same here. Can't update Designer. No prob with Publisher & Photo
-
+1. Maybe it is not a bug, but it's really uncomfortable to download files from the iCloud manually. (Anyway, there are much worse bugs in the 1.9 release, so I can probably live with this one
).

Hi guys, any update on this? The thread was posted in 2016, no change after 4 years?

I'm not sure, what do you mean by that?
Can't reduce the width of the studio on the right side (I left there layers and some panels I use on the regular basis)

I have a workaround until such time that the panels can be opened through, e.g., buttons on the toolbar. I like all studio panels to be visible and ready for use, so I created two additional panel clusters and placed them in the empty space at the top of the UI. I made the panels in each cluster of the same width so that the header bar's size won't jump left and right. This assures that the panel names always remain readable and that there is always enough space left on the header bar to double-click to close the then open panel.
This is actually fairly interesting approach! Thanks. Tried it and gonna give it a shot for a while. On the other hand, it is pity I did not retrieved any of the horizontal space...

HEELLOOOO ????
Is anyone from Affinity EVER looking at what people say in the forum? There have been soo many requests for important features and sooo many suggestion about how to make Affinity apps more professional (specially all the bad GUI behaviour), and NONE of it has ever been addressed by Affinity since it first became officially launched.
AND A DISTORT TOOL for AfDesigner is certainly in the top position. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT!!
What does this mean? Is Affinity dead already?????? Or are they just waiting for the big check from Adobe????
Right now, I am hoping for the 2.0 update in the future. Probably many of the requested features (not just for the Designer, but also Photo and APub) will be implemented in the 2. generation. It needs to be a big release because we will need to buy a new licence. Also, should not forget the fact, that Affinity is still the first generation software and as it is hard to say, it is not mature yet. Anyway, wish them good luck, even though there are missing features, performance of the apps is stellar and promising :)

Hello @MarekGFX,
@1: There is no command to do this but in long documents it can be of use to reduce page icons size to small. You also can resize the pages panel to display quite a huge number of pages. This way reordering spreads and pages with the mouse works quite well. But I do agree, a special command would be helpful, too.
@2: I am not quite sure what you mean by 'minimize studio'. Try the Tab key. Is this what you are looking for?
@3: Yes, you do it in the Transform Panel. Simply type into the field of width (or height) e.g. 200% and make sure that 'lock aspect ratio' is checked. You also can type a factor behind the actual value, e.g. 'W 45mm*2'.

Hello Dominik
Thank you for your suggestions! Especially 3rd helped a lot.
@2: by "minimize studio" I actually mean an option to collapse studio panels to a more space-efficient layout. I know the TAB workaround, but I need to constantly press TAB in the current workflow (TAB completely hides studio). That is what I consider annoying. Other apps (including InDesign) have an option for a more efficient panels view. -
Hi guys,
so I have been using the Affinity studio bundle for a year now, almost completely migrated from the Adobe products. Anyway, there are a few things that I miss.
1) For instance, is there a way to move document pages/spreads via some kind of a command/tool (move pages 10–15 before/after page 128)? It is quite annoying to drag them in the panel, especially in the extensive document.
2) Being not able to minimize the studio is also a pain.
3) Is there a way to scale an object, text frame etc. by % value? Did not find any tool for this, and I consider it as a basic feature.

+1, There is much longer loading time of the opening Publisher files after the latest update. Mostly happens when resource manager can not find resources but often even while opening pretty light (only typography/text) files.

OK, so I did some digging and found this article regarding the hyphenation Designers issue...
On 11/10/2019 at 4:52 PM, walt.farrell said:Automatic hyphenation is a Publisher function, not a Designer function.
However, because the file formats are compatible among the Affinity applications, you could make a document in Publisher, with a Text Frame that has hyphenation enabled via the Paragraph panel, or you could make a Paragraph Text Style that has hyphenation enabled, and then transfer that document or Text Style to Designer, and hyphenation would work.
Note that it would not be controllable. You would not be able to turn it on or off (except by assigning the Text Style to something or not), and you would not be able to control the hyphenation parameters, because the UI functions for hyphenation are only in Publisher.

Walt has pretty much hit the nail on the head! Those options should not be visibile, so I've passed it onto development to take a look into.As I understand it, the hyphenation option should not be available in the first place, it does not work at all.
I love all of the Serif apps and daily drive them for months now, but these are the little details that make me mad from time to time. Trying to achieve some results for a few hours (also installed dictionaries, spelling), just to find out that it is not possible. It is just frustrating. -

You can set the text background colour from the Character panel. It's next to the Font style and colour.
Hello.
Yes, I am aware of that, but that is also not the topic of this thread. Or maybe I did not understand you well.
What I am talking about is the underline option of the word / selection and the possibility of tweaking its parameters (stroke, offset etc.).Anyway, thanks for the response

any update on this one from the Affinity team?

@LRStrand That strikes me as a perfect example of when to use paragraph decorations (ie. borders and fills of paragraphs). Attached is a quick example. I have made the paragraph styles Heading 1 and Heading 2 to partially mimic what I see in your PDF.
Yeah, that is a great example of how it should work, thanks for that. Anyway, it would be great to have an similar option on a word selection level. Since this is in a paragraph styling option, I can't select only one word in a paragraph and use this kind of an underline. Still, I don't understand, why it is possible in the paragraph styling, yet not possible to do in the character styling options.

Dear Affinity team,
I really like the software, the Publisher really has the opportunity to replace the Adobe package in typesetting and graphic design. I've already started making youtube tutorials for friends in Slovakia to make their transition to AP as easy as possible. On the other hand, I would like to ask about the availability of some features (or if you plan to add them in the near future).
The text underlining is currently limited to functionality that is not absolutely usable for typesetting (crossing out decenders/loops, different line width comparing to stroke etc.). Adjustment of the offset and line thickness are missing. Typically, the typographer will simply set them up to avoid these visual problems. Since these are essential requirements for using this tool, do you plan adding them?

Standard installation. Admin account, default root app folder. What is weird, is that there were no problems with AP and AF.
