The attached IDML crashes 1.10.4 on Import, but not 1.9.3. What's strange is if I delete the last blank page, then the IDML opens in 1.10.4 TABLE_TEST.zip
-
The specific bug is Affinity Publisher does not set the DPI to 72 when the Measurements defined in the IDML is Pixels. It coverts the IDML using 612 px to 792 px which is incorrect, but it also means the user has to manually change the DPI to 72, and then switch to Points and then set the DPI to 300 (if desired) and in that order.
-
Pixels Measurement in InDesign is not based on a DPI (or rather it is 72 which is the same as Points). Therefore, Affinity Publisher's conversion of the IDML is incorrect.
-
An InDesign document nor an IDML has a DPI. There are 2 tests to prove the problem: 1. Open the IDML in Affinity Publisher then change the Document Units to Points and you will see the document is not Letter Size. 2. Open the IDML, colorize the box then Export to PDF, create a new document and place the PDF and you will see the PDF is not Letter Size.
-
If an IDML uses Pixels as the Measurements then when opened by Affinity Publisher the document is 4.166 times too small. If you switch the Document Units to Points you will see the attached 612 x 792 page and box becomes 146.9 pt x 190.1 pt PIXELS.idml

The Table from the test IDML is not positioned/anchored correctly. TABLE.idml

"ZOrderTextWrap" is a setting in the IDML which Affinity Publisher is not handling and is therefore a serious bug because the user would have to manually change the setting in Affinity Publisher for each and every occurrence.
-
Affinity Publisher is not honoring the setting "Text Wrap Only Affects Text Beneath". The attached IDML will show that the text box on top of the tint box is not displayed due to the "wrap". If you move the text box so that it is no longer on top of the tint box you will then see the text. textwrap.idml

IDML Import not handling SVG images
ponce52 replied to ponce52's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
The SVG issues still exists in 1.8.4 SVG TEST.zip -
If the path to the image contains a question mark, the IDML needs to use the characters %3F. However, when the image is missing, Affinity Publisher chops the path name on the Resources Panel making it impossible to relink. Attached is a sample IDML. image test.idml

Double-click on Preflight Panel in empty area (not on a listed Error) will crash

IDML Import does not support EPS Text. Attached are some sample files. EPSText examples.zip

When importing an IDML which use facing pages or more than 2 page on a spread, Affinity Publisher is not creating individual pages and also is not applying the Master correctly. The first spread, which is a single page, will have the Left Master applied to the pasteboard. The second spread in the test file has 3 pages. Not only is the spread not divided into 3 page areas, objects from the Right Master are not applied applied to the 3 page on the spread. spread test folder.zip

IDML: Crash when dragging object
ponce52 posted a topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on macOS threads
Import the IDML, then keep dragging the tint box about the chained text boxes to change the text flow and eventually Publisher will freeze. crash.zip -
It would be very useful when Copy/Paste from another app (such as InDesign which uses PDF data) to have the same option "Group lines of text into text frames" as the Open->PDF Options has. Currently, after the Paste you always end up with separate lines of text which is, of course, unworkable. By the way, here's a neat trick: You can get an exact position for a paste by creating an empty box in InDesign the size of the page, then do Select All (or select the desired objects then shift-select the empty box) and Copy then Paste in Publisher. The empty box will be ignored, but Publisher will honor the larger bounding box so that the objects will appear at the exact same location as in the InDesign document.
