I share the frustration of not being able to do selective batch image replacements.

Yeah but the point is I want to keep transparent export.
This is just a luxury/convenience feature-request/feedback. I know it's possible to disable the option or color the artboards.
I can put it all on one layer and make a transparent export slice, I know..
But I believe you can't make multiple slices like you can on the 'top/root level' which is why I started using the Document Setup option and why this request started populating my mind. I think the checkerboard is annoying.

edit: But yeah let's be pragmatic for now.. I think I'll use a global 'artboard' color to be able to quickly turn of the custom colour over the whole document (make it 0% opacity).

This if implemented, I could see as a great selling point. I like the idea a lot! But I have to agree that there are more important issues to resolve implement, that said I would love to see this added along the line, at some update.

Apologies if this was started already as a suggestion.
I think that Export Persona should be very useful in Publisher. Imagine trying to negotiate various PDF export options.
Being able to PDF only certain pages or exporting pages in other formats would really be great.
I know that we have Export command but Export Persona would act as some sort of Presets for a variety of exporting options.
This should be a low-hanging fruit for the dev. team as most of the functionality already exists in Export Persona in Designer and Photo.

Workaround when you don't need transforms: simply nest a non-adjusting Levels (or some other) Adjustment with the required blend mode and opacity in the object. (Of course, actually using the Adjustment's controls and/or masking the Adjustment provides even more opportunities.) Please actually try this if you are tempted to assume it won't work.
When you do need a transform, ask, "Why on earth is there no live version of the Affine filter or the Equations filter?"  and then you could try messing around with the Live Perspective Filter for non-destructive transforms that can be given any blend mode and/or opacity. Careful, though, that live filter easily crashes the app.

    Hi,
I've made this request before, but I'll make it again briefly because I think it's important.
Why is there no 'Content Overlay' FX, like there is a Color Overlay and a Gradient Overlay.
With Content Overal FX you overlay the content over itself, with a different blend mode for example, and opacity, maybe some transform/offset controls.
This way you can mix blend modes without making Symbols all the time.
    What do you think?
    Thanks.

Thank you to mention that in particular. – And it even shows the missing/searching file name in the finder window title bar.
I never had used the "Yes" button because of the word "locate", which, known from Resource Manager, only means to show & select an item on the page.
If it would say sth like "Would you like to locate them on your disk?" or "... reassign their file path?" etc.  it might avoid such a misunderstanding.

Just a comment: This function is already available in Publisher when you Open a .afpub file. If any resources are missing, you get a popup telling you that, and offering to let you find the images. You get 3 choices: Yes, No, and Resource Manager.
If you choose Yes (not Resource Manager), then you will get an explorer or finder dialog, and when you locate the missing file Publisher will also find any others that are in the same folder.
It would be very helpful if the Resource Manager also operated that way, or had an option to do so.

    Hi,
I am thoroughly enjoying Affinity Publisher! The ability for me to add adjustment layers to master pages is incredible!
Two features would be so so time saving for me:
Relink to a folder. Many times I have an entire folder full of exports of frames from a video I am referencing, that I later want to replace with the color graded version. In Indesign, I kept the filenames the same but could batch re-link resources to another folder. This feature would be a game-changer for me — Affinity already speeds up my workflow compared to inDesign, but with this feature, it would be blazing fast. So selecting multiple resources and being able to relink them to another folder would be a godsend. It could then look for all the files with the same name in said folder.
Auto place multiple images in a frame of a master page, creating new pages to create enough master pages. Thanks for making this program!

I am also very interested in having a bulk relink feature added to the resource manager, but I would also like it to automatically find files in the same folder as a single relinked file. I hate to bring up the opposition, but like Lightroom does when you relink a missing file, it will say it has found other missing files in this folder, do you wish to relink and so forth.
    Thank you!

Okay so I need this desperately.
I want to be able to isolate an item like you do with alt-clicking on a layer. But I want it to keep being isolated so I can work on that layer/group/symbol. This way I would (or should), for example isolate a symbol in a heavy document and work on it without performance lag caused by the updating of all the symbols.
Now when I select a subobject of an isolated object I immediately go out of isolation mode.

Should be great if this was implemented.

Serif is not edobA, so Serif tries to create better solutions/functions than existing ones. This needs time (without infinitely cat power).

LOL, I actually forgot about Adobe until I had a need for a Distortion, Warp, or Perspective distort for a vector project I am working on.  I never realized I would miss them that much. I am very surprised that Serif has not incorporated these features by now.

OdFori reacted to JET_Affinity in Back with the Mesh Warp / Distort Tool... Some considerations
As in many features, the devil is in the details. And again: just because Illustrator dominates the market segment does not necessarily mean it is the program to emulate. Typically, Illustrator new features seem to be designed more for an initial "wow factor" when introduced, than thoroughly thought-out. Its first introduction of a warp tool was a case-in-point, which then cascaded down to other subsequently introduced distortion features. Those devilish details can make all the difference between just another "me, too" copycat feature and an elegantly more powerful implementation.
When Illustrator finally got around to having an enveloping tool, its primary historic rival, FreeHand already had one. There was a subtle difference: In FreeHand, the user had control over whether or not the envelope, when initially applied, already had its node curve handles extended.
This "tiny" interface detail made all the difference.
I dare say the simplest, most basic, and therefore most common use for a warp effect is to simply distort the rectangular envelope of a selection by independently moving its corners so as to make the content artwork fit a surface in the illustration that is viewed at an angle; like simply putting a graphic onto the side of a drawn box or monitor screen that isn't viewed "straight on."
That was a simple, straightforward, few clicks in FreeHand. It was a tedious nightmare in Illustrator. Why? For one simple reason: Illustrator's envelope insisted upon being created with its nodes' curve handles already pre-extended by the rule-of-thumb 1/3 length of the segments. In FreeHand, the user was provided control over that.
That was commensurate with a preceding interface superiority in FreeHand: Its provision of auto-retract and auto-extend options which did not appear in Illustrator until much later and which, as usual, still fall short of FreeHand's implementation due to other pre-established "underlying foundations" of the interface. Specifically, it was related to the fact that FreeHand "knew the difference" between paths' being selected at the object level as opposed to merely having all of its individual nodes selected. That engrained foundational inferiority plagues Illustrator to this day, being directly related to Illustrator's now almost universally mimicked interface convention of having two separate primary selection tools.
So thanks, Mithferion, for starting a forward-looking feature discussion thread, as opposed to the pandemic "I want this feature [ just like the only program I've ever used has] and I want it now!" demands. We need more of this. It's what could lead to more powerful innovation instead of just more same-old, same-old mediocrity (like—I hate to say—the frankly disappointing arrowheads feature).

Hi, bringing this topic back a few years later... I find the promote group to layer extremely useful. Is there a reason why the inverse operation does not exist? It would definitely improve my workflow, so I'm not sure if a) I'm not using this feature the "right way", b) the inverse operation has been added since the beginning of this thread, or c) it just hasn't been a top priority to add this in. Is there a way I can add this as a feature request?

Hi guys, I am new here in our 4rum but I have used AD for more than 3 years. This is an amazing tool which made me quit all Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I believe AD can match against Adobe after all. However, the new version of Illustrator 2019 has an incredible feature which is Freeform Gradient. Some people might say meh it sucks but I found out that it is quite cool, especially for people who use AD as a drawing tool and suck in coloring like me.
I am wondering that will AD dev implement this feature to AD in the near future?  It is already 10 months since the last update for AD in Mac and I am really excited to know that we will have a new big update for AD.
