  1. Thanks for your help! That's too bad. I have thousands of pages. With a keyboard shortcut, I can set up a tool like Keyboard Maestro to automate it, but if mouse dragging is the only way, then I am out of luck
  2. Basically, I have several vector backgrounds (created in Illustrator) that are used in several pages of several APub documents. When placing the backgrounds, I want it to be linked (not embedded). That way, if I update the vector background, it will be updated in all APub documents. The backgrounds have to be in vector format.
  3. In this thread, it says the following: Image files can be linked or embedded. That's, for example, JPG, TIF, and PNG. Document files are apparently still only embedded. That's .afpub, .afphoto, .afdedign, .psd, .PDF, etc. Is there a vector format I can use to have my images linked. At the moment, all my images are in .AI (Illustrator) format and so Publisher makes them embed. I don’t want to save them as a raster format.
  4. In Affinity Publisher, you can create a new layer. Using the mouse, you can then drag all others layers into this layer, which turns them into sub layers. Is there a shortcut to accomplish this? I know that you can press CMD+A to select all layers, and CMD+ALT+N to create a new layer. However, is there a shortcut to move the existing layers into the new layer. If there is no keyboard shortcut, then are their menu commands to perform the actions (as in Mac OSX you can assign a shortcut to any menu command). It doesn't have to be a single keyboard shortcut or menu commands. I don’t mind using several just so long as I can accomplish it without dragging the mouse. Here is an illustrated example of what I mean: Before: After:
  5. Here is my document in Affinity Publisher: This is what happens when I group all the layers: How can I group the layers without it all going crazy?
  6. In Affinity Publisher is there any way you change the view so you can switch between seeing single page (e.g. one page on screen at a time) or spread view (e.g. where you see two facing pages at a time).
  7. @Alfred, thanks for your help! It turns out I already had Droid Sans installed. I reinstalled it, but still no dice.
  8. @Dan C Thanks for your help! I am surprised it would open so oddly in Affinity as it's just a very basic grid. Fingers crossed someone can have a tool that can help!
  9. Do you mean when the PDF is originally created? I don’t have access to where it is first made. Do you know of a tool that can do this?
  10. Are there any tools other than Foxit which I can run a PDF through to improve compatibility for Affinity? If so, other than unembeding fonts are there any other options I should select when re-saving the PDF? Thanks!
  11. @Catshill I am using a Mac and so don’t have access to Foxit. But I tried using Acrobat Pro (10.1) to re-save it, selecting the option to unembded fonts. The only font available to unembded was Droidsans pro (the other font in the document was helvetica, but there wasn't the option to I open the files (not place) and uncheck both boxes, but same issue.
  12. When I open PDfs in Affinity Publisher, they don’t open correctly. Example: If you look carefully, the letters at the bottom and near the top cross the lines on the grid (The grid lines are part of the PDF). Here is how the PDF looks before it is opened in Affinity Publisher: In the original, none of the letters cross the grid lines. How can I fix this, so they open properly? Thanks!
  13. I have hundreds of PDFs which have hundreds of pages, so that isn't practical. InDesign can place multipage PDFs. Does Affinity have something similar?
  14. InDesign has a script called "adjust Layout". it allows you to batch move content on every page of a document (e.g. you can move everything up by 10mm). Is there anything similar in Affinity?
  15. In Affinity Publisher, is there any way to important a multi-page PDF into an existing document? If not, then I notice you can open a PDF in Publisher and it will act as a Publisher document. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to access Master Pages. Is possible to access Master Pages and Apply different Master pages to each page of the PDF document. Thanks!
