  1. I'm in Version 2.3.1. Studio is under the Window tab and there is no histogram setting.
  2. Color correction is one of the most important aspects of photo editing. Photoshop has color-picker targets, while AF relies on moving the individual color sliders in Levels or Curves. The latter requires a histogram for accuracy, which is present in the photo persona although not in the RAW processing persona. That makes no sense. I'm curious to hear your reasoning for this. Better yet, please add this functionality as it is necessary.
  3. Hi Callum, I went to your link, as well as my online account page, and can't find the MSIEXE downloads. All I see are MSIX.
  4. Thanks, Callum. Will I lose my personal settings if I do this?
  5. I finally found the extensions to my Affinity Apps 2.0. although Adobe Bridge still won't "Open With". There is no error message, although AP simply won't open. See the attached video. Has anyone encountered and solved this problem? C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityPhoto2_2.3.0.2165_x64__3cqzy0nppv2rt\App Recording #25.mp4
  6. I tested the issue by going step-by-step through different brush settings and discovered that the primary cause of the lag is when I set the brush hardness to 100%. Backing it off just a few percent makes the brush responses exponentially faster.
  7. Thanks, Stuart. I'm still struggling a bit with tool-name translation after decades working in the Adobe Suite. Btw, do you have any insight about the brush lag issue?
  8. Before posting, I read through the forums to hopefully find a solution to my opacity problem. What I found was the suggestion to disable Wet Edges. As you can see in the first video, not only does it work in reverse on my machine, but also never achieves 100% opacity with anything other than basic brushes. You'll also notice in the second video that there is no fluidity when brushing. The lag is impossible to work with. My machine is an Intel i7 with 32G of DDR4 RAM, which works fine with Adobe Photoshop. Please advise. AP Brush Problem 1.mp4 AP Brush Problem 2.mp4

  10. Someone on this thread mentioned the potential end of Affinity if it doesn't adopt generative AI. As a commercial user of Adobe for several decades and a recent convert to the Affinity suite, I find no reason to worry about that. I was a power user of Adobe in the brand identity field and eventually decided to switch after retiring. With no more need to regularly share files, I was more than happy to cancel my overpriced membership. In a nutshell, Before converting, I ran three months of extensive comparisons to ensure that Affinity had the requisite tools and sophistication to compete with Adobe. The short answer is that it more than does that and a bit more. Adobe's AI has some value on a mass production level, although it's unnecessary for essentially all of the commercial workflow I ever encountered in 40 years of commercial work. Many of Adobe's newer tools have been strategically designed to automate processes for the average consumer and mostly bloat the apps with unnecessary automation. As someone with many years in and around advertising, my suggestion is not to get sucked in by shiny objects. Affinity is a powerhouse and getting better with every update.
  11. As you can see from the attached video, when I try to paint on the existing layer mask, AF creates a new pixel layer and applies the paint there. I am trying to add black to my existing layer mask and can't do it now. Has a setting changed or is this an update bug? It's impossible to work like this Recording #19.mp4
  12. Thank you for the update. The add/reset function was a very good hack for non-editable shapes. I hope the intention is to re-enable that option again soon or, better yet, add a designated "Reset Bounding Box" function.
  13. I can no longer reset my curves bounding box by clicking the Add button. Has anyone else encountered this and solved the problem? I'm in Designer version 2.2.1. Thank you Reset Bounding Box Not Working.mp4
  14. Thank you for the response. It worked.
  15. This bug occurs every so often. I set up curves layers for dodging and burning and the layer mask undocks itself from next to one or both of the layers. It's still available in the drop-down, although I want it to stay docked so that I don't have to manually open the drop-down menu and/or leave it open and clutter my layers panel. Mostly, I just want it to work as it should. I've tried closing and reopening the app, which does not fix the problem. Please advise.
  16. Thanks, Carl. I just realized that the image I was trying this with was placed and needed to be rasterized.
  17. When I make a selection in Photo and copy and paste it, I get a new layer with the entire image on it. I've also tried Ctl-J, which also gives me a complete image. Please advise.
  18. @Return, I just tried this and it works. I didn't bother with assets. Instead, I created several artboards in the same file and then copied and pasted them individually into same-size artboards in a different file. It takes less time to create new column guides in your working file. It's a matter of typing in 3 numbers (columns, rows, and gutters). In retrospect, there doesn't seem to be much value in saving column guides after all.
  19. Is there a way to save column guides in Designer?
  20. Thanks for the response, Dan. Fwiw, it's not lost on me that Adobe has much deeper pockets for R&D (approximately $20b vs $30m in revenues), which makes Serif's product development respectable at this point. Props for that. Regarding the stroke issue, it only came up when making custom grids from which to create shapes with the Shapebuilder as well as when attempting to rotate strokes around a "transform-origin" point. I've discovered workable hacks for both, which I'm happy to share if desired.
  21. The stars come from the lines being shapes instead of strokes. The same issue occurs with square grids. The software problem is that the shape builder doesn't play well with strokes, which is why I showed the difference with shapes.
  22. I converted my grid-line strokes to curves and the shape builder didn't crash. The problem here is that converting my grid lines to curves created tiny composited star shapes on which I had to zoom way in to combine. That process is not only tedious and time-consuming but also easy to miss these tiny shapes. See attachments. I really want app this to work, especially now that I've ended my Adobe subscription, although I'm surprised that the shape builder function for Designer actually graduated from the beta stage.
  23. After watching my vid, it occurred to me to try changing the stroked shapes to solid colors, after which I was able to combine the shapes. Illustrator has no problem combining stroked shapes. I don't know if Serif is doing this by design or if it's a bug. Here is a video of Illustrator handling this design with strokes: I also find the gradient tool in Affinity to be less refined. Fwiw, none of this is meant to disparage the software. I actually support Serif's efforts to bring an alternative to Adobe and hope that these refinements are important to the developers. Adobe has taken the path of market cap through general consumers at the expense of its professional users who have depended on its software. I would happily pay more for Affinity if there were a concerted effort to bring the product up to commercial specs.
