Ok, I found the solution.
First, I tried starting Affinity Designer with the <shift> key pressed. Nothing different happened.
So, I then tried starting it with the <ctrl> key pressed. This time something did happen. The screen shown in the attached screenshot appeared.
I left the default selected setting and clicked Clear.
The result: Affinity Designer no longer crashes on startup!

Yeah I tried that and it said the drivers are up to date.

That's what I thought too, but SFC and DISM didn't find any corruption.

Yes, that would be logical, but it is just hypothetical. There is no indication that they actually do that or have done that.

@ACDesignerStudio, my daughter bought me the workbook as a Christmas present during the Black Friday sale so I'll see what it's like soon enough.

Hi,
Actually I never did end up purchasing it, mainly because the cost for me would be over $100 and money has been tight. I'm interested in the Black Friday sale too so if the price is right I might get it.

Not worthless for Windows users nor to Mac users that have a VM running Windows.
Certainly no more useless than when a Mac user posts a Mac-only application for this and/or bitmap tracing as regards Windows users.
