  1. I use linked rather than embedded images when the file I am linking to might be updated/revised. I then update the APh or ADe file knowing that APu will use the latest content.
  2. I’d set this by changing the tracking (or kerning) and set it as a style rather than using spaces. That is assuming you don’t want to use Alt + 0 1 3 3
  3. If it’s a bitmap rather than a vector output, it’s going to eventually be pixilated. That is not a problem for publishing online like a website. If you are publishing hard copy like a business card then send the printer the pdf. If the leaf is a low res bitmap then it will be simple enough to draw as a vector in ADe.
  4. No reason to do do the export. Just embed or link the native Affinity file.
  5. I agree that asset management of categories is confusing. Ive struggled for years with the hierarchy. Perhaps I need to put aside a day to try and see if it can be fathomed or dream that one day, someone will invent drag and drop.
  6. Although not by the Oxford University style guide that prefers (as do l) “ise”.
  7. Essentially you are going to make a decision on what looks right to eye when dealing with objects that have different ratios or shapes. You’ll find a lot of SM icons have been inserted into shapes such as rounded rectangles or circles to give a sense of uniformity. If I am laying out other shapes and icons in a horizontal line I usually keep the heights the same if I can. Enabling grid in ADe helps here.
  8. If you’re background is white, use filters > erase white paper. Otherwise the selection brush.
  9. That makes sense. I will investigate. At the moment I am working with two different ways of creating roads and I am getting bogged down with the number of variables. I need to work out which method makes most sense for joining roads of different thicknesses.
  10. Setting both lines to Blend mode Normal results in Not what I wanted either. I need to revisit the two methods of drawing roads and to see if it is possible to connect roads of different widths as I do not believe it is. see
  11. In the last month, I have designed three magazines in V1 and one in V2. All use linked and embedded files from APh and ADe and I have had zero crashes.
  12. In the current climate, human resources with an appropriate skill set may be more of an issue than the bank balance.
  13. I am wondering if the new shape builder or knife tool could be used to do this?
  14. Revisiting this topic using V2. Unfortunately Layer > Geometry > Merge Curves still doesn't work with two different sized lines... As you can see it it makes both lines the same ...
  15. I've now tried this with V2. The good news is that there is no crash, the bad news is that the result is not what is intended Expand Stroke Crash.afdesign
  16. Unless I've missed something V2 still does not remember (or allow you to set a preset) the File settings Area Disappointingly, you still have to remember to change to change it from "All Spreads" to "All Pages" which is what commercial printers require. Grrr.
  17. No it’s not good is it. I too have come to the conclusion that the V2 preview panel is a retrograde step.
  18. Maybe for you but certainly not as issue for me. My business is fundamentally tied to APu and as I don’t use columns (preferring layout guides and text frames) I don’t miss span columns when I layout my magazines.
