  1. I think I just figured it out. Just watched a video from a link a member sent. It was 10 most common mistakes with layers. Yea, I made one of them. I needed to make it Current Layer & Below. I knew it was layers. I still don't fully understand them, but I think I'm getting there.. In your earlier post you said "with the live version of the filter you can simply paint over its mask to remove these". So okay, that's the next one I need to learn is how to do mask. So far all my editing has been destructive. So when I've done something I don't like it's undo, undo, undo, etc. Or I start completely over. Now's the time to work smarter I guess. Thanks.
  2. Just tried it with the non-live version. No change. Are you doing it on a layer? I'm doing it on the Background (Pixel) layer. Thanks.
  3. Thank you. Giving your suggestion a try now. Also, got some links on how to use layers properly. That should help, too, since I think that was part of my problem.
  4. And thank you for the YouTube links. I'll be looking at those, too. Thanks.
  5. Thank you! Just had a quick listen. Seem like it's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks.
  6. Are there good basic tutorials on layers? The Affinity one is good, if you already understand layers, but I need one that shows how make them, now to structure them, how to put them together in a final photo. I've tried using layers but can't get them to change the final photo, don't understand why some pop up at the top and others at the bottom. And when you're all done how to merge them. Anyway, if anyone has something they can point me to that'd be great. Thanks.
  7. Hi stokerg,, Still couldn't get it to work. Tried using layers (still don't really get them) and not layers, still no joy. Here's the file. Thanks.
  8. Yea, viewed it at 100% up to 400% and it didn't seem to work. I think though the problem is no Affinity per se but how I'm using layers. I don't really understand how they work so I need to study it more (using the Affinity tutorials). Thanks for the offer. If I can work out the layers & still have the problem I'll take you up on your offer if that'd be okay. Thank you.
  9. I used the defying function and it worked the first time. Subsequently it doesn't work... doesn't remove the fringe. I used it both under Filters, Colors on the Background layer and as a New Live Filter Layer. Same thing, the red color I want to remove is still there. Any advice is welcomed. Thank you.
  10. The tutorial "HDR merging" has you change the "RAW output format" from 16 bit to 32 bit to process process one image as an HDR photo. When done, of course the RAW output format remains at 32 bit. Before processing more photos, not HDR just regular photos, should Affinity be changed back to 16 bit? Thank you.
