I am started use Affinity Designer trial version. It's very cool product, but i can't work without normal "Magic Wand" tool. Adobe Photoshop have "magic wand" tool with selecting color and setting tolerance. I want use only Affinity Designer but can't this without "magic wand"  and bug when connect or disconnect thunderbolt display to macbook.
Help me find the equivalent tool in Affinity Designrer, please?

    Thank!

    Hi there!
I just wanted to share a list of sites that offer Public Domain Pictures in good quality. Some of them are listed in this thread, but I wanted to add more and publish a list of this kind of content (CC0 License, and also a High Permissive Licenses sites). Also, consider that there may be additional restrictions implied on these pictures, like brandings, buildings, people, etc.
Also, please read each site's Licensing in order to ensure what can and can't be done.
Edit: Since I crated this Topic, some things have changed, so: I removed non-working links and added a few more:

I was told that Affinity was the way to go to create SVG items, but I'm having a hard time finding help on this topic.
I wish to convert PNG or JPG logos into SVG so that I can manipulate the objects in 3D space in a different program.
Inkscape allowed this to be done - converting to SVG, but I don't see a quick solution on AD.
    Help?

You should really take into consideration adding symmetry to designer instead of people having to do more complicated work then they have to with squares and rectangles and the whole 9 yards. Really pisses me off that you don’t have that feature to make it way for artists.

Its a shame Astute Graphics can't port their MirrorMe plugin to Affinity, thats pretty cool.

Ah that's a shame, I have Sketchbook for raster symmetry so this was more me looking for a vector tool with symmetry.

I'm actually pretty amazed that none of the major vector packages seem to do symmetry well. I work in the film industry and spend a lot of time doing HUDs, UI and things like that where symmetry would literally save you half the time (plus it's just really good for getting that nice instant feedback when exploring shapes).

Fingers crossed it comes at some point in the future.

We'd really like to abandon AI but it's 100% not happening cause the vast majority of our work consists in making patterns. Although we consider Affinity Deisnger a better software we can't make the switch cause it'll slow us down a huge amount without a solid pattern fill tool : \
Just leaving the feedback cause we hope it gets introduced soon, we'll definitely foresee  a party when it happens!

This looks great and indeed is a vector pattern fill.
However it goes totally over my head how this guy did it (see his video attached below).
    Thankful for any explanation,

    1. Using the Pen Tool in ‘Line’ mode, draw a horizontal line.
    2. Create a symbol from the selection.
    3. Rotate one of the new instances of the symbol by 120°.
    4. Rotate the third instance by 240° (or -120°).
    5. Edit one of the instances (reshaping, adding new objects, etc).

It would be REEEEEEEEEEEALLY nice if you could actually tell me how to achieve this, without just saying 'it took me two minutes to setup'.
What took you two minutes to set up? How did you set it up? What steps exactly did you take to set it up?
I've been trying to figure this out for hours and I honestly want to cry.
I have honestly NO CLUE how you did this, and every video online is 20 minutes of not-helpful.
Please tell me the steps you took to do this. Somebody. Anybody?

Would be fine to have, but in it's current state you can only do workarounds via symbols and assets for creating pseudo patterns. See for example ...
Affinity Designer Pattern template Affinity Designer Pattern Template – Mensch Mesch etc. The 3D-Block stuff with bending is even more challenging here. And currently so far also just pseudo via isometric drawing.

I ended up with a picture/image with no fill.
FINALLY - I've decided to revert to my old copy of SERIF DrawPlus 8.  It does everything I want in vector fill.  (Importing image into Designer does not work.  You just get an image.)
So for now, working on my book wholly outside of Designer and waiting for the someday when basic Vector fill function is included in Designer.

    Hello There!
I seem to be having more or less the same wish list.
1: I am desperately waiting for a pattern swatch tool. I design a lot of repeating patterns and I need to be able to make a swatch out of this in vector! I recently designed patterns for PUMA to be used in the summer olympics and to deliver the artwork as bitmap is a no go. PLEASE affinity developpers put this on your roadmap!!!!!
2: I sketch a lot of line work on my iPad or on paper and vector trace it to be edited in a Vector program. I used to do this in adobe illustrator but after 25 years of adobe I got fed up with their adobe antics and decided to go with to the Affinity suite. I would be helped a lot with a vector tracing tool, to convert drawings to vector. I am using Inkscape now for lack of a better tool in the affinity realm but I would prefer to be able to do it in affinity designer.

    THNX!

After doing Brush Factory 1 I'd like to present to you Brush Factory 2.
This is a set of Textured Intensity Brushes for Affinity Designer. My aim is to create repeating patterns that distort as little as possible. I do this by using the following work arounds (which work for 1.7.3):
Source file image for the pattern has an aspect ratio of 1 Patterns repeat 3 times within the source image to prevent issues with repetitions Brush offset values are set to 80 and 159,4 to ensure pixel perfect repetitions in loops and skewed lines Source of the patterns is a 240*240px image. This is a rather small image, so in wide lines, the edges of the pattern blur. I’ve created the patterns as a vector drawing, feel free to ask for a brush from a larger source (less blurry) if you need one. @StuartRc says helpful things about the size of sources.
When using these brushes on a tightly curving curve or a sharp corner they of course do deform. Experiment with the brush setting for Corners and the Stroke Cap to find the best solution for your project.
The attached .zip file contains a PDF with examples and 14 brushes files to import into Affinity Designer.
