  1. Just to report that flattening the pdf as suggested by @haakoo worked. However ... I have since had another complaint about these black backgrounds on another pdf file. After investigating I find that only Mac users are having this problem. The pdf files print fine on Windows. None of my members have complained before about this so I wonder if there has been a Mac update recently that is responsible. I have over 35,000 pdf files on my website built up over the last 15 years and created with either Page Plus or Affinity Publisher, so this is going to be a big issue for me. I can't possibly recreate them all. Another website like mine is having a similar problem. I don't know what software they are using but they have put a message out for their members saying that "(the printing problem) seems to be related to the compression software that we have used in the past. This software shrinks the PDFs so that they are quicker for you to download. However, it appears to have caused these errors with some of the PDFs. I realise that there is almost certainly nothing to be done about my existing pdf files and only post this here for information, really, in case it helps.
  2. Thank you! I will do that and ask her to try printing the file again. Lindsay
  3. I have been having this same problem. I have created a pdf file using images that were jpegs, converted to png with backgrounds transparent. For me, the pdf prints correctly. However, I have had complaints from 4 people that the pdf prints with black backgrounds. One of them sent me a screenshot and photo, which I have attached. The fact that I can print the pdf and some others can't implies that this is a printer issue. However, I create these pdf for members of my membership website and if I can't guarantee that everyone can print them correctly, I have a big problem! As I can't recreate the problem myself, I don't know where to start to troubleshoot it. If anyone can help I would be most grateful. Lindsay I have attached the original file, the pdf, and the screenshot and photo provided by one of the members who emailed in with the problem. world_thinking_day_colouring_page.afpub world_thinking_day_colouring_page.pdf
  4. I already own and use Publisher, Designer and Photo. I would like to buy a second copy of Publisher and maybe Photo for a new freelance staff member, and possibly a third copy in a few weeks time. I see your business licenses are for a minimum of 5-9 staff so they aren't really appropriate. What is the best way to go ahead? Do I a) purchase another copy, send them the download file and let them have the license key, or b) ask them to purchase for themselves and refund them? If a), and they stopped working for me, is there any way to transfer the license to a new member of staff, or would I have to purchase again? Thanks for your help Lindsay
  5. I really really miss the Edit -> Replicate feature in Page Plus. I used it all the time in so many different ways. Would love to have a similar function in Publisher. I've found ways to do all the same things I used to do with Edit -> Replicate but it is so much harder. Any chance do you think?
  6. Oh blimey - silly silly me! You get used to doing something one way ... and so many years of churning out pages in a certain way on Serif Page Plus has blinded me! Proof that you can't teach an old dog new tricks I expect Thanks so much for your help.
  7. I really miss Serif Page Plus's function of right-clicking on an image and choosing "Replace image". I used to swap images this way all the time - perhaps starting with a black and white image and then swapping it for a colour option, or creating a range of worksheets and swapping out the images on them. The ability to do that isn't hidden anywhere, is it? If it is a feature you would consider putting back in for the future, I would be very happy !! Lindsay
  8. Thank you so much for your help, everyone. So much appreciated! (I feel just a little bit silly for not working that all out on my own) Lindsay
  9. Hi there I used Page Plus's "crop to shape" often - usually to create large letters or numbers, which I then outlined with black. I've been playing with layers in Affinity Publisher, Designer and Photo this morning trying to find an easy way to do this. I can do the "crop to shape" part by using masks. But I am absolutely stuck when it comes to outlining the result. This was so easy to do in Page Plus so I am getting really frustrated. I suspect I am being stupid but I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with this! Thanks! Lindsay The images step_1 and step_2 are what I have done in AP. Image step_3 was done in Page Plus and what I would like to do in AP.
  10. Success!! Thank you so much for your help, Dan .... now I'm off to have a play
  11. Hi Dan Thanks for helping with this. I have attached the file as requested. Lindsay SetupUI.log
  12. Hi. I've just opened Publisher for the first time since I bought it. I was using version 1.7.1.404 I think (from the exe file). It told me there was an upload so I downloaded it. Version 1.7.3. After a few seconds of running the exe, I got a "Setup Failed" message. I tried to open the old version. Won't let me. I tried to reinstall the old version. Setup Failed. I went through the thread here (https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/64511-windows-installation-issues-faq/) for installation problems and did everything that I understand - I restarted my machine I right clicked the .exe and tried "run as administrator" No updates currently installing. Checked machine is fully updated. Uninstalled the previous versions using Microsoft's troubleshooter Made sure the installer file is on the same drive as Windows I didn't extract the MSI because I don't understand what that means! I've also tried re-downloading v 1.7.3. Same again. So I am stuck. No Affinity Publisher. Can anyone help?
