[Transforming embedded objects without rasterizing ...]

How can I transform an embedded document (e.g. change perspective) without it being rasterized? I saw a video from several years ago that seemed to suggest it was possible to use embedded documents similarly to smart objects, but when I try to change the perspective of a placed image, it gets rasterized and is no longer editable.

Having the same problem. v 1.7.3 It always gets stuck on View Tool(H) even when not selected--seemingly at random--sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after longer. Can open and work on a new document with no problems, but original document always requires closing and reopening file to un-stick tool.

(Is there another place to report these specific kinds of issues or is this is?)
