  1. @Dan C I am having this issue on Mac OS. I find that it goes beyond just showing the correct status, as it actually stops linked resources from automatically updating after they have been changed. You have to close the parent Publisher document and re-open it before the linked resources will be rendered with their latest updates (otherwise, the linked resources are rendered in publisher as how they were before changes were made to the linked resources). Example: My Publisher file links to an image of a dog. I add blue hair to the dog in Affinity Photo. But the image show in Publisher still shows the old pre-blue hair dog until I close the Publisher document and reopen it. Note it applies to all linked resources (e.g. linked Publisher files) and not just image formats.
  2. @Pauls This is still an issue in the new release (1.10.3) although I've notice it's a lot more hit and miss and sometimes a document will work and other times it won't. Do I need to raise a new issue for it? Thanks!
  3. This is still an issue in the new Beta (1.10.2.1187) although I've notice it's a lot more hit and miss and sometimes a document will work and other times it won't. Do I need to raise an issue in the beta forum? Thanks!
  4. Do you have a mouse with a scroll wheel? Documents will rotate with the scroll wheel, so if you brush it by mistake this will happen. You can undo it by going to View > Rotate > Reset rotation You can disable the wheel by going to Preferences > Tools and checking Mouse wheel to Zoom, which replaces rotating with zooming.
  5. Thanks! Fingers crossed the team can fix it in the next bug fix update, otherwise I might have to downgrade to 1.9, as rasterising doesn't really work with my work flow. Also, let me know if I can provide any other info to help with the bug.
  6. Thanks, I have uploaded it. If you open the file and export it as a B&W PDF (without relinking any of the images) you will see that the dog image that was placed directly in Publisher 1.10 does not export (it disappears). Only the dog that was copied and pasted from a document that was created in Publisher 1.9 exports correctly. If you relink the image, and then export the document as a B&W PDF again, none of the images will appear in the exported PDF. So that suggests there is a bug with how Affinity 1.10 places images. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. Thank you so much again.
  7. Do you have that dropbox link you usually put? If not, I can use other means. Thanks!
  8. In Affinity Publisher, I create color documents, and then: • Export them as Black and White PDFs • OR place them inside other Affinity Publisher documents that use a Black and White color space and then export as PDF. When I do this, any images that use a clipping mask will disappear in the final exported PDF. Bizarrely, this only happens if I place the image from inside Affinity Publisher 1.10. If I get a document that was originally created in Affinity Publisher 1.9 and open that document inside of 1.10 and then copy and paste and an image from that document into my Affinity Publisher 1.10 document, then it will work correctly. So I think there's a new bug with how Affinity Publisher 1.10 places images that is causing this disappearing image problem. If I recreate the whole document in Affinity 1.9 it works fine as well. Photos of the problem Here is my Document in Affinity. The dog is an Affinity Photo file that has a clipping mask. And here is how it looks when it exports as a black and white PDF: As you can see the Dog that was placed directly inside of Affinity 1.10 has disappeared. The dog that was copy and pasted from a document created in Affinity 1.9 works fine. Here is the export settings I am using. Here is how the images appear in resource manager: They are both the same image, but interestingly the dog pasted from 1.9 is listed as an "Affinity" document instead of "Affinity photo". Interestingly, the 1.9 Dog is a missing link. If I relink it, then it stops exporting correctly. Which again makes me think that there's something with how 1.10 brings in images that causes problems. If you can provide the private dropbox link, I can upload the files so you can try it for yourself. Gotta say between this and the "Linked Publisher documents get displayed as blank pages" issue, 1.10 has really destroyed my productivity! Tasks that used to take 2 mins, now take hours to diagnose!
  9. Hi @Pauls I notice this has been tagged afb-4980. Does this mean you can reproduce the issue? If not, please advise. Thanks!
  10. Hi @Pauls I have uploaded two files. The first file is Maindocument. This file imports the secondary file (called "00Women0-Search-INSIDE-text"). If you open Maindocument, 90% of the time, the imported pages will appear blank. And when they are blank, they won't export to a PDF. 10% of the time when opening Maindocument, it will appear correct. It's a weird problem and has only started happening with Publisher 1.10. I have seen it happen on multiple documents and not just this one. Please advise if I can provide any more info to help.
  11. I frequently import one Publisher Document into another. It's super handy when you have content reused between several Publisher documents. Since the release of Affinity Publisher 1.10, these linked documents sometimes get displayed as blank pages. There doesn't seem to be any consistency to when this happens, although it seems more likely to occur if the document was created in an earlier version of Affinity. Documents created in Publisher 1.10, don’t seem to have this issue. Re-saving the document in Publisher 1.10 does not fix it.
  12. Is there a way to rasterise the objects without rasterzing the text? (And I mean at the PDF export level. I don’t want to change the artwork to accommodate). Thanks for your help!
  13. The PDFs produced from Affinity Publisher don’t seem to be fully compatible with Amazon's Self Publishing Print Book service (KDP print, formally known as Create Space). If using artwork that has multiple layers, then artefacts from the lower layers will bleed through to the top. Amazon advise to export the PDF out as a PDFX format to flatten transparencies. But when doing this in Affinity Publisher it converts it to CMYK. Is there any way to flatten transparencies while still keeping the RGB colour space? I know I can open it in Acrobat, but I'd rather be able to export it like this directly from Publisher. I also know I can rasterise everything, but that makes the PDF overly large and it also rasterises text, which makes the print less sharp. Also, traditionally, printed materials are always in CMYK. But Amazon's printers actually support RGB. But also, the same PDF that is uploaded for printing is also converted into the thumbnail that Amazon uses on its product pages. When using CMYK, these thumbnails don’t look as vibrant. And having vibrant thumbnails is vital for attracting customer eyes! (Amazon doesn't not allow a separate file to be uploaded for the thumbnail).
  14. I have a list of word pairs that have central alignment. I would like to use tabs to better space the pairs. But when I insert a tab it pushes the text to the left: I have tried using the tab controls to adjust the tabs, but it doesn't seem to keep the text centred. I know I can use leading indents to push the text back in the centre. But I just wanted to check if it was possible to do that without indents, just to make my workflow more efficient!
  15. Thanks for your help! I can't believe it's not possible, as the work arounds are a lot of work for making quick duplications! Hopefully it will be added in the future!
  16. This is my artwork: It is all within a single layer: I want to duplicate one of the circle shapes. So I use the white arrow tool to select the circles of the desired object: And then use the tool to select the specific object (so the little circles turn blue): Now with the circle shape selected, I press CMD+C to copy it. And CMD+V to paste it. Except in the layers, it shows the entire layer has been duplicated and not just the circle shape I selected: How can I copy and paste the selected circle shape without duplicating the entire layer?
  17. @GaryLearnTech @Lagarto Thanks for all the help! Some really clever ideas here. You guys rock! Thanks again!
  18. Is there anyway I can reproduce the follwing using a table in Affinity Publisher? E.g. So one tbale cell would be blanck, the next table cell would contain just " fi", the next table cell would be blank, the next table cell would contain "you" and so on. I know I can do it by drawing boxes but for my purposes, a table would be more handy as I am working with multiple lines of text (more than what is shown). I can emulate the gaps between the cells by inserting empty columns/rows and turning of the strokes for them. However, I was wondering if there was a smarter way than having empty columns/rows (as having empty columns/rows adds clutter). Also, I am note sure how to do rounded corners for the cells (although, I am happy to drop that part if it is impossible). Thanks!
  19. Thanks! Enabling intersects with selection marquee worked. It's still not exactly as streamlined as illustrator. Because Illustrator you could just use the white arrow tool to make a selection and then drag the pencil out. Here, in Designer, you have use the white arrow tool to activate the nodes, and then use the tool to select them again before dragging. But it's great to be able to finally perform the operation! Thanks again to both @Gear maker and @loukash for your help!
  20. @Gear maker and @loukash Thanks for your help. For issue 1: It does seem I was double clicking with the tool and that was causing the issue. For issue 2: I just don’t seem to be able to extend objects (like the pencil in my example) no matter what I do. I've read the docs, but still no joy.
  21. I switched from Adobe CS6 to Affinity over a year ago, and I love it. One of the most important things I learned is that Affinity is not a 1:1 recreation of CS6. Affinity has its own way of doing things and if you learn these ways, you can often get work done more easily and efficiently. However, I keep on finding myself going back to Illustrator CS6 for vector work and it's because there's basics things that I can't seem to do in Designer. Because these tasks are so basic, there must be a way of doing them. However, I've watched many tutorial videos and still haven't grasped it, so perhaps someone can explain it to me. Here are the tasks I am struggling with: 1. Selecting and Deleting Objects In Illustrator, it's super easy to remove unwanted objects. Just select them with the white arrow tool and then hit delete, as shown in this clip: Deleting Objects Illustrator.mp4 However, if I try this in Designer, it will only select one node of the shape. I then have to click around selecting all the nodes, which isn't as convenient, especially in complex shapes. Deleting Objects in Designer.mp4 2. Extending objects In Illustrator, it's super easy to extend a shape. Just select the relevant area of the shape with the white arrow tool and then drag select to extend the shape as shown in this clip. Extended objects in Illustrator.mp4 However, if I try this in Designer, it will again only extend one node of the shape. So again, I then have to click around selecting all the nodes, which again isn't as convenient, especially in complex shapes. Extended objects in Designer.mp4 Is there an easier way to do these tasks in Designer? Thanks!
  22. My file now works fine in 1.9 Beta. It says it's not safe to use for work, so I will stick with 1.8 for now.
  23. Illustrator has the document info panel which shows the number of symbols used (or the number of symbols selected). Does Designer have anything like this? Thanks!
  24. My client has changed his mind, so I can't share it (sorry for the change on this). Will a beta be released with the fix? Then I can test it out.
