That isn’t an online utility. It’s a Windows-only downloadable application, and it doesn’t support anything other than embedded TrueType fonts.
I also tried https://www.konwerter.net/results/ and https://www.extractpdf.com/ and although I was able to download and install the fonts from a PDF when I opened Affinity Designer those fonts were still showing as missing so that doesn't seem a way forward.
The only luck i have had is my opening the PDF and re-creating the PDF using the FoxIt Reader PDF Printer but with the embed font option unticked.

I need a quick way to identify RGB images in my Publisher files. So a preflight option is a definite +1 here.

There are plenty of online pdf- font extractors
https://www.weenysoft.com/pdf-extractable-data.html would seem to do the job. I will need to consider if this is a a more appropriate method than opening the original and recreating the pdf by outputting embedded fonts as curves.

No that is what I did. Presumably it works for you?

As per the title.
I cannot use find and replace to replace double spaces with single spaces. Is there a trick to doing this? Currently copying text into Word and doing search replace there.

A bit of clarification is needed, I think, @Catshill.
First, you seem to be using AP to mean Affinity Publisher in your second paragraph, but in your third paragraph you're using it to mean Affinity Photo. It's important to use the full names, or abbreviations that uniquely identify what product you're talking about
That makes sense. I’ve edited the OP accordingly.
Next, it's important to specify the kind of content you're talking about. I think in this particular case you're probably referring to PDF documents as you mentioned fonts. Embedded or linked documents (PDF, .afpub, .afdesign, .afphoto, SVG, EPS, ...) behave differently (today) than embedded or linked image files (JPG, PNG, TIFF), and so one's workflow may need to be different depending exactly what kind of content one is dealing with.
The issue in my case applies to embedded PDFs really but equally applies to any image format. Having explored linked documents today I believe that using persona to edit them results in the source file being edited. Which makes sense to me.
For a linked image file, an edit made in Publisher by opening the file in a separate tab (regardless of the Persona one uses) will be applied to the original file.
Thank you for confirming
For a linked document file, the edit will be applied only locally within the Publisher document. So, yes, if that's the kind of content you have, and you want the original file to be updated, you would either Open that file directly in Photo or Designer, or you would open the linked document in a new Publisher tab using the Edit Document button, and then use Edit in Photo or Edit in Designer.
Now the logic of that escapes me.

Hi @stokerg
Well as per the screen shot all the images were embedded but as if by magic they now show as linked. I wish I knew what was going on. Thank you for responding.

Workflow thing really...
My projects tend to use content supplied by third parties that I need to edit ( one reason is-because APub is unable to render embedded fonts correctly). I keep this content in a separate folder. When placed into APub it would be logical to edit these changes using persona but with embedded content, the content in the folder wouldn’t be updated would it.
Therefore when I need to edit this external content instead of using persona I open the files with open with in APho or ADes.
Does my reasoning make sense?

Hi Catshill,
Welcome to Affinity Forums
Currently Affinity apps don't support embedded fonts no matter how you import them. We hope to add support for embedded fonts later in a future version (no eta).Do you have any suggestions as to a work around?

This issue has just hit me. I was mistakenly under the impression that if I used the File > Place method of importing a PDF then embedded fonts would display correctly. I have now found to my cost that this is not the case. Note that I am not expecting to edit the PDF, for that I would expect to have to install all fonts, but I definitely need a facility to import a PDF and have it display correctly as it does in a PDF reader.

I seem to remember a similar issue with this particular font. I believe there are a number of versions of Garamond out there and at least one of them looks very different to the 'normal' one.

Thanks - this has been done

Your Resources Manager screenshot only shows the first few resources. What do you see if you scroll down to where the items named in the notifications are shown?
They all show Status OK Embedded.

Import PDF with embedded fonts
in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)

I tried the Inkscape method but I lost some of the elements when I tried to import the Inkscape PDF into ADes.
Opening the PDF and re-creating the PDF using the FoxIt Reader PDF Printer but with the embed font option unticked appears to be a quicker and more reliable method for me.
