Feathering is absolutely needed in my opinion if you want to achieve some perfection. Just my 2 cents but there is a BIG difference between working with a good feathering tool compared to the not so fine blur option which is all we get these days in new software.

It'd be a big improvement for my artwork. Just as good as the one Fireworks had. What a joy. High quiality.

Any idea if this could be considered?

Holy smoke...... I've looked at that image a few times now and still can't believe it's not a render from a CAD program or similar. Utterly mind boggling that this is vector work. Affinity Designer is awesome! and so are you!

How long did something like this take you, may I ask?

Just purchased Affinity 2 mins ago (finally).

I had made this bubble artwork some time ago with the beta version, and first time using it!
I have different versions of it, with different software, and Affinity Designer performed very good.
It has a friendly and fast learning curve and no cumbersome actions, or bloating in it.

    Congrats!

IsabelAracama reacted to R C-R in Cloning Colors / Eye Dropper Tool Shortcut?
The option drag method is fine for picking a color to draw the next object but traditional eye dropper tools allow you to both pick a color & "drop" it onto an existing object. In vector apps this usually can be done on fills or strokes individually by positioning the tool over one or the other.

Compare that to how this must be done in Affinity, which after picking the color requires switching tools to select an existing object & fiddling around in the color panel or context menu. On a large screen with the context menu & Studio panels far from where you might be working in the document, this is particularly tedious because of how far you have to move the mouse to get it all done.

Or think about it in terms of a real eyedropper. They have two functions, one to load & the other to drop. Affinity doesn't provide the second function, the one that gives the device half its name.

    Hi IsabelAracama,
No not yet. With the introduction or artboards a few things needed some adjustements (guides, rulers, snapping) since we now have an independent coordinate system for each artboard. This is currently being worked on. Only after those changes the custom origin point can be considered.

    Hello

I've been looking around I couldn't find a request for texturing objects in AD

Please see the attachment for what I mean. I took the screenshot from Fireworks where it is possible to add multiple textures in one object. The amount is overwhelming and very useful when illustrating.

The only texture AD seems to have is "noise" but I am missing a whole set of them. Is it maybe that there is another way to achieve this and I didn't see it yet? I thought of patterns but they are cumbersome compared to this kind of texturing which is fast and easy to produce.

Anyway, thanks,  and I'd like to know if there is any possibility of getting this in AD or another way I can achieve these effects as of today.

    TY.

Just thought I'd point this out, but the vectors and the pen tool are so implemented so well, that a lot of info in Von Glitschka's Vector Basic Training book (which is Illustrator-centric) applies equally to Affinity Designer. I've done a few of the exercises/practices and they work great! <sarcasm>  The only thing I miss is the lovely way Illustrator would randomly crash on me and try to drain my bank account </sarcasm>.

    Hi IsabelAracama,
Here's a video showing what it does. Note that you also have to enable Snap to selected Curves (the first icon in the Sanp section on the context toolbar) for this to work.
