+ 1 from me. IMHO this should be a given core feature.

Had the same problem on a way way smaller scale. Could solve it the same way. Seems like the workflow on iPad needs to look like this to avoid the problem: 1) work on the project 2) save to internal storage or iCloud 3) Close the project.
