  1. Hi I recently purchased Designer 2, so far it looks and feels amazing. There are a few things I cant work out how to do. Where is the image trace function? I use this quite regularly on Inkscape but cant find it in Designer. (Probably right under my nose somewhere. Also how do I auto crop the page size around a selected item? Keep up the great work, Ben
  2. Today I had to sign and fill in a PDF form. I tried a few options but none were great and some of the online options wanted you to subscribe for a year and pay a stack of bucks in doing so. I wondered if Designer might be able to do it, and to my pleasant surprize I found it could and was easy as well. The cost of Adobe editor or the online options are way more than the purchase cost of Affinity Designer. I'm surprized that Affinity don't push this as a selling point more. (Maybe they do but I have never seen it) Anyway I'm feeling quite happy today about this added bonus to my AD purchase. Thanks guys.
  3. I notice that designer doesnt yet have an image trace feature. I use this feature a lot for laser type work. Programs like Inkscape and Lightburn do this well. Im trying to migrate across to Designer but find this feature missing a little frustrating and raises an eyebrow that free software can do this quite well. My work around is to import an amage into Inkscape use the trace image tool and then export it into SVG that Designer can then import. Since Inkscape is open source, I wonder if the Affinity writers mightbe able to look at that code for some pointers. Other than a few missing features, I really like and appreciate Affinity products. Keep up the good work.
  4. Recently I downloaded some files for laser cutting and they were in the common .CDR format. (Corel Draw) I tried to import them into Designer but it pooed its pants. The method I worked out was to first import the cdr files into Inkscape and then export it out as a SVG. That way Designer was able to import the vecotr file.
  5. Thanks for your reply's guys. I found the issue and I wonder if some others might experience the same thing. Yes I always right click and install software as an Administrator but this wasnt the fix. Actually I gave up trying to update the 3 Affinity softwares. It wasnt until I tried to install something else that I encountered a similar issue. Upon researching I saw that Brother printer software running in the background was causing the problem Once I disabled it, I was able to install the other software and even the Affinity updates. Damn you Brother and your BS, background / do nothing, software
  6. First off thanks for such amazing and affordable softwares. I have bought all 3, not that I will use them all, but more out of appreciation for providing great software at a cheap price. I always advise my friends to use your software too. I am having trouble upgrading them all to 1.9, with an errow message saying I have insuficient rights. Is there a thread that discuses a fix for this issue? (I briefly looked but couldnt find one.) I am getting the same error for all 3 programs.
  7. Thanks Jeff, I have 'plans' to try and convince them otherwise
  8. First off, I just LOVE Affinity and truly appreciate the affordable price and ongoing free updates. How good are you guys !! Ive been a Linux user for many years now and really hate to have to reboot into Windows just so I can use Affinity Photo. I see that some people have managed to shoehorn Affinity Photo into Linux doing various contortion tricks. This demonstrates that it can be done, but just isn't easily accessible to many users. Ie: Me Linux is far more main stream today, its a pity that Affinity products are not ported to be run in this environment. Is there a way to distribute a flatpack version that has all the support files that would enable Affinity to be run on Linux? Is this the bit where I have to get on two knees and beg ? Com'on fellas !
