IsabelAracama got a reaction from Vitas in Neon lights text effect
    Hola,
Some people wanted to know how to achieve a NEON lights text effect in Affinity Designer, so I created this new tut a bit related to the 80's retrowave one I did some weeks ago.
Two simple effects in the FX panel and choosing the right font should be enough to create a nice looking neon graphic. Cheers!

On Mac the shortcut is Control + W, the item is in the View menu. View > Preview Mode.
Or you can turn off Show Bleed in the same menu, View > Show Bleed AND enable View > View Mode > Clip to Canvas.

    Hi
Really Depends on whether you want to create a 'Vector' or Raster (Pixel) based brush.
    For vectors:

The help file explains this effect - but I don’t understand the retina thing. It’s a totally illogic Apple specific way to distort the reality field. unnecessary complication.
    https://affinity.help/designer/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/GetStarted/zoom.html?title=Zooming
    Shortcuts:
Zoom In using +. Zoom Out using -. Zoom to Fit using 0 or double-click the View Tool icon. Zoom to 100% using 1 or double-click the Zoom Tool icon, where document pixels map directly to screen pixels. Zoom to Selection using 0 (or double-click Layers panel thumbnail). Actual Size using 8. Pixel Size using 9. When creating a new document, the Document Units define the exact size of your document on screen. For example, if you chose 'pixels', your document will display at its exact pixel size when exported and viewed on screen at 100%. For physical Document Units (e.g., millimeters) you'll get the exact print size at 50% zoom (due to Retina screen). The print size is determined by the dpi set in Document Setup.

Sorry, I am not sure why you're getting different results between Designer and Photo. I've never noticed that.
I can tell you, though, that a zoom level of 100% and one of Actual Size are not the same, as you were saying they are.
100% says that 1 pixel of the document takes up 1 pixel on the screen. But if you Zoom to Actual Size, then if you hold a physical ruler up to your screen, the document dimensions should match what you see on the ruler. E.g., for an 8.5x11 inch document, the displayed document on the screen should be physically 8.5 inches wide.

    Hi
I somehow am facing an issue with this, which got me really confused. I am not sure what or why and I cannot recall experiencing it before.
I believe it is related to this problem you talk in here.
So I have a 300dpi file that shows or displays different zoom views at the same zoom value between AD and AP and I am confused why this is so. If anyone can shed some light on this please?
Attached the video showing what I mean. I for sure am missing something but can't see what.

IsabelAracama reacted to carl123 in Using Hue Jitter - how select the colours it jitters?
You may be able to use a gradient map to do this
If you want to alternate the brush between just 2 colours insert hard stop colours into the gradient map as shown below (results on the left side of the screen)
If you want to alternate the brush between the different shades of two colours just remove the (2) centre stop colours (results on the right side of the screen)
Brush used was a basic brush set to green colour and 100% Hue Jitter

I don’t think it’s possible, at least not with the Hue Jitter control. As far as I’m aware, you can only specify a base hue and a jitter percentage on either side of that.

    Ah thanks very much!
I was looking for the select same tag colour option by selecting 2 layers at the same time and hence I couldn't find it. Now with your explanation I've seen how! Thanks so much very helpful 🥰

    Hi @IsabelAracama,
As far as I'm aware there isn't a direct way to link transform layers, in Photo there is the link studio however this won't allow you to link object transforms.
One way you could 'link' objects together to transform without grouping them is to assign them tag colours. If you highlight the objects and right click you can assign them a colour from the bottom of menu, you can then right click one of the objects and select 'Select Same Tag Colour'. Alternatively you could achieve the same by giving the layers the same name.

I came here for this very thing.
I have a couple of LUTs and am looking for an easy way to check them against any given image.
Please inlude this, the current way of opening every single LUT is not practicable.

And how would ppl receive a feature like the new Ai freedom gradient tool?
I honestly never was a fan of gradient meshes cause I never ever needed them to do my illustrations at all, and when I used them all looked a bit artificial compared to my own techniques to achive this without a mesh, and  cause I'm used to work things more "freehand", but maybe if I'd try something nicely created but the Serif guys I'd change my mind, who knows... I looked into this video, and really was not very impressed or at least not as much as the ones presenting it as "awesome". Maybe some users like it?

I know it's been reported before. But it's been there for years and still. Naming layers has a terrible annoying experience in AD.
One click, or whatever, it tends to select the whole previous name and 80% times or more this results in having to repeat the action twice to get the naming correct.
    Thanks.

IsabelAracama reacted to GarryP in Problem with rounded objects when changing dimensions or actual zoom size on Documents Settings
I did a very quick check by adding a Cog, then converting to curves, then adding corners with the Corner Tool (which only uses absolute sizing) and then resizing the document, and things look okay. So maybe it’s just rounded rectangles with absolute corner sizes, perhaps?

@IsabelAracama You’re welcome. I didn’t see a crash but I didn’t do much with the document after the resize.
@PixelPest Here’s an example document before the resize.

I would say this was a bug, unless anyone can explain why it should be happening.
The problem seems to be with rectangles where the corner size is absolute, rather than relative. (I haven't checked whether this also applies to corners added using the Corner Tool.)
See my attached video where the right-hand rectangle ‘goes wrong’ while the one of the left stays as I would expect.
Note: This only seems to happen when “Rescale” is used when resizing the document, as opposed to “Anchor To Page”.

    Hi @IsabelAracama,
I believe you have Clip to canvas enabled in the second document and that's the set up you usually use. If you draw a rectangle in the second document similar to what you did in the first one does it display outside the canvas area?
If so, go to menu View > View Mode and tick Clip to Canvas in the first document to have a similar setup as the second one.

Then you are probably generally very talented in languages. Even I have difficulty writing Greek, because I'm not born there, didn't grow up there and thus didn't spent long periods of time there. It's my second home country, even most of my family and relatives live there. -  I think the Mediterranean culture should suit you as a Spaniard and sound familiar to you, so you might maybe feel too like at home there. Well no need to ask, Greece is full of beautiful places (also on the mainland) and with a total of 3,054 (islands, islets, islets, rock islets, rocks and reefs) islands etc. there is of course plenty to see (Cyprus is just one of them and it's pretty warm there too, I have greek friends over there).
