Selection filters are an essential part of vector graphics especially when your exporting multiple layers from CAD software. The three feature that I consider to be essential for an effect workflow are: 1) 'import DWG' with layers, 2) 'live trace' 3) 'selection filters'. This would strengthen Affinity Designer to the point where professional users 'sitting on the fence', would switch in a flash from Adobe to Affinity. I teach Affinity at a university and these features a craved by my students and colleagues. It would be so appreciated if these feature could me implemented in the next release. Come on Affinity you can do it 100%! Keep up the amazing work!

I 100% agree. I am leading the transition to Affinity at my firm and until this tool is in place that effort is completely dead in the water. @MattP I can't stress how important and critical this feature is for my firm and anyone working in the AEC industry, when it comes to adopting Affinity. We are taking PDFs created out of Revit, Rhino and AutoCAD and we need this functionality to quickly organize the hundreds, if not thousands, of lines and fills into layers to produce graphics, rendering floor plans, diagrams etc.

I agree that an official update on this would be appreciated. One that doesn’t treat us all like kids. It can be caveated, but it would be good to understand what the current aspirations are for when / which version this feature is targeted for @MEB

I am pretty thrilled about the collect feature to consolidate links. However, any PDFs that I have linked in can not be collected. As soon as I select one of those files under resource manager the collect button is greyed out. As someone in the AEC industry, we need to be able to "collect" PDF files.

I agree with all the above. I think its an important feature. I must say I am a little disappointed. there are many vital features missing from this software that makes it a little out of date. Any software architects/engineers reading these forums should take note as the requests users are asking for is what will make your product competitive with Adobe.

That's a big miss for me - I often design exhibition panels where I need to put maybe 7 or 8 panels side by side; I need to save the whole thing as a spread for client to visualise it, but then save pdfs as separate panels to send to print. Indesign currently copes fine with this. I realise I can use Designer for that with Artboards, but the image placement controls, Resource Manager and text controls already make Publisher a more attractive prospect for this sort of work - but not if limited to 2-page spreads.

This isn't something we plan to change. We support one- or two-page spreads directly, and beyond that you can create a spread of any size, and demark nominal pages with guides.
