  1. How can I remove the chequered bars design from the layer icon? Is it possible to have it plain as it was in AP1? It's too busy for the eye, with many images in the layers panel this will be taxing upon the eyes. Is it possible also to remove the pixel symbol to the left of the icon? It takes up space which I would prefer to have for long layer titles. Thanks.
  2. I have just installed AP on a new machine and am setting up my preferences. Previously I installed the NIK FX plugins in the specific order I wanted them to show in the dropdown menu. I just installed the entire NIK folder as one and they appeared in the dropdown menu in alphabetical order. So, I removed them (though they weren't actually removed after restarting AP until I restarted my machine), and installed them one-by-one in my preferred order (as I remembered doing on my previous machine). However, they have re-ordered themselves alphabetically. Has AP remembered and applied the order from the initial installation? How can I get around this? The reason I want them ordered is because I use the Silver FX plugin a lot, but the others infrequently, and it's towards the bottom of the list. Thanks.
  3. Hi stokerg, Have you any news on my issue? I have begun work on a new shoot and have already run into a problem with the first image, with regards to downloading as merged: Here are two examples. The first is exported unmerged, and the second using the merged visible command. The second has an area on the floor which is considerably brighter than the first. As you can see, the file size is different too. I would like to know how the merging is affecting the image before I export anymore fotos. Exporting unmerged can take my pc a long time, up to a minute per image, whereas exporting merged is instant. Many thanks. [EDIT: Having posted the two images here there is noticeably little difference (the merged seems a bit brighter). When viewed in Windows Photo the difference is very obvious, but is not noticeable at all in AP.] [EDIT: I sent the two images to the Telegram app (uncompressed) so I could see them on my mobile phone, and the only difference is that the merged image is slightly brighter.]
  4. Thanks for your help. The inpainted merged layer though exports at a smaller size than the unmerged layer. I have tried with another file and the difference was 5mb to 9mb; even greater. And yet I have tried with a 3rd file, and the two exported at exactly the same size 🙄...
  5. Thanks for your reply stokerg. Find attached an .afphoto file which I find exports two different sized jpg files, when set to Lanzos non-separable highest quality, depending on whether the CLR or the MRGD VSBL layer is selected. The Background layer is not selected when I merge visible, nor when I export. I make sure to have selected, in the check boxes, only the layers I want to be included in the jpg export. Thanks. untitled shoot-2563.afphoto
  6. I have always exported to jpg straight from the photo persona, exporting the 'background' layer with its sub-layers. On my humble pc this process takes quite a few seconds. I have just noticed that if I 'merge visible' all the layers of the photo, and then export the new single merged layer, the export is instant. I also checked and noticed the file sizes of the two exports are different: the export of all the layers is 11.6mb whereas the export of the 'merged visible' layer is only 8.99mb. Please can I get an explanation and advice on quality differences between the two exported versions. Obviously this is quite a difference (almost 30%) in outputted file size and therefore hard drive space used. Many thanks.
  7. Great!!! Thanks for the insight, David. I appreciate being introduced to Assets. I never new this facility existed. Thanks very much for your help.
  8. Thanks for your reply NotMyFault. In the end I found a work-around: I went back to the original pasted copy of the curves layer on the second image, and discovered that the blue bars (of the cropped curves layer) were showing over the top of the second image. So, I just expanded the bars to cover the entire second image and the effect of the curves adjustment followed, affecting the whole of the image.
  9. Thanks for your reply David. I tried saving the curves live adjustment layer as an asset and ran into a couple of issues. 1) Once I had saved it, there was no visual indication that the asset was saved to the list (no icon/thumbnail of any sort), but I noticed the copied adjustment layer, incidently, when I passed the mouse cursor over the seemingly empty asset list. A piece of floating text appeared, indicating its presence by its adjustment name. 2) I then dragged the asset copy of the adjustment layer (the mouse cursor changed to indicate I was moving the asset) and dropped it onto the second image, but it had no effect, even though it appeared in the layers panel and I situated it accordingly. In the end I went back to the original pasted copy of the curves layer on the second image, and discovered that the blue bars (of the cropped curves layer) were showing over the top of the second image. So, I just expanded the bars to cover the entire second image and the effect of the curves adjustment followed, affecting the whole of the image.
  10. I have a problem when pasting a copied curves adjustment to a different image, see attached image. As you can see, grey transparent borders have appeared on the image I have pasted to. These borders can also be seen on the thumbnail of the curves adjustment in the layers panel. If I make further changes to the pasted curves adjustment they affect the whole image, not just within the grey borders. I assume this is some kind of crop anomaly that has been copied over from the previous cropped image, though it does not appear, (as you can see in the layers panel), on the levels adjustment that I pasted as part of the group of two live adjustments. I want to copy and paste these adjustments onto several other images, rather than having to re-create them each time. Thanks.
  11. Indeed I do not understand the decision to prevent the applied aspect ratio from resolving to the original orientation of the image. I don't see any logic in this. All portrait photographers will have to create their own bank of aspect ratio presets, as I will have to now. Otherwise the crop overlay will have to be rotated and dragged to fit either vertical edge of the image; a lot of unnecessary extra work for a large portrait shoot.
  12. Thanks Wosven. That solved the problem. The colour profile field was blank. So I reset it to the sRGB option it is usually automaticaly set to. I rarely need to change the profile, so I don't usually check. Perhaps it defaulted after I updated the app.
  13. I'm having odd behaviour with an image I've treated and exported from Affinity Photo. When I upload the image inline to an email it looks as it should (the colours are as I intended and as they are in Windows 10 Photo app), but if I upload it as a file attachment, or send it from the Windows file menu to Telegram, the colours appear to have been desaturated and possibly the tint moved towards green. The first file I have uploaded here has also been altered during uploading. The second image is a screenshot of the same image file previously uploaded inline in an email. The colour alteration is obvious. This effect is not happening to other images previously processed through AP. Any Ideas?
  14. Thanks Komatös! Deactivating hardware acceleration seems to have remedied the issue. All operations are running smoothly, and I'm able to access Tone Mapping and plugins without issue. Rendering is a bit blocky, but I expect that to improve with an upgrade of additional RAM and installation of an SSD. Many thanks.
  15. I've just bought a new used pc and am having issues with freezing and crashing. Attached is the only crash report that's been generated, from a crash when in the Tone Mapping persona. The freezing seems to be random, though the system isn't using more than about 2.5gb of memory when AP is working, and about 600mb when idle. The cpu is being pushed to 100% though sometimes, when loading an image into a persona, such as when initially opening a RAW image, or changing to the Tone Mapping persona. I also have this Nvidia driver event: Driver Management has concluded the process to add Service NVDisplay.ContainerLocalSystem for Device Instance ID PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1402&SUBSYS_86DC1043&REV_A1\4&2D78AB8F&0&0008 with the following status: 0. i5 6400 2.7ghz 8gb RAM Sata os drive Nvidia GTX950 Windows 10 Home 21H1 0db8dddf-9895-48fe-b35c-cffbcd9aca73.dmp
  16. I've never used them either, until today. I thought I'd try, and was curious to see how much of which levels had been changed. More information about these auto adjustments would be useful. From a search I couldn't find auto white balance mentioned at all in the AP help manual. Thanks loukash!
  17. When auto white balance is applied, where can I view the level changes? If I open the white balance adjustment after applying auto white balance, for example, the levels are still at zero. Thanks.
  18. I have been creating my own bank of presets based on ones that came with Obscura 39. I give them a name which indicates the original preset from which they are derived, with my own additional relevant tag. Over time I have amassed a list of custom presets, but I'd like to re-order them for swiftness of application. For example, I have 3 custom preset variations based on the Mercury 50 preset, but they have been saved at different time intervals, which means there are several other custom presets saved between them in the list. Since I now have about 20 such custom presets, with the list ever-growing, I'd like to be able to order them, at least alphabetically, so I don't have to hunt around for them, or forget that I might have a specific one pertinent to a particular project. Is there any way to do this? When I reach perhaps 30 or 40 presets, it will be sensible to create a new presets folder, each time I create a new custom preset, and move them all, one-by-one, in alphabetical order to the new folder. Workable, but tiresome...
  19. Hi, Has there been any progress in this area? I too have migrated from LR to Affinity, but in my line of photography I need to copy settings to large numbers of images. For example, I have a shoot to process, and have applied 3 live filters and 2 adjustments to an image in the Photo persona, and now need to apply the same settings to up to 300 images. In LR, I would simply copy the settings of the source image, highlight the destination images and paste. The previews would then be adjusted accordingly in a few seconds. After that initial work is done, then I would just need to make tweaks, if necessary, to individual images. What's the most efficient way to do this? I understand that I cannot realistically open 300 images in AP, but can I copy and paste the group of settings to 6 opened images at a time (one at a time even), and work my way through the shoot this way? Is there a way to copy and paste all the settings, or save them as a preset for future application? Thanks. [UPDATE] I have discovered that it's possible to group live filters and adjustments, and then copy and paste the group to another image. Is there a way I can paste such a group to multiple images simultaneously?
  20. I have a b&w image which has hundreds of airborne 'white' sparks & I want to be able to change their colour. It's nigh on an impossible task to select them all, so I am wondering if there is a way I can colour-pick the tone of one of them & then universally fill all the instances in the image that are the same tone. If this is possible, is it also possible to set a tonal range to which a colour can be universally applied? Thanks
  21. Thanks Pšenda, working with one hand holding down the spacebar continually isn't really practical. I have discovered though, that if I select the hand icon then all the lines are removed, even from around the element selected in the layers list. This seems to be the best option I have found so far.
