came across one other font mentioning specifically serbian and macedonian and I remembered this thread. https://www.1001fonts.com/libra-serif-modern-font.html Not sure if Liberation Serif, which is the font used by LibreOffice and is mentioned also in the description has support for macedonian.

Check the specimen and contact the designer on the emaill at the end. He is Austrian and might be receptive to adding missing letters and chars. Btw, I see in 2.2 a kind of í with an horizontal line in between (or the forth one in the third line with an ´ on top) that is not shown in the pictures above. I'm attaching the regular font so you can check if those three chars are actually missing from the pictures or from the font. EBGaramond12-Regular.ttf

For image browsing I've recently settle with ImageGlass.It can show also subfolders content and do slide shows. Other than that, you can only rotate and flip the images and select colors. No tagging or other editing, if that's what you're looking for.
