When you use the Artistic Text tool to add text to your path the stroke and color settings relate to the text -- as you have observed. Go to [View] > [Studio] > [Text Frame] to add this function to the menu and now you can make the path disappear -- stroke =0 and no fill. Perhaps the update changed the text frame default option to 'off' ?
Thank you so much!! This is what I was looking for. Will have to investigate the defaults, but at least for now I know how to adjust the path settings.

I'm trying to type on a path with the artistic text tool, but the path is not disappearing when I type on it, and I can not figure out how to get rid of it. Once the text is on it, all the stroke settings relate to the text (stroke is set to 0, fill colour is the text colour, etc), so the path is stuck as it is, as soon as I type on it. (This is the latest update and it's a new issue for me - not sure if it's update related or whether I accidentally changed a setting or something?).

'Publisher help' does say that the path will be removed once text is added to it, and to duplicate it if you want to retain it, so it seems like it should be a default publisher thing. I know it used to be for me. But it's good to know that if I can't get that setting back, I can switch personas and hopefully Designer will have this. Thank you!
