Just create a preset for the options you want and then it will remember all of them.
But it doesn’t unfortunately. AKA the previously mentioned, Export as Spreads is always returned, regardless of any preset or last used choice.

I've attached a four-page document to demonstrate the issue.
Page 2 has label master applied
Page 3 has blank master applied. As you can see it correctly inserts the blank MP elements (the black box) but also applies the ghost frame of the label master and the overflow error is produced.

I'm not sure you can really apply only 1 page of a Facing-Page Master Page. The other half of the page is also applied, but in some kind of hidden form, and from reports here often causes problems.
I've done this all the time in APub and it makes sense when you want elements like page numbers on one side only a two-page spread. If as you theorise, there is a restriction that facing page MPs can only be applied to both pages, then AP would not allow you to have different MPs on facing pages would it? As you can see from the screenshot, APub does allow you to have facing pages with different MPs - which is what I would expect.

Thanks for verifying! I can confirm that uninstalling the MSIX version and installing the EXE version will allow you to preview your Affinity documents in the Preview Pane - as this works as expected for me with the EXE versions.
Should you require any assistance in the transfer, please don't hesitate to ask
I've uninstalled the apps and installed the EXE versions.
In Windows 11 the Icon view displays images but there is nothing in the preview pane for Affinity-associated applications. PDF's are previewing fine.
I've reset File Explorer but still no preview

Master page set up for facing pages
Apply MP to left hand page only
Right hand page is clear so not showing any elements from MP as expected

Issue: Preflight shows overflowing text frame on right hand page.

Select OTF message and ghost of right hand MP is shown. So even though the MP is not applied to the right hand page it is stillbeing applied to the page according to the preflight.

Are you referring to Thumbnails for your saved Affinity files, or the Preview Pane with a document selected in Explorer please?
Unfortunately the MSIX and EXE versions of the apps use different locations by default, so although these settings, assets etc will not be automatically copied between versions, I can certainly walk you through the manual process to transfer these, if required
1. The preview pane
2. I can probably find these.

@Dan C Can you confirm that in order to preview Affinity files in File Explorer, I need to uninstall my Affinity Apps and install the EXE versions? Presumably my settings and assets will be preserved?

I still think that the rigidity of a baseline grid is a high price to pay for something I can get at the price of just a little learning, thought, and time. I'm always running into exceptions that have to be made that can only be made by local formatting that would fight the baseline grid. And the sort of well-planned specs and stylesheets needed to provide for alignment are good for many other things as well. For example, the constant need, in many production environments, to change layouts and repurpose documents. Perhaps most important is that, when you want fine control over vertical spacing between elements, baseline grid isn't an option.
YMMV
For me having a base line grid for the body text style (only) works. For everything else it’s off.

The problem is not that checking "Align to Baseline Grid" aligns type to the baseline grid. The problem is that it is checked by default so that all your type aligns to the baseline grid unless you specify that it shouldn't (which takes several steps, as noted above).
- Create a new document.
- Paste in text from a plain text document, with No Style selected for paragraph and character styles.
- Create a new paragraph style from the selected type (which was formatted in 12-point Arial under No Style).
- In the Text Style panel, "Align to Baseline Grid" is checked by default:
Aligning to baseline grid simply shouldn't be a default state. In thirty years of digital production using Quark and InDesign, for all sorts of work (advertising, financial, corporate, direct mail, technical documentation, book and magazine text, collateral, signage, packaging, etc.), and for dozens of employers and clients, I have virtually never found a use for aligning type to a baseline grid. It's much too crude for typographic quality in leading and paragraph spacing, and prevents any local tweaking needed. For a complex layout, it's a question of aligning text frames, not type. For simpler work, and within text frames in complex layouts, it's a question of speccing the type for small or very simple runs of text so that it works out the way you want. It's not that hard, and gives you a lot more flexibility.
A most, baseline grid is useful for short and simple stretches of text.
Equally important, unlike the engaged users who post on these forums, most users never think of looking at settings to change default behavior. If the default behavior doesn't meet their expectations, they either change their expectations or blame it on the application. This is not a path to success for Affinity.
I'm thinking in particular of a long-enduring situation caused by the dysfunctional hyphenate-and-justify defaults long used by Quark. Justified text always looked bad in Quark. All it took to fix this was to change a few settings in the defaults.
But virtually nobody did this. (Except for a few production specialists like myself.) Quark had plenty of feedback about this that should have led them to change the defaults. (The right H&J defaults would have given vastly better results--H&J settings don't need to be changed constantly.)
Designers just accepted that justified type looked terrible, and made everything flush left.
There were similar problems with many other Quark defaults.
Then InDesign came in and made the defaults what they should be. All of a sudden, justified type looked good--without the users having to do anything. Work done with InDesign just came out looking better than work done with Quark. And Quark looked very bad.
Then, and only then, did Quark change their bad defaults. But it was too late for Quark, which had been giving its users the finger for years.
This is a large part of the reason that Quark evaporated once InDesign reached professionally usable status.
I don't want Affinity to evaporate. I want Affinity to take over the world.
Baseline grid when correctly set up work well for the body text of magazines I produce. They improve the consistency of multi-frame layouts.

I am not sure what you mean by "correct." Does F&R not find paragraph breaks if you enter them in the field as I described, or is there something else that prevents this from working in APub?
Not it doesn’t find paragraph breaks. I’d assumed that this was a known bug but clearly not. I’ll start a new bug report/thread rather than hijacking this one.

@walt.farrell @R C-R I thought this was already registered as a bug but given not, point taken and my apologies. I’ll start a new thread.

In either V1 or V2 of APu, in the F&R panel, click on the magnifying glass icon in the Find or Replace With field to pop up a menu with a Special Characters submenu. On it you will find paragraph & the other kinds of breaks listed, so you can enter them in those fields.
Are you saying this does not work for you?
Correct. If I copy and paste the same text into MS Word, the paragraph break is found.

Goto Find->Special characters->Paragraph Break
add + at the end and replace with Paragraph Break
I find APu unable to find paragraph breaks with Find and Replace. I thought this was a bug?

I am finding the inability of APu to find paragraph breaks in Find and Replace very frustrating but I see that this thread related to Datamerge only so I may be barking up the wrong tree,,,

Could you use margins as a pseudo bleed in APh?

I pin shortcuts to the start menu and group them accordingly. All the Affinity apps are together along with other relevant ones like my scanner.

Hi Catshill remembering the last export area setting used is something that is already with our developers to be improved in the future. I have also just logged adding export area to custom presets as an improvement for the future.
Thanks
CThank you. I look forward to seeing this implemented.

I got caught out again when my commercial printer asked why the pdf I sent him was in spreads not pages. A plea for this long standing issue to be fixed please.
Issue: When exporting a pdf, the export as spreads rather than pages is the default. This happens regardless of a preset being set. In addition, the last used setting is ignored. It always defaults to spreads.

Which feature? Snap Layouts? I seem to have it natively on Win 11, without any Dell monitor nor any Dell applications installed.
I am still on Windows 10 so I cannot comment. My Dell is 34” wide so the utility makes it really easy to align multiple windows and applications.

This feature comes with the Dell widescreen monitor application that is free to download and allows you to divide the screen into different areas.

It’s a common issue when I send my commercial printer a pdf that is in spreads not pages because I forgot to change the setting back again. Very frustrating.
