  1. When I come across text import issues, I often find it easier in the long run to import as plain text and reapply styles manually. Also see
  2. I have a similar style set but my Base is a group style with all other styles including Body style below this. One niggle is that I get heading+1 styles added by Publisher which upsets my clean Text style window. Normally this is down to using Assets that differ but I have not really worked out how to fix it reliably.
  3. I can understand the logic of using a template but as I reuse a significant amount of content when I produce documents, I adopt the same strategy of the OP. I delete content from publications and refill. I don’t suffer from crashes (Windows user, no graphics acceleration) but then I don't link picture frames only text frames.
  4. As a workaround I create lines or rectangles and use their dimensions as “rulers”. They can of course be rotated and moved to fit.
  5. You are correct. You cannot turn a low resolution image into a high resolution image.
  6. The thought of multiple editors working on APu does not appeal to me me one bit. I use the adding of comments using a pdf reader on a pdf that is on a shared Google drive actually works well for me.
  7. I would create a paragraph or character style called “label”, apply it to your objects and edit as necessary.
  8. I struggle with Affinity Designers printing function so I tend to export to pdf and print from that for more reliable results.
  9. I find selecting objects from the layers panel then using copy / paste the best way. It’s just a little trickier when you have facing pages.
  10. Would this help? https://affinityspotlight.com/article/how-to-use-symbols-in-affinity-designer/
  11. I could but in the context of the discussion about styles and their use in ADe you appear to making assumptions that are irrelevant. Unless I misunderstand your intentions?
  12. Thanks Russ. Collimation is so easy to do but so difficult to write about which was why I wrote the guide with images created in ADe. Similarly I created this to show the different reflections seen through the focus tube of a Newtonian reflector. I also use concentric circles created in ADe to highlight alignment errors.
  13. I disagree that styles in ADe are unusable. I have created a number of them in order to draw road maps. Very useful to me.
  14. I am not an astrophotographer (I prefer visual) but I still use the Affinity suite as part of my hobby. Just in a different way https://astro.catshill.com/collimation-guide/
  15. I’ve used APu for years and never used symbols. I need to expand my horizons and start thinking how they might be useful to me beyond styles and assets.
  16. I have just had to Mailmerge 144 beers from a spreadsheet to A4 sheets of paper that are fixed to the end of the cask. I would have been flummoxed without the ability to fit the text into the frame so I use Microsoft Publisher. Beer Ends.pdf
  17. Assuming the bottom half is a text box and the purple rounded rectangle is a shape, I would add a margin to the bottom of the rectangle ensuring the text flow is appropriately set. Also checking that baseline is off or set approximately.
  18. Watching with interest as I find multiple bullet lines in the suite to be unintuitive and extremely frustrating.
  19. In the double sided printing option there will be a long side / short side setting. Choose the one that is not selected.
  20. When I first set up my document template, a few years ago, I made a decision to set up a layout grid on a master frame and use multiple text frames rather than columns. I am glad I did that because spanning columns is not an issue for me. Apologies that my post doesn’t address the issue of this thread but I thought it was worth sharing the point that for me, frames rather than columns allows this flexibility.
