Thank you all for the information. These three links to the notes and blog articles are quite helpful for the beginner like me, who did not have Photoshop experience. Hope that the information would be integrated to the official help documents. I have watched the Serif's Tutorial on Blend Modes a few week before. However, it did not really explain the mechanism behind the names. It was a nice video, if there could be a link to this picture and its layers to play with.

Dear developers and supporters, is there a complete documentation for the blend modes in Affinity Photo? There are brief (but sufficient) docs for Normal, Multiply, Screen, Overlay, Overburn in the help menu. Where do I find the other ones? Their names say nothing to me. If you do not have the resources to complete the docs, it would be enough, if there would be just such brief descriptions, so that one may image what kind of pixel calculation will be expected if choosing this mode.
