  1. Create a link from the rasterised version on your website to a pdf for download.
  2. Yes I agree with that. I often go through my publications and remove the default styles and ones that APub has “invented” so to speak.
  3. Number 1 on my wish list too. Until the. Pdf2png is my workaround of choice.
  4. That reminds me of John Hurt’s character in Alien.
  5. I’ve previously indicated that the customisable preset should remember this setting. It happens to me a lot as well.
  6. For me the lack of pdf pass through tops everything on that list. Spanning columns had never occurred to me as a issue as I would just create a text frame to the size I want. I certainly do this when I want to insert a quote.
  7. I created a profile for my commercial printer and apart from having to select pages rather than spreads each time, it remembers my settings.
  8. The crashes are transient one offs that are unreproducible. Not great for bug fixing I know. Sorry but I do not use the beta software. Looking forward to the official releases.
  9. I have created the following master pages for my magazines... 1. Front Page (contains banner and elements for cover, no page no) - singe page 2. Inside with headings (contains guides , L & R page nos and rectangles containing headings and sub headings) - facing pages 3. Inside with no headings (contains guides , L & R page nos) - facing pages 4. Blank (no guides, no page nos) - single page I then apply these throughout the pages as I require them. I never apply a master page to every page.
  10. I would prefer limited resources to be targeted at improving the existing apps.
  11. Yes about 10 in a 32pp A5 document. A combination of pdf, jpg and Affinity Design images placed into photo frames.

  13. The latest version Publisher (Windows) does crash for me a couple of times a week. Hopefully the next update will improve stability.
  14. Is this not simply the fact that the Affinity suite does not support PDF pass through?
  15. Apart from the increased number of Publisher crashing without warning issues, embedded font pass through is at the very top of my desperate needs list. Until then I have to convert the PDF using other tools... Microsoft's PDF printer driver The PDF to PNG converter
  16. I've uploaded the file if you wish to see the issue. Master page overflow bug.afpub
  17. The facing pages master pages is set up as intended in that it is only applied to the right hand page on this occasion. As you will see a different master page is applied to the left hand page. Two issues therefore... 1) Overflow warnings should not be produced when there is no overflow (facing master page issue) 2) An indication of where the overflow is occurring (the red dots) should be visible. Thank you for investigating and logging the bug.
  18. I experienced the same issue for the first time in APub. I deleted the imported photo, created a photo frame and placed the image into that. Drag/move then worked.
  19. I have just spend an hour trying to resolve an "Overflowing Text" issue in one of my publications. Normally Walt's methods as described in this and other threads work for me but not this time. No red dots we visible so I had to try a different approach: Save the publication under original file name and then made a second version prefixed with TEST. [Select first facing page or facing pages > Select all objects (CTRL A) > Delete all object > Export to see if overflow warning appears] Repeat above until culprit page is identified. Using the above method delete each object followed by Export to identify culprit object. FOUND CULPRIT OBJECT - RESULT!!!! Revert to main document and resolve issue. So what was the issue? It was a Picture Frame containing an embedded graphic that overlaid a horizontal guide from a master page. However the master page was not the one applied but a completely different master page that happened to contain a text frame. The thing is even if I clear masters from the affected page or apply a completely different and blank master page I still get same overflow error. Something weird is going on with master pages and the way they pick up characteristics and interact with one another. I have come to the conclusion that this a bug with no workaround. Certainly frustrating as the normal zoom out and look for the red dots method will not work.
  20. I like seeing different ways to achieve an effect in one place. This thread exemplifies this and makes for powerful learning. More please. It is one of the reasons I use tutorials produced by different authors as well as the official ones.
  21. Have you looked at content management system such as WordPress. All my sites are now migrated to WP. Free and lots of themes and plugins to make a powerful and mobile friendly website.
  22. Isn’t that how the Affinity Suite manages pixel layers anyway? Each imported images being on its own layer. Am I missing something?
  23. Have you tried converting the pdf to a bitmap such as a png and then importing that? I have to do that when I import pdfs that use fonts that are not on my system as Affinity does not support pdf pass through.
